Country music’s big night is here with the 45th CMA Awards.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood co-host the ceremony, which kicks off at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

Among the scheduled live performers are Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.

The nominees for Entertainer of the Year are Swift, Urban, Paisley, Shelton and Jason Aldean.

Tom Cruise‘s adopted son Connor is “desperate for his dad’s love,” reports In Touch, which characterizes the father and son’s relationship as “strange and cold.”

A supposed “source” for the tabloid claims, “Tom is a very difficult man to get to know…. It’s almost like he treats Connor like a business associate rather than a son.

The alleged source adds that the 16-year-old is also extremely jealous of his five-year-old sister, Suri.

While Suri is lavished with “attention, fancy family trips and essentially whatever her heart desires materially,” Connor is left out in the cold by his dad and stepmom, Katie Holmes, says In Touch.

Connor’s supposedly bitter because he thinks his half-sister “gets a lot more of Tom’s time and attention” than he got as a child.

The “source” says, “He’s been in therapy on and off” to help him “deal with his family drama, but he still gets very emotional.”

OK, here’s what’s true about this story: Connor Cruise is adopted.

Here’s what’s not: Everything else.

A source close to Cruise call the story “disgusting” and “wrong,” and tells Gossip Cop, “They are super-close and Connor is on set with him all the time when he can be, and is going on the Mission [Impossible] tour.”

The only “drama” here is what’s being manufactured by In Touch.

Taylor Swift is up against the guys at this year’s Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.

Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, defending champ Brad Paisley and Swift have been announced as the nominees for Entertainer of the Year at the ceremony, which airs live from Nashville on November 9.

The category of Female Vocalist of the Year includes Swift, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Sara Evans and last year’s winner, Miranda Lambert.

Shelton will defend his Male Vocalist of the Year title against Paisley, Urban, Aldean and Kenny Chesney.

Meanwhile, the Vocal Group of the Year will be chosen from the following nominees: The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band and Little Big Town.

Underwood and Paisley will host the CMAs for the fourth time.

“CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock!” airs tonight on ABC, featuring highlights from the four-day country music festival, which had its 40th anniversary earlier this summer.

Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban are among the artists whose performances will be shown.

The show will be broadcast starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Keith Urban allegedly lashed out last Wednesday at a paparazzo in Nashville named Willem Pieterson, and kicked and banged his car.

In a statement to Gossip Cop from Don Aaron of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Urban allegedly went on the attack after Pieterson snapped photos of the country singer after he and Nicole Kidman were leaving a restaurant named Giovanni’s.

“Pieterson alleges that the couple got into their vehicle and pulled up to his vehicle in the wrong lane. Pieterson alleges that Urban yelled at him and banged on his window,” says Aaron’s statement, which adds, “Pieterson alleges that Urban got out and banged on Pieterson’s car with his fist and kicked the rear passenger door.”

According to the statement, “Police viewed the victim’s door and observed that it was not damaged. The incident report bears the classification of intimidation. Follow up is being conducted to sort out the detail of this matter.”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have a new baby, Gossip Cop confirms!

Their daughter, Faith Margaret, was born via surrogate in Nashville on December 28.

Kidman and Urban are the biological parents.

“Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret,” says the couple in a statement.

“No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier.”

Kidman and Urban wed in 2006.

They welcomed their first daughter, Sunday Rose, in 2008.

Oprah Winfrey is now relaxing in picturesque Fiji, following a frenzied week with fans in Australia.

After Winfrey and her audience visited some of Australia’s major attractions, including the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef – and taped shows at Sydney’s famed Opera House, the talk show host is spending this week (and Christmas) on the South Pacific island nation with longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham.

“Fiji is one of those destinations where we like people to come and have their own private time, and we’re here to ensure that happens,” said Fiji’s tourism minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, without an ounce of irony. Sayed-Khaiyum, who confirmed Winfrey’s stay by acknowledging, “We know she is here for a holiday and respect that,” added, ”We don’t want Fiji to become a playground for the paparazzi.”

While their was criticism about the Australian government picking up the $5 million tab for Winfrey’s work trip, the talk show queen countered that the publicity for the country was well worth it.

She told reporters: “It is immeasurable what four hours of a love festival about your country broadcast in 145 countries around the world can do.”

Among Winfrey’s guests on the shows from Down Under were Jon Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Bono, Russell Crowe, and Hugh Jackman, who was injured during a grand entrance onstage.

“We can’t help but notice Nicole Kidman‘s belly isn’t exactly flat,” observes HollywoodLife‘s baby site, speculating that the actress might be pregnant.

Well, Gossip Cop “can’t help but notice” the absolutely horrific track record the outlet has when it comes to declaring women pregnant.

(We lost count after the twelfth wrong HollywoodLife post claiming Jennifer Garner is pregnant.)

But Gossip Cop took the time to look into the possibility that Kidman is pregnant, just to be sure.

She is not.

A rep for Kidman tells Gossip Cop the actress is “absolutely, positively NOT pregnant.”

“American Idol” has gone online.

For the first time in the TV juggernaut’s history, singers will be able to submit an audition video through MySpace.

