Justin Bieber can “smell a weasel” when it comes to Mariah Yeater‘s baby daddy allegations.

On Wednesday’s “Late Show,” David Letterman told the singer that the accusations made him “see red” and “so angry” because he could “smell a weasel.”

Bieber agreed, saying, “I think I can smell a weasel, too, a little bit.”

That aside, the pop star understands that being in the spotlight is going to lead to these types of false claims.

“People are going to say whatever,” he observes.

Bieber also told Letterman about taking his paternity test, which, apparently, required neither nudity nor anesthesia.

In a piece titled, “Katie Holmes vs. Noel Gallagher,” Perez Hilton writes, “When Noel Gallagher bumped into Katie Holmes last Thursday, he had no idea how camera shy she was.”

The blogger explains the Oasis frontman was with a pal, who was filming material for Gallagher’s website, when they crossed paths with Holmes at “Late Show with David Letterman,” where they were both guests.

Perez then quotes Gallagher, who posted on his site: “We literally bumped into that top Scientologist Katie Holmes on the way into the studio. We came out of the lift [elevator] and BANG, there she was…. My mate… was doing a bit of filming for my website and managed to capture the moment. She did look a bit miffed… but there was no need to send one of her people over to demand the video be deleted!!!! Un-f**kin’-believable.”

“Sorry Noel,” editorializes Perez, “but we’re not surprised at all with this. Katie only films for money.”

Actually, Perez and Gallagher should be sorry, because they’re both WRONG.

Holmes had NOTHING to do with the footage being deleted.

A Letterman insider explains to Gossip Cop that it was one of the show’s staffers who asked that the video be erased because it’s “standard policy not to shoot guests backstage,” especially in certain prohibited areas.

Maybe Gallagher should make sure his inaccurate and mean-spirited blog post is deleted.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry had a less than stellar performance during this week’s GOP debate, but at least he still has a sense of humor.

The Texas governor appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” to read a list of Top Ten of “excuses” for his brain freezing up at a critical moment, and, wouldn’t you know it, Justin Bieber is involved.

While Mariah Yeater‘s baby daddy allegations against The Biebs are serious, that hasn’t stopped Bieber paternity jokes from infiltrating everything from presidential politics to country music parodies.

As you’ll recall, Tracy Morgan went off on an anti-gay rant in Nashville last June.

He then apologized, and in an exclusive statement to Gossip Cop said, “I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville… this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”

Morgan even met with homeless, gay teens, and later returned to Nashville to personally say he was sorry.

While in Nashville, Morgan said, “I want to apologize to my friends, my family and my fans, and everyone in every community who was offended… From the bottom of my heart… I apologize.”

But judging from his appearance on “Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday, the “30 Rock” star now believes it was just all a “big misunderstanding.”

Though the talk show host gave Morgan every opportunity to again say he was “sorry,” the comedian didn’t take the bait.

Morgan claimed he couldn’t even recall what he said to offend the Nashville audience. The comedian explained, “I can’t remember… that was maybe 50 shows ago.

David Letterman isn’t backing down from the jihadist threats against him.

In fact, he devotes his entire monologue and Top Ten list on tonight’s “Late Show” to the subject.

Gossip Cop has a preview of some of the monologue jokes here:

- “Thank you very much for being here tonight. We have great audiences night in and night out, but tonight especially, it means a lot to me. Tonight, you people are more, to me, honestly, more than an audience … you’re more like a human shield.”

- “I’m so sorry, I’m a little late coming out. Backstage, I was talking to the guy from CBS. We were going through the CBS life insurance policy to see if I was covered for Jihad.”

Tonight is the first time Letterman has taped a new program since death threats against him were posted on Shumukh-al-Islam, which frequently carries messages from Al Qaeda and its supporters.

A user identified as Umar al-Basrawi took offense to Letterman making light of the death of Ilyas Kashmiri, an Al Qaeda operative who was taken out by air strike.

