Elton John says he has a “wish list of people” to play him in a proposed movie about his life.

“No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake,” reveals John.

Timberlake memorably portrayed the music legend in John’s video for “This Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore,” a performance the legendary musician calls “superb.”

John says a film is ”very much in the works,” but cautions it won’t “be a normal biopic because my life hasn’t been like that.”

“It’s going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge,” he tells the Los Angeles Times.

The script has been written by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall, and a director will be announced “very, very soon.”

“Dr. Conrad Murray has been placed on suicide watch,” reports RadarOnline, picking up on a story from the Los Angeles Times which says the former doctor is being closely monitored so that he doesn’t attempt to take his own life in jail.

The site says the staff at the L.A. County Men’s Jail “were told to ensure Murray does not try to take his own life” in the first few days of his incarceration.

Murray was remanded to jail on Monday after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.

However, Gossip Cop has learned that Murray is not on suicide watch, but is rather being placed under special protection at the prison, with an escort accompanying him wherever he goes.

And while it’s true he’s depressed, we’re told he’s still looking at the appeal as a saving grace.

Murray is scheduled for sentencing on November 29, and faces up to four years in jail.

Charlie Sheen and Warner Bros. are reportedly close to hammering out a deal to settle their legal issues.

Sheen, who began his legal battle with the studio after being fired from “Two and a Half Men,” will be paid approximately $25 million to settle his contract, reports the Los Angeles Times.

In the wake of Sheen’s partying, refusal to seek help, and publicly blasting Warner Bros. and “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre this past spring, the studio canceled the remainder of last season. And following more of Sheen’s verbal attacks, Warner Bros. eventually fired him.

The highest paid actor on TV, Sheen was making $1.2 million an episode. For just the remaining eight episodes that were nixed last season, and the 24 shows he was supposed to have shot this season under his contract, Sheen would have earned $38.4 million — not to mention the millions more those 32 episodes would have generated in rerun residuals.

Whether it’s genuine contrition, growing up, or part of the settlement agreement, a humbled, more apologetic Sheen has emerged this past week.

Sheen admitted to Jay Leno on the “Tonight Show,” “I would have fired my a**, too,” and at the Emmys told the “Two and a Half Men” cast and crew, “From the bottom of my heart I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season.”

The new “Two and a Half Men” premieres tonight with Ashton Kutcher.

Zooey Deschanel has a website, and she’s not afraid to use it.

After Los Angeles Times columnist Patt Morrison took out-of-context quotes attributed to Deschanel regarding William and Kate‘s L.A. visit to call the actress a “snobby cow,” Deschanel posted a damning response on HelloGiggles, the site she co-founded.

According to Morrison’s weirdly personal attack on Deschanel, the actress had bemoaned that the royal couple were forced to attend a downtown BAFTA event. “I just don’t want them to see the worst of L.A.,” she quotes Deschanel as saying, leading Morrison to blast the actress for her “gob-smacking” remarks.

“What, Ms. Deschanel, you don’t have any homeless people there near your Westside home?” asked Morrison, who claims Deschanel came off sounding like a “snobby cow.”

Whoa.

Um, one tiny problem.

As Gossip Cop reported yesterday, Deschanel (and Jonah Hill) were both misquoted about Saturday’s gala, with Entertainment Weekly even apologizing for the mess-up.

As Deschanel points out in her letter to Morrison, the actress never called Downtown Los Angeles “the worst of L.A.” and is even on the record discussing her love for the area in previous interviews.

“I have pride in my city, that’s the reason why I thought it was kind of funny that they didn’t clean up the immediate surroundings before the Royals came through,” explains Deschanel, providing the context Morrison ignores.

Deschanel also points out that she can’t “go back to your house on the Westside” because that’s not where she lives.

“It’s hard for me to comprehend why you launched such a vile and toxic blow in my direction over a sentence fragment that you did not even hear for yourself,” Deschanel writes to Morrison. “I do hope that in the future when writing about something, especially a human being, you will consider both the facts and the context before publishing your opinion.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger

When Schwarzenegger was first questioned by the Los Angeles Times about possibly having a child out of his marriage, he acknowledged in a statement that only after he left the governor’s office did he tell “[his] wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago” before first running for public office.

“I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family,” the statement went on to say. “There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”

The statement concluded, “I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not. ”

Just last week, Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver announced they had separated after 25 years of marriage and four kids together.

The woman who had Schwarzenegger’s kid retired earlier this year after working for the family for 20 years.

Vanessa Hudgens is doing her best to leave behind some of her more infamous publicity.

During a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, the “High School Musical” star reflects on her various racy photo scandals, the most recent of which led to FBI involvement.

In each case, private (and occasionally graphic) pictures of Hudgens were leaked online.

“It’s just silly because I’m a very present person, and that’s the thing that has been so in the past,” says the actress. “The fact that somebody keeps bringing up the past is just selfish.”

“I mean, it sucks,” continues Hudgens. “I already released a statement the first time it happened. It’s just unfortunate that it keeps reminding people about the past and not the present.”

