This was a nice moment.

Lamar Odom, traded before the NBA season from the Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks, made his return to Los Angeles on Monday – and received a standing ovation.

Fans including Jack Nicholson stood and applauded Odom as he entered the game at Staples Center, where he formerly helped the home team win two league titles.

Khloe Kardashian and her husband have gotten a warm welcome in Dallas, but for many L.A. fans, Odom will always be a Laker.

Mark Wahlberg might visit Whitey Bulger in jail.

The Contraband star says the notorious Boston gangster, who was caught last year after 16 years on the run, recently reached out and asked him to meet.

Wahlberg told Boston’s WAAF radio on Friday, “He wants me to come down and visit him. Maybe he’ll give me the exclusive rights to tell his story, ’cause he knows, you know, we can do it better than anybody else.”

The Dorchester native said his “heart goes out” to the families of Bulger’s victims, but added, “If there’s a story to be told there, and, you know, we can do it in the way we want in the way that we best see fit… then it’s certainly something that we would explore.”

Many family members of the victims were upset that the actor is considering meeting with Bulger, who is accused of participating in 19 murders before fleeing in 1995.

Wahlberg starred in Martin Scorsese‘s The Departed, in which Jack Nicholson played a Bulger-like crime boss.

Charlie Sheen is returning to TV this summer.

His show, “Anger Management,” based on the Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson film of the same name, has been bought by FX.

So far, 10 episodes have been ordered of the comedy about a mellow guy who’s ordered to take anger management classes from a hothead therapist.

Sheen is set to star as the therapist, the role played by Nicholson in the movie version.

And here’s the best part — FX is also where Sheen’s last show “Two and a Half Men” is shown over and over in reruns.

At the time it was announced Sheen signed up for the show, the actor cracked, “I chose Anger Management because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept.”

FX beat out ABC, FOX, NBC, and cable networks Comedy Central, TV Land, and USA Network among other for the series.

Jack Nicholson‘s house in the Hollywood Hills was destroyed by a fire last night.

Nearly 90 firefighters responded to the emergency, and two of them were taken to the hospital with significant injuries after battling a blaze that burned down the two-story home on Woodrow Wilson Drive.

Nicholson does not currently live at the address – the Oscar winner had been renting out the property since 1975.

According to reports, actor William Tynan was staying at the home when it burst into flames on Friday.

The cause of the fire, which appears to be accidental, is under investigation.

Firefighters succeeded in making sure the ferocious blaze didn’t spread to the vulnerable brush surrounding the home.

Charlie Sheen is coming back to the big screen!

The former “Two and a Half Men” star will star in the indie film, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III, with Jason Schwartzman, a rep confirms to Gossip Cop.

Sheen will play a successful graphic designer and ladies’ man whose life spirals out of control when his goddess, er, girlfriend breaks up with him.

Sheen is also starring in “Anger Management,” a new sitcom based loosely on the 2003 Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson movie.

Perez Hilton and a number of other outlets rushed to post a rumor (originating on a Los Angeles Times blog) that claimed that Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson are primed to reunite for a movie called El Presidente.

The film supposedly involves Cruise as a Secret Service agent assigned to protect an ex-president played by Nicholson.

Cruise and Nicholson, of course, shared some famously tense courtroom moments in 1992′s military drama A Few Good Men.

But for now that movie will have to remain the last time the two titans co-starred.

A rep for Cruise says the El Presidente rumor is “not true.”

And a rep for Nicholson tells Gossip Cop that he’s not doing the film, either.

At least this gaffe isn’t quite as bad as the time Perez bizarrely reported that Nicholson had asked Jessica Simpson out on a date.

Would it be cliche to say Perez “can’t handle the truth”?

When Perez Hilton and Star magazine team up, it’s truly a thing of beauty.

The tabloid, which has published such ridiculous garbage about Jessica Simpson that she threatened to legally challenge them twice, now speculates that her new beau Eric Johnson is “using her” for money.

“Jessica is so starved for love, she just doesn’t see any of Eric’s faults,” claims a Star “insider.” His “faults,” apparently, are accompanying Simpson on a birthday vacation to Italy and sharing amenities.

Hilton can’t wait to pipe up, taking Star‘s story and insisting Simpson is “usually unlucky in love!” After regurgitating the tab’s story about Johnson and Simpson’s fancy trip, the blogger buys into the notion that the former football player is “just using her.”

“Smart guy, ha!” chortles Hilton. “But will Jess catch on??”

But will Jess catch on?

Um, Hilton recently reported that Jack Nicholson was pursuing Simpson. He’s also tied her (wrongly) to Taylor Kitsch. And to Gerard Butler.

So maybe it’s the blogger who should “catch on” and realize he has no idea what he’s talking about with Simpson.

Maybe Simpson had Johnson come with her to Italy… because she likes him. As a source close to Simpson tells Gossip Cop, she’s a “savvy woman and knows who to trust and who not to, and so far Eric’s been a good guy.”

As usual, Star and Hilton have plopped themselves far from logic in order to brew scandal.

What a team!

Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell and Val Kilmer were among the celebs in Taos, New Mexico today to pay their respects to their pal Dennis Hopper.

The stars, as well as several other friends, attended a moving mass for Hopper at the San Francisco de Asis church in Ranchos de Taos.

Hopper, who was in a plain wooden box, was slated to be buried later in a private ceremony.

The twice Academy Award-nominated star first visited New Mexico in 1969 to scout locations for his groundbreaking film, Easy Rider, and he continued to live there for more than a decade afterwards.

Hopper died of cancer on Saturday at the age of 74.

“According to sources, Jack Nicholson has asked Jessica Simpson on a date!!” reads the lead of another poorly reported post by Perez Hilton.

Hilton claims Nicholson recently invited Simpson to have dinner at his home, but she declined and wondered, “How Jack got my number as we’ve never met.”

The bad blogger then editorializes, “We all know he likes the young ladies, but come on, this is getting ridiculous!”

Actually the phrase, “come on, this is getting ridiculous” could just as easily apply to Hilton and his reporting of this story.

Gossip Cop checked out this tale, and a source close to Simpson assured us it’s “not true at all.” Nicholson never invited her to his house for dinner.

The source added that Simpson laughed over Hilton’s completely fabricated story, which she thought was “hysterical.”

Khloe Kardashian

According to an unnamed source, “Khloe has burned bridges with the Lakers’ wives and girlfriends.” 

The source adds, “She’s loud, rude and obnoxious to them. And Khloe thinks she’s entitled to perks that the other women don’t get.”

Like what?

The mag says Kardashian, who (if you didn’t hear) married Lakers forward Lamar Odom, “is demanding courtside seats not only for herself but also for her entire family.”

Her entire family? We’re not sure the Staples Center is big enough.

The reason Kardashian feels she should sit courtside near the likes of Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio, claims the tab’s source, is “Khloe has a huge sense of entitlement because she thinks she’s helping the team by attracting publicity.”

We’re going to call a foul on the Enquirer. This is inaccurate. Yes, it’s true she actually generates publicity, but a Staples Center source tells Gossip Cop that Kardashian did NOT ask for a seat reassignment.
