‘Bridesmaids’ Becomes Top-Grossing R-Rated Female Comedy Ever

There’s a new all-time box office queen.

‘Bridesmaids’ has passed ‘Sex and the City’ to become the highest-grossing R-rated female comedy in movie history.

The hit, starring Kristen Wiig and now in its eighth week on the Top Ten chart, has now earned $152.9 million at the domestic box office. ‘Sex and the City’ finished at $152.6 million.

Animals aren’t the only ones who love Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig.

PETA has named the two comedy stars The Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2011.

The pair beat out other meat-averse notables like Natalie Portman, Olivia Wilde, Anne Hathaway and Woody Harrelson.

‘Thor’ hammered the competition again at the box office. Chris Hemsworth’s comic book goliath earned $34.5 million this weekend to fend off ‘Bridesmaids,’ the Kristen Wiig-led ensemble comedy, which took second place with a higher than expected $24.4 million. Coming in third was ‘Fast Five,’ which banked $19.5 million in its third weekend.

Our troublemaking friends at E! ended up starting a rumor last night while campaigning to get Robert Pattinson a hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.”

They asked three castmembers, Seth Meyers, Kristen Wiig, and Andy Samberg on the red carpet of the Emmys last night if they would like Pattinson to host SNL this season, and all three gave the thumbs-up. Meyers, when asked, “So the powers that be at SNL would be into Rob hosting?” responded “Yes, absolutely.” So does that mean Pattinson will get to host this season?
