Kate Middleton has been declared “Hat Person of the Year” by something called The Headwear Association.

In an online poll, the Duchess of Cambridge received an astounding 91% of the vote, beating Rachel Zoe (4%), Ne-Yo (2%), and 1% finishers Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Charlie Sheen.

Middleton joins previous “Hat Person of the Year” recipients Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.

Founded in 1908, The Headwear Association calls itself the “oldest association in the hat trade.”

When she looks back on this time in her life, the Duchess will surely remember most fondly her defeat of Charlie Sheen and Rachel Zoe in a hat contest.

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are “all but officially finished,” according to a cover story from People magazine.

The longtime couple, who have two young children together, “have not appeared side-by-side on a red carpet for more than a year,” notes the mag, which goes on to claim the pair has been leading “separate lives” for quite some time.

People adds, “Some in their circle say the couple of nearly 14 years have already split,” quoting an insider as saying, “It’s so sad.”

Gossip Cop reached out to reps for Depp and Paradis when rumors of relationship trouble surfaced earlier this month, but received no response.

But Gervais saved his most cutting remark – actually, a question – for Johnny Depp.

Who would you most want to kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve?

The OMG! celeb site on Yahoo! polled more than 1,000 readers for a Hollywood Holiday Survey – and the results are pretty interesting.

On the question of which male celebrity respondents would most like to smooch on New Year’s Eve, George Clooney tops the list, with 28% of the vote, just beating Johnny Depp (27%).

Ryan Reynolds came in third with 18%, ahead of Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling, who rounded out the Top 5 with 12% and 7%, respectively.

As for the ladies, 22% of the men polled picked Jennifer Aniston as the number one celeb they’d like to ring in the New Year with a kiss.

Aniston edged out Halle Berry with 18% and Scarlett Johansson with a close 17%.

Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox took fourth and fifth places with 13% and 12%, respectively.

Johnny Depp‘s bodyguards allegedly roughed up a middle-aged woman named Robyn Ecker at an Iggy Pop concert in L.A. on Thursday at L.A.’s Palladium.

According to Ecker’s police report, she and her husband had seats next to Depp, and while dancing at the concert — which was a birthday gift to her husband — the 52-year-old woman invaded the actor’s space.

That’s when Depp’s bodyguards grabbed her arms and wrestled her to the ground, says Ecker, who may have had a cocktail too many.

After the incident, Ecker went to a local hospital to get checked out.

While Depp was not personally involved in the alleged takedown, Gossip Cop is reaching out to his rep for the actor’s account of the incident.

News of Ecker’s run-in with the Pirates of Caribbean star’s bodyguards was first reported by TMZ.

Bradley Cooper is People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” this year.

He told the magazine, “I think it’s really cool that a guy who doesn’t look like a model can have this [title]… I think I’m a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying.”

As for his dating status, Cooper says he’s a “single 36-year-old male.”

“If you’re a single man and you happen to be in this business,” he adds, “you’re deemed a player. But I don’t see myself as a ladies’ man.”

Last year, Ryan Reynolds received the honor, taking over for two-time winner Johnny Depp.

There’s now a red-band trailer for 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

The movie is a reboot of the 1980s Johnny Depp TV series about cops going undercover in a high school.

Ice Cube also stars in the movie, which comes out next March.

Puss In Boots has easily scratched its way to the top of the weekend box office.

Spinning off from Shrek, the Antonio Banderas-voiced character took in $34 million, breaking a Halloween weekend record. Saw 3 had previously held the title with $33.6 million.

Last week’s champ, Paranormal Activity 3, came in second with $18.5 million.

The Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried sci-fi flick In Time nabbed third with $12 million.

Footloose and Johnny Depp‘s The Rum Diary took fourth and fifth places with $5.4 million and $5 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Real Steel ($4.9 million), The Three Musketeers ($3.5 million), George Clooney‘s The Ides of March ($2.9 million), Brad Pitt‘s Moneyball ($2.5 million), and Courageous ($1.9 million).

Ricky Gervais famously tweaked Johnny Depp (among others) in a blistering monologue at last year’s Golden Globes.

Now the two have a mock confrontation in a clip from Gervais’ new series “Life’s Too Short” – except, according to Gervais, a lot of people seem to think it’s genuine!

“This is why mankind is finished,” Gervais jokes on Twitter. “Loads of people think the Johnny Depp clip is real. I kid you not. It is 100% scripted! Unbelievable.”

