The 2012 Kennedy Center Honors will celebrate, among others, David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman and Led Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin will be recognized as a band, along with members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones getting individual honors as well.

Oprah and Paul McCartney to Get Kennedy Center Honors

A queen and a knight will receive Kennedy Center Honors this year.

Daytime television empress Oprah Winfrey and Sir Paul McCartney lead the list of cultural figures announced on Tuesday as recipients of Kennedy Center Honors.

Musician Merle Haggard, choreographer Bill T. Jones, and composer Jerry Herman will also be feted.

Lena Horne dead at 92

Lena Horne, who paved the way for numerous black performers, died in New York last night at the age of 92.

Horne was the first person of color signed to a long-term contract with a major Hollywood studio.

She starred in such films as “Stormy Weather,” “Ziegfeld Follies” and “Cabin in the Sky.”

Horne, however, was best known as a singer.