And it’s not as though people can’t see a barely-clad Hudgens on the big screen.

In the just-released Sucker Punch, the actress isn’t afraid to show quite a bit of herself in skimpy costumes.

“I was in the best shape of my life, so why not?” she reasons.

What do Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher have in common, aside from their mutual love of pranks?

A new movie, perhaps!

The Los Angeles Times reports that Bieber is in talks to star in a new comedy with Kutcher.

According to the Times‘ blog, The Biebs would play a younger version of Kutcher in a film entitled What Would Kenny Do? about the relationship between a 17-year-old who meets himself as a thirtysomething. The older version then guides the teen through those awkward high school years.

Perez Hilton and a number of other outlets rushed to post a rumor (originating on a Los Angeles Times blog) that claimed that Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson are primed to reunite for a movie called El Presidente.

The film supposedly involves Cruise as a Secret Service agent assigned to protect an ex-president played by Nicholson.

Cruise and Nicholson, of course, shared some famously tense courtroom moments in 1992′s military drama A Few Good Men.

But for now that movie will have to remain the last time the two titans co-starred.

A rep for Cruise says the El Presidente rumor is “not true.”

And a rep for Nicholson tells Gossip Cop that he’s not doing the film, either.

At least this gaffe isn’t quite as bad as the time Perez bizarrely reported that Nicholson had asked Jessica Simpson out on a date.

Would it be cliche to say Perez “can’t handle the truth”?

The Los Angeles Times reports that Meryl Streep and Tina Fey could co-star in a movie called Mommy & Me, to be directed by Streep pal Stanley Tucci.

It should be noted that the project does not yet have a script or writers. But the Times says the leading ladies and Tucci have been shopped — as a package — to a number of interested studios.

Streep and Tucci formed dynamic on-screen duos in The Devil Wears Prada and Julie & Julia.

When an interviewer once asked Fey with whom she wanted to work, the Date Night star responded, “Well, doesn’t every person dream of, like Meryl Streep?” before joking, “I’d like to play Meryl Streep’s mother.”

She might get her wish.

ScreenDaily.com announces in a headline today, “Pattinson, Kidman board Bel Ami for Protagonist,” and goes on to report, “In an intriguing star pairing, Twilight sensation Robert Pattinson is teaming with Nicole Kidman to star in Bel Ami, the film of Guy De Maupassant’s erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction.”

The story was picked up EVERYWHERE, and reported as fact by numerous websites, including Perez Hilton.

So is it true?

Well, yes, it is based on a novel by Guy de Maupassant, and yes, Pattinson will play a cad.

What’s NOT true is that Kidman will star opposite Pattinson. While she did consider the project, the film’s timing didn’t work out. Kidman’s rep told Gossip Cop that “Bel Ami” is “categorically not happening for her.”

There’s been a bad habit recently of reporting Hollywood casting possibilities as though they’re done deals. Today a number of outlets announced that Robert Downey, Jr. had landed the lead in Steven Spielberg‘s remake of the 1950 Jimmy Stewart classic “Harvey.”

Perez Hilton declared Downey “has snagged” the role of Elwood P. Dowd, a gentle but daft man whose best friend is a tall, invisible rabbit, citing a New York Daily News story that had Downey “rumored” for the part. The Los Angeles Times, meanwhile, allowed that “the official announcement may be a week or two away,” but said Downey “is poised to go down the rabbit hole.”

So what’s the real story?

Well, Gossip Cop contacted a source close to the actor, who told us there is no done deal, and that any “Harvey” discussions with Downey are “just chit chat so far.”

So while Downey has expressed admiration for Stewart and might be in the mix to take up one of the legend’s most famous roles, any talk of him “snagging” it is premature.

A number of bombshells have just emerged about the death of Anna Nicole Smith as a preliminary hearing surrounding her overdose is slated for next month.

Brace yourselves.

Recently unsealed court documents show that just five days after Anna Nicole’s son Daniel died from an accidental drug death, one of her doctors prescribed, what the pharmacist termed, “pharmaceutical suicide.”

So what exactly did Smith’s doctor try to get her?  An astounding 300 tablets of methadone, two different kinds of sedatives, an anti-inflammatory drug, a muscle relaxer, and four bottles of a painkiller that’s known as “heroin hospital.”

The pharmacist, who refused to fill the prescriptions, thought – according to the unsealed documents – “They are going to kill her with this.”

All of this has come out as psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and internist Sandeep Kapoor are being investigated for their role in Smith’s drug overdose on February 8, 2007, just five months after her son passed away. The doctors and Smith’s lawyer/boyfriend Howard K. Stern were charged with (and pleaded not guilty to) conspiring to illegally provide her with controlled substances.

But that’s not all.

The unsealed documents also claim, among other unseemly things, that Smith’s psychiatrist crossed professional boundaries by having sexual contact with the Playboy model.  That’s right, sexual contact with a (drug using) patient.

According to the Los Angeles Times, three photos found in Smith’s computer, taken two months before she died, show the Playmate and her shrink, “naked and embracing in a bathtub.”