Potential contestants’ entries must be no longer than 40 seconds and selected from a group of songs, including “Ain’t No Sunshine” (Bill Withers), “Kiss a Girl” (Keith Urban) and “Copacabana” (Barry Manilow).

Videos must be received by October 6.

Fox announced that a “select number” of individuals who audition online will move on to the Los Angeles tryouts.

Tens of thousands of people have already auditioned at traditional, in-person sessions this summer in Nashville, Austin and other cities.

On tonight’s telethon for Tennessee flood relief, held at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Paisley first sang, “Welcome To The Future,” and then turned to his wife Kimberly Williams Paisley, who co-hosted the show (with “Desperate Housewives” star James Denton), and announced, “I think it’s time to start things off with a donation. We’re going to donate $100,000.”

He then asked his wife, “Is that OK?”

It was.

Other performers at the concert/fundraiser included Lady Antebellum, Kellie Pickler, and Keith Urban.

The nominees for this year’s CMT Music Awards have been announced.

Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, and Jason Aldean lead the way with three nominations apiece.

Swift (“You Belong With Me”) and Underwood (“Cowboy Casanova”) are joined by Miranda Lambert (“White Liar”) and Reba McEntire (“Consider Me Gone”) in the Female Video of the Year category.

Meanwhile, Aldean (“The Truth”) and Billy Currington (“People Are Crazy”) will face off against stars Toby Keith (“American Ride”), Tim McGraw (“Southern Voice”) and Keith Urban (” ‘Til Summer Comes Around) for Male Video of the Year.

Kid Rock will host the ceremony live on June 9. The final nominees for Video of the Year will be announced during the telecast, with online voting held during the show.

The all-star “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon raised a record-setting $57 million — and that figure is still rising.

The two-hour telethon, which aired on every network and dozens upon dozen of other stations, drew the biggest names in showbiz to help the island nation, where an estimated 200,000 people died as a result of the January 12 earthquake.

The event was hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and featured poignant reports from Anderson Cooper in Haiti.

Among those manning the phones or giving presentations were Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Bill Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Degeneres, and Matt Damon, to name a very few.

The fundraiser had several amazing performances by such artists including, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Shakira.

The money raised was a record, and yet it still doesn’t include donations from corporations or the performed songs that one can download from iTunes for 99 cents.

The two-hour telethon, which will air on every major network and dozens upon dozens of other stations across the U.S. and around the world, is being hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and Anderson Cooper from Haiti.

So who will you see tonight?

According to Taylor Lautner’s rep, the “New Moon” heartthrob will not be participating in the “Hope for Haiti” telethon.

But something that should be music to your ears is the long list of musicians who will be performing during the two-hour fundraiser, which is being aired on every major network and numerous other cable outfits.

In New York, where Haiti native Wyclef Jean will host the show, there will be performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Sting, and Jean himself.

Co-host George Clooney will be in Los Angeles, where Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Justin Timberlake are slated to perform.

And Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Coldplay will hit the stage in London, where Robert Pattinson will lend a helping hand as well.

The music will be available, beginning Saturday, on iTunes and all the proceeds will go to the charities benefiting from the telethon, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam, Partners in Health, and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation.

Latifah then got Lautner, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban to pose for a photo with her that was taken by a seat filler.

Gossip Cop didn’t forget about Kristen Stewart. Many of you asked whether she would be attending tonight’s People’s Choice Awards, the first big Hollywood event of the year.

While a rep for Stewart did not get back to us, sources at Summit Entertainment say only “New Moon” stars Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz are slated to attend, and a rep for the awards show told Gossip Cop that Stewart was not on the list of attendees.

Stewart was nominated in the “Favorite Movie Actress” category.

“New Moon” is up for “Favorite Movie” and “Favorite On-Screen Team.”

As reported yesterday, Robert Pattinson will NOT be at the People’s Choice Awards since he has prior work commitments.

And while Lautner’s ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift will be at the presentation, don’t expect any drama.

Still, there’s plenty of reason to watch the show, being hosted by Queen Latifah, especially if you’re a fan of Sandra Bullock, Steve Carell, Carrie Underwood, Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Alba, LL Cool J, George Lopez, Keith Urban, Sacha Baron Cohen or Hugh Jackman, among others. 

The People’s Choice Awards are being broadcast live on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

The People’s Choice Awards just got more interesting.

Taylor Swift is expected to run into her most recent ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner, now that singing star has just been added as one of the celebrities expected at tomorrow’s awards show, which hands out trophies to film, television and music stars, all based on fan voting.

More than 60 million fans voted for the 30 different categories including, Favorite Movie Actor, Favorite TV Comedy, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite On-Screen Team, and even Favorite Animal Show.

Among the top nominated movies and TV shows, respectively, are the vampire-based “New Moon” and “True Blood.”

In addition to the two Taylors, also expected at the Queen Latifah-hosted show, being aired on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, are Sandra Bullock, Steve Carell, Carrie Underwood, Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Alba, LL Cool J, George Lopez, Kellan Lutz, Keith Urban, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Hugh Jackman.
