Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994 in Ontario, Canada to Jeremy Bieber and Pattie Mallette, who was 18 at the time. The couple never married, and Mallette raised Bieber with the help of her parents. Bieber, however, now has a close relationship with his father, as well as his younger half-siblings, Jaxon and Jasmyn.
Bieber’s love for music developed at an early age, first with the drums, and then through singing and guitar playing. He performed in local talent shows and even on the streets before Mallette began posting videos of him on YouTube. It was those clips that led to his discovery by talent manager Scooter Braun, who encouraged Bieber to come to Atlanta to record music. That, in turn, led Bieber to connect with Usher, and then a record deal with Island Records in 2008.
Continuing to use online platforms like YouTube, Bieber’s first songs, like “One Time” and “One Less Lonely Girl,” garnered a huge fan base, and were featured on his 2009 EP, “My World.” That was followed by 2010’s “My World 2.0″ album, which, with the song “Baby,” catapulted Bieber’s career to a new level. In 2011, Bieber released his first concert film, “Never Say Never,” as well as a Christmas-themed album, “Under The Mistletoe.” The follow year came the album “Believe,” and its hits “Boyfriend” and “As Long As You Love Me.” Then, in 2013, leading up to the release of his second concert movie, “Believe,” Bieber released new music weekly, eventually putting out the “Journals” compilation.
He is currently believed to be working on a new album, though it’s unclear if it will be released in 2015. The star’s personal life remains a popular topic, particularly his on-and-off relationship with Selena Gomez and his various runs-in with the law, including arrests in both the United States and Canada.
