Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight Rises, has released a statement about the movie theater shooting spree in Colorado that left 12 people dead.

James Holmes, the man suspected of killing 12 people in a senseless shooting spree at a Colorado movie theater showing The Dark Knight Rises on Friday morning, is believed to have acted alone, and authorities are not prepared to comment on his motive.

In their first press conference on the matter, Colorado law enforcement officials said 71 people were shot in total, with some of the 59 injured individuals in critical condition.

There have been widely spread UNCONFIRMED reports that Holmes had painted his hair red and told police he was “The Joker,” referring to the iconic Batman villain.

A gunman wearing a gas mask and bullet proof vest opened fire at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado, killing at least a dozen people and injuring as many as 50 more in one of the worst shooting sprees in recent American history.
