As celebrities and fans alike grapple with the news of Whitney Houston’s death, many are wondering if and how Sunday’s Grammy Awards will pay tribute to the iconic star.

Houston, a six-time Grammy winner, “was one of the world’s greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades,” Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement on Saturday night.

He added, “Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs. A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice.”

Houston was expected to attend Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys soiree in Los Angeles just hours after she was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Davis, who was the first to discover Houston’s talents, had selected her to perform at the bash, which will reportedly still be held.

While event organizers for the Grammys have not yet officially announced any specific plans to honor the late singer, early speculation has named Jennifer Hudson as a possible late addition to the telecast.

Again, nothing is confirmed.

Adele is showing off her vocal prowess for the first time since undergoing throat surgery.

In a clip from Sunday’s “60 Minutes,” the singer wows Anderson Cooper with an a cappella rendition of her hit “Rolling in the Deep.”

Adele appears to have recovered remarkably from the November surgery that sidelined her for several months after doctors found polyps on her vocal chords.

But, as she tells Cooper, she’s not completely out of the woods yet.

Adele risks re-injuring herself if she sings too much.

“If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again,” she says.

The risk, however, won’t stop Adele from taking the stage Sunday for a much-anticipated performance at the Grammy Awards.

Katy Perry will perform at the Grammys, it was announced on Wednesday.

The singer is up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at this year’s honors.

News that she’ll perform comes one day after Adele was added to the show for her first performance since throat surgery.

Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney are among the other announced performers.

LL Cool J is hosting the February 12 broadcast.

Add two more major artists to the list of performers slated to rock next month’s Grammy Awards.

“My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards!” Rihanna revealed on Twitter on Wednesday night.

The singer, who is up for four awards, including Album of the Year, seemed quite excited by the planned duet, calling it “bonkers.”

Nicki Minaj, Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars are among the other stars slated to the take stage on February 12.

The show will be hosted by LL Cool J.

LL Cool J will host next month’s Grammy Awards, it was announced on Wednesday.

The two-time winner will be the music show’s first host in seven years.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Music’s Biggest Night,” the musician-turned-actor says in a statement.

He adds, “I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.”

LL Cool J, who currently stars on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” has hosted the “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!” special each year since it launched in 2008.

The Grammys, featuring performances by Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and the Foo Fighters, among others, will air CBS on February 12.

Serene Branson, the CBS reporter whose live coverage of the Grammy Awards last Sunday was marked by garbled speech, suffered a “complex migraine,” according to her doctor.

There had been speculation that Branson endured a stroke on the air, but Dr. Neil Martin says the correspondent’s verbal difficulties were actually the result of a complex migraine.

Symptoms of the condition can look like those typically associated with a stroke, including weakness, loss of vision and speech trouble.

It is caused when blood vessels in the brain spasm, and is usually only temporary.

Branson gave Dr. Martin permission to discuss her status publicly.

Perez Hilton, who disingenuously now claims to be a kinder, gentler blogger, once again showed his true colors in a post about CBS reporter Serene Branson.

In a live shot following last night’s Grammys, Branson experienced severe speech difficulties, first uttering a few words and then becoming unintelligible. (VIDEO below)

Branson obviously had some type of episode that caused her to sound incoherent.

But one person’s illness apparently is Perez’s fun.

The blogger can’t wait to mock the “MUST WATCH!!!” “Grammy Reporter Fail!”

“Someone call an exorcist!” jokes Hilton, who calls Branson’s coverage “HIGHlarious.”

It is unclear right now what caused Branson’s speech to be slurred – Gossip Cop is awaiting a comment from her station  - but it is clear that whatever caused it is certainly not “HIGHlarious.”

UPDATE: CBS has released a statement saying that Branson is feeling fine today. So far, an explanation has not been given.

Britney Spears has NOT been confirmed to perform live at the Grammy Awards.

A rumor started earlier today by Perez Hilton claimed Spears would sing and dance during the telecast on Sunday, February 13.

But according to a source close to the pop superstar, “It’s not true.” Spears, says our insider, will not perform at the Grammys.

While elements of the show could always change, there are currently no plans for Spears to take the stage at the ceremony.

Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me” debuted to enormous attention yesterday. Her studio album is set to come out in March.

Her last live TV performance was on “Good Morning America” in 2008.

As you may or may not know, while posing with her four Grammy Awards after the telecast two nights ago, Taylor Swift dropped one of her trophies, which broke into pieces.

Oops.

But no need to worry for the young singing sensation. Swift doesn’t need to repair or replace it.

The Grammys she posed with weren’t her own. They were stand-in statuettes that winners are given to take pictures with. The real ones, engraved with her name on them, won’t arrive in Nashville for a few weeks.

Gossip Cop is told the guy who stacked them in her arms for pictures didn’t balance them too well.

And while Swift was momentarily concerned about busting a Grammy, we hear the photographers there told her not to feel bad since the same thing also happened to Mary J. Blige.

Not only were Taylor Swift and “Glee” star Cory Monteith hanging out together at Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy party on January 30 — and sharing dinner a few nights earlier at Jerry’s Deli in L.A. — but a source in the know confirms to Gossip Cop that the two young stars “have been on a few dates.” 

Gossip Cop would like to warn, however, that it’s a tad early to start buying gifts from a registry. 

Shortly after Swift’s Grammy wins, including “Album of the Year,” she flew off to Australia, where she’ll be performing Thursday night at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Grammy Awards, which air this Sunday on CBS, will feature a fundraising segment for Haiti relief, and so far what’s slated is a special duet with Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli on the hit Simon and Garfunkel song, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” 

After the show, the duet  will be available on iTunes and all proceeds from the sales will go to the American Red Cross to help those devastated by the earthquake.

Also slated to perform at the Grammys this year are Lady Gaga, the Dave Matthews Band, Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas, and Taylor Swift, who are all nominated for Album of the Year.

Already a Grammy and Emmy winner, Justin Timberlake can now add the title of “Man of the Year” from a Harvard institution.

Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals – the country’s oldest undergraduate drama group – has just chosen Timberlake to receive its “Man of the Year” trophy on February 5 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the group will roast him.

The Hasty Pudding said today they picked Timberlake for the award because he’s “one of pop culture’s most influential entertainers.”

And that’s true, but Gossip Cop can assure you that for every mention of his Grammy-winning hits, there will be almost as many acknowledgements for Emmy Award-winning work on “Dick in a Box.”

Earlier this month, Anne Hathaway was tapped as Hasty Pudding’s “Woman of the Year.”
