The “Glee” tribute to Michael Jackson received a bittersweet endorsement on Twitter from the late singer’s sister La Toya Jackson.

“This show #Glee of #MJGLEE makes me cry,” she tweeted after Tuesday’s special episode, adding, “I realize how much I miss my brother and how extremely talented he was!!!”

The episode featured roughly a dozen songs by the “King Of Pop,” including a virtual shot-for-shot remake of his “Scream” video with sister Janet.

LaToya said she wished to “thank the cast of @GLEEonFOX #Glee for performing an incredible job on your tribute to #Michael.”

“It was much appreciate[d],” she added.

The animal rights group PETA has named Janet Jackson its Grinch of the Year for 2011.

Jackson “won” the dishonor for launching a collection with fur company Blackglama.

PETA’s press release states, “When Janet Jackson had her infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own – unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career).”

It adds, “Ms. Jackson, you’re just plan nasty.”

PETA also cited Cameron Crowe (for using live animals instead of computer images in We Bought A Zoo) and Kim Kardashian (for refusing to wear furs as “fake” as they allege her marriage was).

Dr. Conrad Murray‘s manslaughter trial in the death of Michael Jackson continues today.

The defense is expected to finish its cross-examination of anesthesiology expert Steven Shafer, who testified last week that Murray was grossly negligent in administering propofol to Jackson.

Shafer also testified that it is “extremely unlikely” the King of Pop self-administered the dose of propofol that killed him because he had bad veins which made injections incredibly painful.

On Sunday, Janet Jackson announced she was cutting short the Australian leg of her “Number Ones” tour to join her family at the trial.

Today’s proceedings are slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. PT.

Janet Jackson is cutting short her Australian tour so she can join her family at the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who’s been charged with the involuntary manslaughter of her brother Michael.

The performer told the Associated Press, “When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different,” adding, “After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now… This saddens me in so many ways.”

Jackson’s “Number Ones” tour was slated to hit Melbourne on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

She’s rescheduled a one-night only show for November 3 at the city’s Rod Laver Arena.

The tour’s promoter, Paul Dainty, understood Jackson’s decision.

He said, “It is important that Janet is with her family at this critical point in the hearing. While Janet and our company apologize for any inconvenience for the reschedule of the Melbourne shows, we thank Janet for the great and successful concerts in Perth and Adelaide and eagerly await her return. … Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and the entire Jackson family.”

The prosecution in the Dr. Murray trial is scheduled to wrap its case as early as Monday, and then the defense will present its side.

Jermaine Dupri is a deadbeat dad, claims his baby mama in a lawsuit.

Sarai Jones is suing the music producer over missed child support payments after an Atlanta-area judge ordered Dupri to pay $2,500 per month and an additional $7,500, based on a paternity test.

DNA proved that Dupri and Jones have a seven-month-old daughter together.

Georgia records show that Dupri also owes the state more than $493,000 in back taxes for 2007.

His mansion was recently set to be auctioned after foreclosure.

Dupri has worked with major artists ranging from his ex, Janet Jackson, to Usher and Mariah Carey.

Janet Jackson opens up about about her brother Michael Jackson‘s death and other personal struggles – including poor body image – in an interview with Meredith Vieira set to air on “Today” and “Dateline NBC.”

Jackson describes seeing the late King of Pop for the final time, two days before her birthday, and how their last exchange was a mutual expression of love.

Jackson talks about how she’s only truly grieving now, a year and a half after Michael died.

The singer also discusses the toll of low self-esteem over the decades, even after she’d achieved huge success.

“I would literally bang my head up against the wall because I didn’t feel attractive,” says Jackson. “There was a lot of pain in my life… I felt very unattractive.”

The interview can be seen on “Today” on February 11 and 14, and on “Dateline NBC” on February 13.

In a Wednesday night stunner, Lee DeWyze beat heavily favored Crystal Bowersox to become the newest “American Idol” on judge Simon Cowell‘s final show.

Despite earning the judges’ endorsement during Tuesday’s decisive performances, Bowersox had to settle for runner-up status when Americans handed DeWyze the winning vote tally.

“I have never been happier in my life,” said the shy DeWyze.

Former judge Paula Abdul and other “Idol” luminaries returned to honor Cowell as the sharp-tongued Brit exited the program. Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson were among the finale’s performers.

But the biggest story was DeWyze, crowned the singing competition’s ninth champion.

Another day, another major malfunction for HollywoodLife.