While discussing Kashmiri’s killing on his show, Letterman drew his hand across his neck.

The al-Basrawi message reads, “Is there not amongst you a Sayyid Nosair al-Masri (may Allah release him) to cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever,” apparently in admiration for a man tied to the 1990 murder of an Israeli politician and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

“[Letterman] showed his evil nature and deep hatred for Islam and Muslims… We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck.”

Letterman, who is not Jewish, apparently has no plans to hold his tongue.

David Letterman was talking about children with Julia Roberts on the “Late Show” when he mentioned, “One of my sadnesses in life is that my son does not have a brother or a sister — older or younger.”

The audience interrupted his conversation with Roberts by giving a collective “Awww!”  - which prompted the talk show host to salute them a double flip-off.

It turns out one of their most heated exchanges on set involved… a song by Feist.

Justin Bieber stopped by “Late Show with David Letterman” last night, and the talk show host had fun with the young superstar, who presented the evening’s “Top Ten” list.

Letterman began by saying, “He’s just a kid, come on… Look at this,” before adding, “Seriously, quit throwing the paper on the lawn.”

The host went on to crack, “He has no idea who I am,” and asked Bieber, “You don’t stay up this late, do you?”

Bieber then presented the “Top Ten Little-Known Facts About Justin Bieber.”

Cameron Diaz visited the “Late Show with David Letterman” last night to promote her new movie Bad Teacher, and shared the “exclusive” story behind her infamous Alex Rodriguez popcorn-feeding incident at this past year’s Super Bowl.

Diaz says right before she was caught on-camera feeding her boyfriend the snack, A-Rod reached over to grab some of her last few kernels, and she greedily swatted his hand away.

The actress says she then felt bad, telling the Yankee, “I love you too much. I’m gonna give it to you,” and fed him popcorn while, unbeknownst to them cameras were catching the intimate moment on tape.

Jon Cryer has had an interesting few months, watching his career take a roller coaster ride thanks to “Two and a Half Men” co-star Charlie Sheen‘s epic meltdown.

The actor was on “Late Show with David Letterman” last night, and opened up about everything, including Sheen’s downfall and the unexpected addition of Ashton Kutcher.

Cryer was mostly in good humor about the whole thing, although he does sound very serious about wanting Sheen to get the help he needs.

He also says that for all of Sheen’s previous behavior, no one expected things to disintegrate like they did.

“I didn’t see it coming,” says Cryer. “Nobody saw it coming.”

Bill Maher was on “The Late Show with David Letterman” tonight, and, not surprisingly, conversation turned to Donald Trump‘s possible presidential candidacy.

Like fellow comedians Bill Cosby and Jerry Seinfeld (and even Charlie Sheen), Maher sounds less than enthused about the “Celebrity Apprentice” star running.

“I don’t know why we are taking him so seriously,” Maher said of Trump. “Why are we listening to this curiosity from the 80s?”

Then the comic made a comparison we’d never predict.

“It’s like opening up the paper and finding out John Wayne Bobbitt‘s severed penis is the ambassador to France.”

Wow.

Maher also believes that Trump will wind up running, while Letterman believes it’s just a publicity stunt. When Letterman suggested they bet, Maher took him up on it.

“Let’s wager – let’s wager a week’s pay. Mine against yours.”

Letterman didn’t seem to like those stakes.

Courteney Cox appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” to promote Scream 4… and talk about David Arquette.

The actress confirmed a story her estranged husband told Howard Stern about the former couple’s recent time together in Disney World.

It seems Arquette tried to initiate some intimacy on the trip, but Cox wasn’t having it.

“He did try to hit on me,” she tells Letterman. “He hit pretty hard, and I said, ‘You don’t have a fast pass right now. Not for that ride!’”

James Franco visited another oft-criticized Academy Awards host, David Letterman, to trade horror stories about the job.

Letterman bombed as Oscars host in 1995.

“It was horrible,” he told Franco, joking, “I was so bad that they talked for a while about shutting down the motion picture industry.”

