Oprah Winfrey will announce Jonathan Franzen’s new novel “Freedom” as her latest book club selection on Friday, nine years after the author and talk show host feuded over his book “The Corrections.”

“Freedom” has been hailed by critics and landed Franzen on a recent cover of Time magazine.

In 2001, however, the author famously expressed discomfort with Winfrey’s endorsement of “The Corrections,” leading her to cancel his appearance on her program.