“EXCLUSIVE! Audrina Patridge Fell Out Of Her Super Bowl Party Dress — And Told ‘The Hills’ Cameras to Keep Rolling!” bellows the site, hoping exclamation points are a good substitute for facts.

“It may not be on par with Janet Jackson‘s legendary nip-slip during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show,” the post claims, “But Audrina Patridge’s wardrobe malfunction at last night’s Maxim Super Bowl party in Miami was still totally hilarious.”

Do tell!

Patridge’s black mini dress “simply wasn’t able to contain her,” explains HollywoodLife, “and her boobs kept popping out while MTV cameras were rolling!” The site goes on to say the reality TV starlet “loved the attention” and didn’t ask the cameras to cut away.

That does sound funny! Too bad it didn’t happen!

“Audrina did not have a wardrobe malfunction of any kind while in Miami this weekend,” a rep for the Hills star tells Gossip Cop. “This rumor is utter BS.”

Even Patridge herself tweeted, “I did NOT have any sort of a wardrobe malfunction in Miami this weekend. It’s sad that some blogs resort to making things up to get [press.]”

“I admit I did get carried away, but I don’t see anything wrong with it,” Adam Lambert today told CBS’ “The Early Show” about his provocative performance on Sunday at the American Music Awards.

Lambert went on to say, “I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it.”

The performance, if you haven’t seen it, included Lambert kissing a male keyboard player, dragging a female dancer by her ankles, and having another dancer simulate oral sex on him as he sang his sexually charged song, “For Your Entertainment.”

After ABC received complaints about Lambert’s performance on the AMAs, “Good Morning America” canceled his scheduled appearance for today.

Well, “The Early Show,” in third place in the morning show wars, invited Lambert to the program, where he was interviewed and performed.

Lambert, who noted that at the AMAs there was a “Janet Jackson, crotch grab… I haven’t heard one peep about that,” added, “if it had been a female pop performer doing (his) moves… I don’t think there would be nearly as much of an outrage.” The reason for the uproar, he felt, is “because I’m a gay male.”

When asked this morning if he wanted to apologize, Lambert declined, and said his performance was at nearly 11 p.m., a time at which he didn’t believe children would be awake. “I’m not a baby sitter,” he said. “I’m a performer.”

And when questioned about what he’d do differently, if given the opportunity, Lambert admitted, “I would sing it a little bit better.”

Lambert didn’t perform “Four Your Entertainment” on “The Early Show.” Instead he sang “What Do You Want From Me” and “Music Again.”

The good-willed Lambert stated before his performance this morning, ”Parents, this is appropriate, I promise.”

In an interview airing tonight on ABC, Janet Jackson says her late brother’s drug problems led the family to intervene, and that Michael Jackson was “possibly” in denial about his addiction.

Jackson tells Robin Roberts that she and her family were not naive about the King of Pop‘s drug use and unsuccessfully reached out to him in his final years. “You can’t make ‘em drink the water,” she says of attempts to break Michael’s habits. Asked whether her brother was in denial, she says, “I wish he could answer this question for you and not me. I felt that he was in denial.”

Jackson also discusses Dr. Conrad Murray (her brother’s controversial physician) and the hit documentary “This Is It” in the interview.

At only 19 years of age, Taylor Swift has just entered the history books by claiming Billboard‘s record for the longest charting album of this century.

Taylor’s self-titled debut was released in October of 2006 and, to date, it has spent a record 157 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart. That is better than this decade’s previous record holder, Nickelback.

That’s not the only record she holds. Taylor has also had the most Top 10 debuts in a calendar year. Not too shabby.  

This week, Taylor will do the double duties of hosting and performing on “Saturday Night Live.” Only a few others have done that, including Janet Jackson, Sting, and Justin Timberlake.

Whoa!  Taylor Swift‘s Fearless 2010 Tour’s tickets went on sale this morning, and ALL 15 shows that were put on sale were sold out within MINUTES. Incredibly, every single seat in New York’s famed Madison Square Garden sold out in just ONE MINUTE.

The first 15 concerts that went on sale were for performances in New York City, Newark, Uniondale, NY, Philadelphia, Houston, Detroit, Washington DC, Dallas, Kansas City, Austin, and Corpus Christi.

In total Taylor is set to perform 37 shows in 22 states and provinces in the US and Canada, as well as seven concerts in Australia.

And yes, she’s only 19!

Plus, Taylor is slated to do the double duty of hosting and performing on “Saturday Night Live” on November 7. Only a few others have done that, including Janet Jackson, Sting, and Justin Timberlake.

