“Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” starring James Franco and Freida Pinto, exceeded expectations at the box office and raked in $54 million.

“The Smurfs” took second with $21 million, while “Cowboys & Aliens” nabbed third place with $16.8 million.

Special effects sequel spectacular ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ once again beat the competition, earning $47 million in its second weekend at the box office.

Meanwhile, ‘Horrible Bosses’ had wonderful ticket sales.

The employer-employee revenge comedy, starring an ensemble including Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, came in second with a strong $28.1 million haul.

The Kevin James animal romp ‘Zookeeper’ secured third place with $21 million. What did you see this weekend?

Entertainment Weekly’s eyes were focussed on Prince William and Duchess Kate at Saturday evening’s BAFTA event in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, the outlet’s “ears” wandered off.

Jonah Hill says EW fabricated quotes from him in their round-up from the night, and Zooey Deschanel claims her own words were taken out of context.