We reported about Depp’s appearance on “Life’s Too Short” last March, and can assure anyone who has doubts – the chilly standoff between the two stars is a joke.

An awkward, uncomfortable, but very funny joke.

The actor and longtime musician took the stage with former bandmate Bill Carter, as well as ZZ Top icon Billy Gibbons for a jam session at the Continental Club.

According to reports, the venue swelled to more than double capacity for the special show.

Johnny Depp tripped and fell over the weekend amid a crush of paparazzi in Los Angeles who had gathered to hound the star as he walked to his car.

The actor left Hollywood establishment 25 Degrees and was signing autographs for fans when his feet got tangled and he tumbled to the ground with the club’s doorman.

Photographers pushing their way toward Depp and the fans immediately made the scene more chaotic.

Always a good sport, Depp got back to his feet and finished signing the autograph before being escorted to the waiting vehicle.

The paparazzi, who pretend to freak out and continue shoving cameras in his face instead of giving some room, are another story.

Johnny Depp could reportedly play Dr. Seuss.

A live-action movie about the beloved children’s author (born Theodor Geisel) is in the works, and Depp is set to produce – and possibly star in – the biopic project.

Geisel, of course, wrote some of the last century’s most enduring kids books, from The Cat in the Hat to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, both of which have been turned into movies themselves.

Depp’s The Rum Diary will open soon, as will his next gothic Tim Burton collaboration, Dark Shadows.

His association with classic children’s literature is well-established.

Among other roles, Depp has played Willy Wonka and the Mad Hatter, as well as Peter Pan writer J.M. Barrie.

Lil Wayne is in the book for “Most US Hot 100 Hits by a Rap Artist,” with 64 between 1999 and 2010.

J.K. Rowling recieved the title of “First Billionaire Author,” with her seven Harry Potter books selling more than 400 million copies worldwide.

Johnny Depp is listed as “Highest Paid Actor” ($75 million), and Sandra Bullock as “Highest Paid Actress” ($56 million), while “Two and a Half Men” star Angus T. Jones is the “Highest Paid Child Star,” earning $250,000 per episode.

The movie concerns a New York journalist (Depp) who moves to Puerto Rico to write for the local newspaper, becoming entangled in the wild dealings of a shady businessman (Aaron Eckhart) and his fiancée (Amber Heard).

There’s also a lot of rum.

The West Memphis Three have been freed after 18 years in prison for the murders of three Boy Scouts, a crime they’re widely believed to be innocent of committing.

Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder and Dixie Chicks‘ Natalie Maines, who along with a slew of other celebs have long proclaimed the men’s innocence, arrived at court today to show their support for Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley.

The men were convicted of the grisly May 1993 killings, in which three eight-year-old boys were hogtied and mutilated in West Memphis, Arkansas.

They were implicated largely based on a confession from Misskelley, who is borderline mentally impaired.

As new evidence further cast doubt on the men’s guilt, stars such as Johnny Depp, Vedder, Maines and the members of Metallica championed their innocence.

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson had also been funding an ongoing investigation on behalf of the men.

Johnny Depp‘s The Lone Ranger, has been shut down.

Disney has nixed its big-screen western that was to star Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger, and Depp as his sidekick, Tonto.

The Lone Ranger was to reteam members of Disney’s hit Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, including Depp, director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

The reason for the shut down of the production, which was to begin in October, is that there were problems slashing the film’s $250 million budget to $200 million.

Should the filmmakers be able to cut the costs, the movie could get back on track.

The Lone Ranger was slated for a December 21, 2012 release.

Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz‘s blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sailed smoothly to the top spot with $90.1 million in its debut.

Plus, the film earned $256.3 million overseas, making it the biggest international opening ever.

Meanwhile, the raunchy comedy Bridesmaids took a strong second place with $21.1 million.

Holdover action movies Thor ($15.5 million) and Fast Five ($10.2 million) came in third and fourth, respectively.

And family flick Rio finished in fifth with $4.7 million in its sixth week at the box office.

Rounding out the Top Ten were the graphic novel adaptation Priest ($4.6 million), Jumping The Broom (3.7 million), Something Borrowed ($3.5 million), Water For Elephants ($2.3 million), and Madea’s Big Happy Family ($1 million).

Johnny Depp got his start on “21 Jump Street” – and now he’s giving the movie reboot a boost.

