Javier Bardem has confirmed that he’ll play the villain in Bond 23, the as-yet titled upcoming James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007.

In an interview with “Nightline” (video below) about his charity work with west Saharan refugees, Bardem noted he would be Bond’s bad guy.

“I am very excited. My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun,” he said.

He added, “They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”

Eva Longoria and Eduardo Cruz are engaged, Star magazine claims.

The tabloid says Cruz popped the question while he and the “Desperate Housewives” actress were on a yacht in the Mediterranean with his sister, Penelope Cruz, and Javier Bardem… back in July.

(Hmm, so it took two months for this kinda big news to get to Star? And only Star?)

“After he proposed, Eva and Eduardo jumped into the water together,” claims a so-called “source” for the mag, explaining, “They’ve found their soul mate in each other.”

Wow, so is Longoria really now taking the plunge again after her divorce from Tony Parker?

No.

A source close to Longoria tells Gossip Cop the story is “not true.”

Javier Bardem is finalizing a deal to star in The Dark Tower, the massive film-and-TV adaptation of Stephen King‘s epic 7-book series, according to multiple reports.

The Oscar winner would play the story’s central character, gunslinger Roland Deschain.

Ron Howard is planning to turn King’s story into a movie trilogy, with a limited television series bridging the feature films. If he signs on to the massive project, Bardem would play the hero across both formats.

Production is due to begin next fall.

It is believed Bardem would play a villain, reports Deadline.

Bardem clearly has a talent for evil characters. He won an Oscar for his murderous character in No Country For Old Men.

The as-yet titled 23rd Bond film, being directed by Sam Mendes, is slated for release on November 9, 2012.

While Bardem, recently nominated for an Academy Award for Biutiful, was offered the Bond role, there’s still no word as to whether he’ll accept the part.

A little more than a week ago, Bardem and wife Penelope Cruz welcomed a son.

A rep for Cruz tells Gossip Cop, “Penelope and Javier welcomed their first son into their family last week. Both parents and baby are doing great.”

The couple married last July in the Bahamas.

Cruz confirmed her pregnancy in September.

Penelope Cruz is pregnant.

Yesterday, pictures emerged of Cruz wearing a flowing top while on the Puerto Rico set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, covering what appeared to be a baby bump.

Now reps for Cruz and husband Javier Bardem confirm, “Penelope is 4½-months pregnant.”

Cruz and Bardem, who costarred in Woody Allen‘s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, quietly tied the knot in the Bahamas in July.

Oscar winner Javier Bardem is reportedly expected to appear on the upcoming season of “Glee,” according to EW.com.

The site says the hunky Spaniard will play a rock star who becomes friends with Artie, played by Kevin McHale.

Series creator Ryan Murphy directs Bardem in this summer’s Eat Pray Love.

“We’re going to rock the house,” the actor is quoted as saying. “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.”

Bardem nabbed an Academy Award for his portrayal of a sociopath in No Country for Old Men, so high school should make for an easy transition.

For a long time there were rumors that Penelope Cruz was pregnant with handsome Javier Bardem’s baby. But Gossip Cop can assure you 100 percent that she is NOT in the family way.

A source close to Cruz tells Gossip Cop, “She is not pregnant.” Again, “not pregnant.” And multiple sources told Gossip Cop she looked tiny last night at her “Broken Embraces” premiere in Toronto. Oh wait, there’s one more key thing: She also slipped in a few cigarettes.
