UPDATE #2 – 5/8/10

Box office figures are taking shape, and Iron Man 2 is now expected to top the weekend with roughly $130 million.

Friday estimates for the comic book blockbuster have been dialed down (slightly) to $52 million.

If the current projections hold, Iron Man 2 would have the fifth-biggest opening weekend in history.

When Miley Cyrus made “The Last Song,” it’s unlikely she considered the threat posed by Icelandic volcanic ash.

But last week’s travel-paralyzing eruption has now prevented Cyrus from attending the film’s UK premiere, and other major events could be the volcano’s next victims.

A fresh trailer for Iron Man 2 just came online.

The movie opens on May 7. Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow return, joined this time by Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Don Cheadle.