Gossip Cop confirms that Depp, who starred as Tom Hanson in the original series, will film a short, uncredited cameo for the film, which stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

There are no further details about what such a cameo would look like.

Coincidentally, while 21 Jump Street is coming to the big screen, its original heartthrob is (kind of) returning to television.

Last month, Ricky Gervais confirmed that Depp will appear on “Life’s Too Short,” his new series.

Johnny Depp will appear on Ricky Gervais‘ new sitcom, “Life’s Too Short,” confirms the comedian.

Writing on his blog, Gervais confirmed Depp’s participation while debunking a rumor that Jerry Seinfeld was set to guest star.

The show, about a talent agency for dwarves and its abrasive manager, will air on HBO and BBC2. It comes from Gervais and his longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant.

Meanwhile, Gervais and Will Arnett are set to guest star on the season finale of “The Office” on May 19.

Battle: Los Angeles easily won this weekend’s box office war.

The alien invasion film, starring Aaron Eckhart, earned $36 million.

In second place with $23.1 million was last week’s top film, the Johnny Depp-voiced animated lizard film, Rango.

Red Riding Hood, starring Amanda Seyfried and directed by Twilight‘s Catherine Hardwicke, placed third with $14 million.

The Adjustment Bureau ($11.5 million) and the new, animated Disney film Mars Needs Moms ($6.8 million) took fourth and fifth places.

Rounding out the Top Ten are Beastly ($5.1 million), Hall Pass ($5.1 million), Just Go With It ($4 million), The King’s Speech ($3.5 million) and Gnomeo & Juliet ($3.5 million).

The rumor flying today like pigeons over Piazza San Marco in Venice is that Johnny Depp dropped major dough for a home in the picturesque Italian city.

“Depp paid $13.4 million on a house in Venice after falling in love with the city during filming ‘The Tourist’ with Angelina Jolie last year,” writes Starpulse, which, like other outlets, picked up a story from the local paper La Nuova Venezia.

According to Starpulse, Depp “outbid an Arab prince for the empty building, which is situated in the Santa Croce area of Venice and is one of the only available homes overlooking the famous Grand Canal.”

But much like the ground in Piazza San Marco, this story is full of crap.

A rep for Depp tells Gossip Cop that reports of the star buying a home in Venice are “not true.”

Johnny Depp is reportedly in talks to take over for Robert Downey, Jr. in the prequel to The Wizard of Oz.

Oz, the Great and Powerful tells the story of a young illusionist who flees the circus, only to have his hot air balloon caught up in a tornado that lands him in the land of Oz.

Downey was scheduled for the role but has dropped out of the project.

The wizard-to-be could now be Depp, according to THR.

Sam Raimi is set to direct.

Gossip Cop is looking to confirm the Depp report.

The actor has had a wildly successful history with Disney, the studio behind Oz, having starred in Alice in Wonderland and anchored the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

True Grit and Little Fockers were in a tight race for the top spot this New Year’s Weekend after a surprisingly strong Friday performance by the Jeff Bridges-Matt Damon western.

But it was the Ben Stiller comedy that was once again #1.

Little Fockers took in $26.3 million, while True Grit earned $24.5 million.

Coming in third place with $18.3 million was Tron: Legacy, followed by such other 3D films as Yogi Bear ($13 million), Chronicles of Narnia ($10.5 million), and Tangled ($10 million).

Mark Wahlberg‘s boxing flick The Fighter followed with $9.9 million.

Occupying the bottom three spots were Gulliver’s Travels ($9.1 million), Black Swan ($8.5 million), and The King’s Speech ($7.6 million).

The numbers are still estimates, and Gossip Cop will have updates.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader - the third film in the epic fantasy series – travels easily to the top of this weekend’s box office.

Meanwhile, The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, ends up having a less good trip to theaters.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of Dawn Treader takes the top spot with $24.5 million, followed in second place by The Tourist with $17 million.

Last week’s winner, Tangled, comes in third with $14.6 million.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows takes fourth place with $8.4 million, while Unstoppable brings in another $3.8 million.

Rounding out the Ten Ten are Black Swan ($3.6 million), Burlesque ($3.3 million), Love And Other Drugs ($3 million), Megamind ($2.7 million), and Due Date ($2.6 million).

Interestingly, Black Swan is being shown in far fewer theaters.