But at least no one accused Letterman of being stoned, observed Franco, which seems to be what everyone assumed led to the young star’s laid-back approach when it was his turn this year.

“People said I was under the influence,” said the 127 Hours star, who explained that he took the job seriously and did it as well as he could, but that anyone would appear to be low-energy compared with his Oscars co-host, Anne Hathaway.

“I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to [her],” joked Franco.

He also points out how everyone pretended not to care about the Oscars – until he didn’t host as some people wished.

The full interview airs on Friday.

“Charlie Sheen’s make-your-head-spin media tour takes another pit stop on Wednesday: the outspoken Two and a Half Men star stops by The Late Show With David Letterman,” reports RadarOnline.com.

“The interview will be filmed at his Los Angeles mansion during the early hours of the afternoon, we’re told,” writes RadarOnline, a site that keep us busy “busting bad dish,” and could gain some credibility if it were to fact-check its stories.

According to the  blog, a production source said, “Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra are even considering wearing t-shirts that read, ‘Winning,’” referring to Sheen’s constant catchphrase.

Well, far from “winning,” RadarOnline has lost again with this piece.

A rep for “Late Show with David Letterman” confirms to Gossip Cop that there’s “definitely not an interview happening.”

David Letterman explains on tonight’s “Late Show” that he was “duped” into believing Lindsay Lohan was going to do tomorrow’s “Top Ten” list.

The late-night talk show host says he did a joke last week about “Lohan stealing a Grammy award,” and afterwards received a call from a guy who said, “Lindsay thought that joke was hilarious… She wants to be on your show.”

Letterman says he then exclaimed “Great!” and right away called CBS’ publicity department and told them “get the press release out immediately.”

But as the funnyman notes, Lohan later said it wasn’t true  - something the actress told Gossip Cop late last night.

Letterman admits, “I have no one to blame but myself, and boy is my face is red.”

“I hope I didn’t embarrass you Lindsay and your family,” ends Letterman in his apology on the video below.

Lindsay Lohan was slated to present the Top Ten list on Thursday’s “The Late Show with David Letterman,” according to the show’s head writer Justin Stangel.

Stangel even tweeted, “BREAKING @LindsayLohan will be presenting the Top Ten List on Thursday’s @Late_Show #Letterman.”

And a source close to the show confirmed to Gossip Cop that the actress would be on a satellite feed from Los Angeles for the comedic countdown.

But Lohan herself tells us she “never” said she was going to do the Top Ten.

So here’s what happened, according to a spokesman for the show: “Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday’s LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, as had been previously announced. We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf.”

“We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future,” the statement added.

It has since been revealed that Michael Lohan was behind the unauthorized booking.

Irina Shayk, who has previously graced the inside pages of Sports Illustrated, has won the magazine’s coveted cover.

The Russian model’s cover was briefly revealed earlier today on a large billboard in New York’s Times Square for a segment to air later tonight on “Late Show with David Letterman.” However, those in the area at the time of the taping were treated to an early glimpse of Shayk in her two-color bikini.

In addition to her work on the catwalk and in the pages of fashion magazines, Shayk is also known for dating soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Howard Stern is definitely on Team Dave.

The radio host appeared visited “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night, and was not shy expressing his feelings about rival Jay Leno.

“You know, as well as everyone in this room, Jay is horrible, right?” Stern asked Letterman, who seemed a bit uneasy as the audience cheered.

Stern was particularly baffled by Letterman’s decision to appear with Leno in a Super Bowl commercial a year ago.

“We had the guy down on the ground… you had your foot on his neck,” Stern told Letterman, alluding to Leno’s bad publicity during last winter’s conflict with Conan O’Brien.

“I didn’t like it,” said Stern of Letterman’s friendly interaction with Leno, before recommending that the entire “Late Show” staff needed an “attitude adjustment” to become more competitive.

Tina Fey did her Sarah Palin impression on “Late Show with David Letterman” last night.

