‘True Grit’ Beats ‘Little Fockers,’ Along With Nicolas Cage and Gwyneth Paltrow

‘True Grit’ has topped the box office in its third weekend of release.

The Jeff Bridges-Matt Damon western earned $15 million to edge Ben Stiller’s ‘Little Fockers,’ which took in about $13.5 million to finish in second place.

New release ‘Season of the Witch’ (starring Nicolas Cage) racked up approximately $10.5 million in receipts, good enough for #3 on the chart.

‘True Grit’ and ‘Little Fockers’ were in a tight race for the top spot this New Year’s Weekend after a surprisingly strong Friday performance by the Jeff Bridges-Matt Damon western.

But it was the Ben Stiller comedy that was once again #1.

‘Little Fockers’ took in $26.3 million, while ‘True Grit’ earned $24.5 million. How did the other films do this holiday weekend?

Leading the pack this holiday weekend was “Little Fockers.”

Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro’s latest family dysfunction earned $34 million, beating out two Jeff Bridges movies for #1.

Bridges’ “True Grit” took second place with $25.6 million, followed by his film, “TRON: Legacy,” which secured third with $20.1 million. What did you see this holiday weekend?

“So what happened was… I got really high, like, really high,” said Cyrus of her “very serious five-minute drug problem.”

In a battle of 3D nostalgia trips, “TRON: Legacy” easily beat “Yogi Bear” for the top spot at this weekend’s box office.

The tech-heavy “TRON” sequel, featuring original star Jeff Bridges alongside Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, had a weekend take of $43.6 million.

Meanwhile, Yogi (voiced by Dan Aykroyd) and his CGI misadventures at Jellystone Park with sidekick Boo-Boo (Justin Timberlake) debuted at a distant second with $16.7 million in ticket receipts.

Coming in third was “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” with $12.4 million. What did you see this weekend?

Producers have announced the first batch of presenters at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Marisa Tomei and Oprah will be among the big names handing out Oscars.

Bridges and Bullock were last year’s winners in the lead acting categories.