You’d think a paper named The Sun would illuminate the truth more often.

The tab now claims Janet Jackson plans to wear black for a year to mourn the death of her brother, Michael Jackson. A “source” tells the paper that “as a mark of respect she has decided to only wear black clothes to express her grief, and she has had to go on a number of shopping trips to find suitable items to wear.” The custom will conclude on the anniversary of Michael’s death next June, when Janet’s “time of reflection will come to an end.” The Sun goes on to suggest that Jackson’s decision to perform in black earlier this month at MTV’s Video Music Awards was evidence of this “new wardrobe.”

Really? That’s strange. Because a little more than a week ago, Jackson was in white and beige at a Ralph Lauren event during Fashion Week in New York City. And just last night she wore a blue dress to amfAR’s Inaugural Milan Fashion Week event.

In fact, it’s difficult to find her in black at all recently when she’s not performing.

A source close to Janet told Gossip Cop that the Sun story was a big old yarn. Sure seems that way to us.

Swift Response:

Wow, the week started off with a bang, thanks to Kanye West and his ridiculously rude interruption of Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards. You’ll recall his outburst: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you . . . but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time,” leaving Swift speechless and the audience stunned. Well, Gossip Cop found out that he was then tossed, and security was notified not to let him return.

Gossip Cop was way ahead of the curve, reporting that Kanye was still going to perform on the first episode of “The Jay Leno Show,” along with Jay-Z and Rihanna, despite the controversy – and that he was also going to be a last-minute guest. We also had footage of Kanye escaping from New York to California for his Leno appearance. The next day Swift was a guest on “The View,” where she recapped what was going through her mind during the incident. “I think my overall thought process was something like, ‘Wow I can’t believe I won. This is awesome. Don’t trip and fall. I’m going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool—oh, Kanye West is here,” she said, adding, “Kanye West is here, cool haircut, what are you doing there? And then ouch, and then I guess I’m not going to get to thank the fans.” At the time of the morning gabfest, Swift said she hadn’t heard from Kayne, but right after the telecast, he made amends and “The View” released a statement saying, “[Kanye] spoke personally to the country music superstar via telephone and has apologized to the 19-year-old singer. She has accepted Mr. West’s apology.”

Later there was a report that Kanye was possibly suicidal, but that wasn’t true. What is true is that Kanye should steer clear of Pink. The outspoken singer, who tweeted after the VMAs that Kanye is the “biggest piece of [expletive] on earth,” didn’t let go. A couple of days later, while performing in Seattle, she told the audience that she carried a purse with brass knuckles and described the damage she’d have done to Kanye had he tried a similar stunt with her. To quote Swift, “ouch.”

“Sex” Encounters:

There were plenty of “Sex” tapes – and talk. Some of it wrong. A slew of outlets reported that Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big, was engaged. But Noth told Gossip Cop it was “not true.” He later texted us again to say OK! “made up a completely bogus” piece about him. “I have not said I am engaged. Until I do it’s all BS.” (While OK! corrected its error, not surprisingly Perez Hilton later published the original, inaccurate report.) Don’t be surprised, however, if Noth does get engaged in the not too distant future.

We also played Kim Cattrall’s “Sex” encounters on video. OK, it’s not that tawdry but we had great footage of Cattrall signing autographs and posing for pictures with loads of fans in New York, and footage of Sarah Jessica Parker and Cattrall – in a tongue-wagging costume – causing an eruption of excitement among fans and photographers.

Relationship Wrongs:

There were reports that Mischa Barton was dating an aspiring actor named Leo Wyndham for more than a month, but it’s not true that she’s sharing her “Beautiful Life” with him.

The British edition of OK! tried to insinuate that it was Sienna Miller time for Josh Hartnett after the two ran into each in a New York lounge. Somehow the two running into each other and kissing one another hello was turned into them “getting close,” “cosying,” and “canoodling.” The truth, though, is the two are just friends – and that’s it!

In what seems like a desperate attempt to cover their tracks after having incorrectly reported last week that Jessica Simpson was secretly hooking up with John Mayer, this week the tab is beginning to distancing itself from that story – and provide an out – with a pieced called, “John Betrays Jessica Already.” Regardless, both pieces are wrong, since Simpson’s rep told Gossip Cop that the two haven’t seen each other in some time.

Usually we don’t even waste our time with nonsense in the Globe, but there was a story so mean and inaccurate – “Travolta Divorce Shocker!” – that we had to deal with it. The story claimed, “John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s marriage has been so battered in the wake of their beloved son Jett’s tragic death, friends fear they’re headed for divorce!” Well, Travolta’s rep came out swinging, calling the hatchet piece, “100 percent false” and “a very hurtful lie.”

