Early projections are holding, and it looks like the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” reboot should scare up an easy #1 opening at the box office.

The slasher flick clawed to $15.8 million on Friday and $11.5 million on Saturday, on pace for $34 million in its first week of release.

After a tight battle that was too close to call until today, Sam Worthington and CGI monsters fended off Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

Clash of the Titans ($26.6 million) won the box office for the second straight weekend, edging new release Date Night ($25.2 million) after final numbers showed the comedy pulled in roughly $2 million less than reported on Sunday.

Most outlets reported late Sunday and early Monday that Date Night had won a narrow victory based on projections.