After claiming to be out of practice, Fey showed some flashes of her Palin persona, talking about “mama grizzlies” and Republican midterm election victories.

Fey also took a light jab at Palin by noting that Fox News refers to her as “Governor Palin.”

“That’s like calling me ‘Dairy Queen Employee,” said Fey.

“I was once, but I quit!”

Gossip Cop suspected it from the beginning, but that’s what actor-director Casey Affleck is now finally revealing about I’m Still Here, the reported “documentary” with Joaquin Phoenix.

After roughly two years of manufactured mystery surrounding Phoenix’s odd behavior and grizzly appearance, Affleck – who directed the film – is proving that appearances can indeed be deceiving.

Speaking to the New York Times, Affleck said of Phoenix, “It’s a terrific performance, it’s the performance of his career.”

Contrary to what many were led to believe, Phoenix hadn’t retired from acting in favor of a rap career. He was just, uh, acting like he did.

But Affleck insists that the goal wasn’t to dupe the media or consumers.

“I never intended to trick anybody,” he said. “The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind.”

So, what about Phoenix’s infamously bizarre appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in February 2009? Did Letterman know what was really going on?

Nope, according to Affleck, who added that the point of the whole appearance was simply to show the downfall of a celebrity (which appeared to be what was happening during the “Late Show” interview).

So, why not reveal that from the start?

“We wanted to create a space. You believe what’s happening is real,” he said.

Joaquin Phoenix is returning to the scene of the mime.

The enigmatic actor will guest on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on September 22, coming back to the chair where he gave one of television’s all-time awkward interviews back in February 2009.

Rather than promote his film at the time (Two Lovers), a bearded Phoenix sat mostly unresponsive to Letterman’s questions, leaving the host and his audience confused.

The clip later became a viral sensation and is included in I’m Still Here, a documentary about Phoenix’s mysterious period of retirement from acting.

Michael Douglas, who’s on “Late Show with David Letterman” tonight, just completed his first week of chemotherapy and radiation.

And he tells the talk show host that though he’s staring at an “eight-week struggle,” he’s feeling confident about his recovery.

“You’ve never looked better to me, and this proves that you’re a tough guy, for God’s sakes,” said Letterman to much applause.

Douglas replied, “Let’s just say … I’m pretty lit up right now.”

After being checked for what Douglas felt was a sore throat, it was discovered that he had stage-four cancer which, as the actor said, is “intense.”

According to Douglas, since the cancer is still above the neck, he has an 80 percent or better chance for a full recovery.

When Letterman asked what could have contributed to his condition, Douglas acknowledged that he used to smoke and drink. “This particular type of cancer,” said Douglas, “is caused by alcohol and drinking.”

A concerned Letterman asked in earnest, “Can I do something for you?” to which Douglas responded, ”Ahh, give me a hug.”

The interview airs later tonight.

It’s promotion time, and for this go-around Jay Leno‘s got Robert Pattinson.

A source close to the production tells Gossip Cop, Pattinson will be on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on June 15 to promote Eclipse.

Last time around, while promoting New Moon, Pattinson appeared on rival “Late Show with David Letterman,” where the talk show host famously told the Twilight star, “Oh, bite me,” when Pattinson said he’s been “cryptically avoiding” answering whether he’s dating Kristen Stewart.

The tables were turned on David Letterman Friday when the late-night host appeared as a guest on “Live! With Regis and Kelly,” where he admitted he felt “depressed” after his affairs became public last October.

“You take a look at the explosion,” Letterman said, “and it knocks you down and you wake up every morning and you’re scared and you’re depressed and sad.”

The comments came towards the end of the interview, after co-host Regis Philbin asked Letterman how his home life was.

The “Late Show” host, invoking his trademark humor, replied, “I don’t know if people know about this, but I’ve had some trouble.”

But Letterman painted a brighter picture of his life today, noting that getting knocked down lets you “start looking at the pieces left of your life,” which now can “be better, in a different way.”