Toward the end of the week was a National Enquirer story titled “‘Braveheart’ & Cold Feet,” alleging that Mel Gibson is having second thoughts about marrying pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. We found it odd since we didn’t know there were any marriage plans, and his rep also said he had “never even heard of impending nuptials,” let alone his supposed second thoughts.

Berry Clear:

Halle Berry set the record straight this week when she appeared on “The Jay Leno Show.” After the talk show host asked, “How do you always look so good… you always look terrific,” she thanked him and replied that it “must mean all these pregnancies rumors can be, like, put to bed.” The Oscar winner went on to say she was getting a “complex” from all the pregnancy talk, adding that she had begun to think, “I gotta stop with all the burgers or something.” You would have thought that would have ended the pregnancies rumors, but no. Perez Hilton blogged the next day: “Not so fast, Miz Berry. We’re not convinced.” And where’s Fidel buried, Perez?

Daisy Dog:

Shortly after Jessica Simpson’s dog was snatched by a coyote, the star’s rep gave Gossip Cop some heart-wrenching details about how the family “saw it happen” and “tried to go after, but the coyote took [Daisy] and went.” Incredibly, the next day, there were a number of outlets that were not only unsympathetic but also insensitive – and inaccurate, especially when reporting that Simpson contacted dog-finding service FindToto.com to help locate Daisy. “Jessica Calls in Experts to Aid Dog Search,” said TMZ, and Perez Hilton picked up the story and mocked, “Simpleton Calls in Doggy Experts!” In reality, it was the company that called her and offered their services.

And then there was “Daisy-gate.” Janet Charlton’s Hollywood claimed that Daisy was taken six days earlier than reported, when in the care of Tina Simpson, while Jessica was still out of town working on her new reality show. But instead of people blaming her mom, Charlton said, “although Jessica is beyond heartbroken, she is covering up for her mother.” We’re waiting for next week’s angle about how aliens abducted Daisy.

Miscellaneous Mistakes:

Although Perez Hilton has learned how to cut-and-paste, he still doesn’t know how to read. In an article from the Telegraph that he lifted, it stated that Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe were going to be in the Guinness World Records book for being the “highest grossing lead actors of the decade.” But instead of realizing that Radcliffe’s films earned an average of $558 million and Watson’s movies averaged out to $753 million, “Scoop” Hilton reported that they – the actors – earned that amount of money. Nice try.

Then there was that odd Star story that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne “wear each other’s things all the time” because “Ozzy gets so confused about which clothes are whose, [so] he ends up just putting on the first thing he grabs,” including Sharon’s jackets. Simply, that story just didn’t fit right.

The Star’s sister publication National Enquirer didn’t fare too well either. In a piece about Ellen DeGeneres titled, “‘Idol’ Threat,” the supermarket tab mistakenly claimed “Ellen doesn’t want the seat in the middle,” but rather the talk show host “wants to be the last judge to offer an opinion so her words will be the final thing ‘Idol’ fans hear on contestants.” Simon Cowell is not giving up his perch nor, as the rag wrongly reported, is “she’s planning to make ‘Idol’ a “kinder, gentler show.”

OK! had a superbadly reported story that said Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz are feuding on the set of “The Green Hornet.” The mag claimed, “There have been occasions where he’s flown off the handle for no reason, leading her to storm off set.” His rep told Gossip Cop that there was “not one iota of truth” to the story.

And the U.K. version of OK! wasn’t that OK either with its story that reported, “Madonna will perform a duet with Janet Jackson as a tribute to Michael Jackson… after bonding over dinner after Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.” After hearing that rumor Cop stepped in. There’s no duet scheduled, and Madonna’s rep told Gossip Cop, “They did not meet at or after [the] VMAs.”

Then there was that vacant Lindsay Lohan rumor that she was kicked out of New York’s Bowery Hotel after a fight with Samantha Ronson. According to Hollyscoop, while in a fight with Ronson, Lohan allegedly “threw a room-service tray at what she thought was her girlfriend’s door.” Must have been a pretty long throw because, at the time of the supposed incident, Lohan was in Austin, TX, working on her movie “Machete,” and Ronson was in L.A. Oops.

Weekly Wins:

Among the “wins” for Gossip Cop this week was the exclusive that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were given a private tour of the White with their kids Emme and Max, and that while mom and dad spoke to the president inside the Oval Office, Max ran wild around the White House. Later that day the couple went to Capitol Hill, where they discussed education with the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.  And that evening they saw the president again at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual awards gala, where backstage before Barack Obama spoke, he led senators and members of congress in singing “Happy Birthday” to Anthony, who was honored at the event with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gossip Gop was spittin’ mad this week when a site posted “upskirt” shots of Taylor Momsen while on the set of “Gossip Girl.” Taylor is just 16-years-old, a minor, and those paparazzi, who focused their lenses to get an “upskirt” of a minor, should be ashamed of themselves. We can proudly report that after we singled out a particular site for its offensive photos – and sent an accompanying letter urging it to remove the photos because they are invasive and inappropriate – the blog took down the pictures.

‘Twilight’ Highlights:

The week began with a ludicrous story by the Aussie mag NW, which claimed that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart gave an unnamed U.S. magazine a joint interview about their “steamy relationship.” Among the topics covered: the “shock love triangle” that nearly tore them apart, their “intense sexual chemistry,” and the truth about their marriage plans.  None of it is true other than the fact that they have sat down for interviews to coincide with the release of “Eclipse.” Then we cleared up a little confusion about a showing of “New Moon” in Knoxville, TN on November 17 – three days before the highly anticipated movie opens nationwide. It’s a special, charity screening and just Stewart and Taylor Lautner are slated to attend – no Pattinson.

OK!, for the third week in a row, had a ridiculous “Twilight” tall tale. This week’s cover featured a photo of Pattinson and Stewart with the headline, “Wedding of the Year,” and promised inside to have the “the scoop on the big-screen ceremony, plus what to expect when Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson really tie the knot.” Besides the fact that they are not engaged in real-life, as OK! had previously claimed, the article went on and on describing what the “Twilight Saga” wedding looks like. But the wedding takes place in “Breaking Dawn,” not “Eclipse,” the installment they are currently shooting. So how is it possible that they have the “scoop on the big-screen ceremony?” Wrong again.

Fortunately all these false reports haven’t affected ticket sales. In fact, today is EXACTLY TWO MONTHS before the release of “New Moon,” and not only are online sales brisk, but the L.A. Times reported that the film “is selling out screenings earlier than any other movie to date.”

And then the tweet heard ’round the world. Tweeting on Peter Facinelli’s account, Robert Pattinson typed, “Hi, it’s Rob … My first and last tweet. My dad made me do it.” Shortly after that, Facinelli, through his rep, told Gossip Cop EXCLUSIVELY that Rob “relishes his privacy, but we’re hanging out and he wanted to say hi to the fans.”

On a final note, this week we lost Patrick Swayze, star of such films as “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost.” Swayze, who battled pancreatic cancer, was 57. Gossip Cop remembers Swayze as a guy who, while in the midst of opening his New York restaurant Mulholland Drive Café back in 1990, was gracious and kind to this one-time cub reporter – and throughout the years. He will be greatly missed.

The British OK! story, “Madonna to Duet With Janet,” attracted a lot of attention, and a slew of other media outlets picked up on it.

“Madonna will perform a duet with Janet Jackson as a tribute to Michael Jackson,” began the report, adding, “The two singers are working on a tribute to Janet’s late brother after bonding over dinner after Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.” The mag even had a source who said, “Madonna was so impressed with Janet’s tribute to Michael that they started talking about how great it would be to honour him by doing something together.”

How about we honor Michael Jackson’s memory by no longer publishing phony stories about him? Madonna’s rep told Gossip Cop point blank: “They did not meet at or after [the] VMAs.”

Side note: “Scoop” Hilton, who “reported” the story as well, added, “Maybe they should give Janet’s brother Jermaine Jackson a call. We hear he needs killer acts for Vienna.”

Cute . . . except this somehow “celebrity expert” seems to have missed the hundreds of thousands of stories about how the tribute concert has been moved to London. Including the one on his own site.

Will Janet Jackson be the first of the clan to dish about Michael Jackson?

According to In Touch, “Janet Jackson is penning an explosive tell-all about her life and her family, including her late brother, Michael.” The weekly has a source saying “She is going to talk about Michael’s death and how it’s affected her and his children and the rest of the family,” but added that a good deal of the book “will focus on her battle with self-esteem and weight.”

Jackson’s rep wouldn’t comment other than to say that In Touch “isn’t a reliable news source.”

Gossip Cop puts little weight into her explosively dishing about her brother and more into her past problems with the pounds.
