“Angelina Jolie‘s Visit to Tunisia Sparks Mini Riot,” reads a headline from X17Online.

According to the site, there were so many displaced Libyans “closing in on” Jolie during her visit to a refugee camp in neighboring Tunisia, “The UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador was forced to cancel half of her visit for security reasons.”

X17Online further claims, “The military was overwhelmed by the crowd and, seemingly, unprepared to protect Jolie sufficiently.”

Adds a source for the blog: “Angelina was forced to find shelter in a tent and she had to be protected by 30 military personal with machine guns.”

That’s news… to the UNHCR.

Gossip Cop spent a lot of time today reaching out to various arms of the United Nations to verify X17Online’s “exclusive” account. And while it’s true some people got pushy with each other while gawking at Jolie, the actress did NOT “cancel half of her visit” for security reasons.

A UNHCR spokesman told us he was “unaware” of Jolie’s visit having to be cut short.

It would be nice if sites allowed Jolie to continue doing her humanitarian work in dangerous parts of the world without creating more drama.

In an unannounced visit, Angelina Jolie quietly returned yesterday to Haiti, where she met with President René Préval.

Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, also met with other government and U.N. officials to discuss the situation of Haiti’s children, many of whom were orphaned and left homeless after the nation’s devastating earthquake on January 12.

The Oscar winning actress has been to Haiti on numerous occasions, including a visit in February when she met with children affected by the earthquake.

Gossip Cop  will update when more details emerge about Jolie’s most recent hush hush visit.

After cheering on the New Orleans Saints at the Super Bowl in Miami, Angelina Jolie traveled to the Dominican Republic, where she spent time yesterday with hospitalized victims of the Haiti earthquake. 

Later today, Jolie, a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, will head to Haiti to meet with those who affected by the earthquake.

In addition to her work in the field, Jolie and Brad Pitt have already donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders to help with the relief effort in Haiti.

Gossip Cop will update when more details emerge about her charitable work with those on the devastated island nation.

You CAN judge a magazine by its cover.

Take this week’s Star, which features Brad Pitt and a teary-eyed Angelina Jolie above a headline that screams, “The Fight To End All Fights!”

The tabloid alleges that the “their biggest fight ever” took place on November 15 in their Los Angeles home, where they reportedly battled over Thanksgiving Day plans.

Wow, the Star got photos of Pitt and Jolie after a major argument that culminated in tears?

No.

The picture (above right) of Pitt looking pensive was taken while the actor was promoting “Inglourious Basterds” two months before — on September 18 — at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.

But the Star did capture Jolie crying after the fight, right?

No.

The photo of a sobbing Jolie was taken on June 20, 2003 — SIX YEARS AGO — when the Oscar-winning actress, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, was moved to tears during a World Refugee Day ceremony in Washington, DC.

The only sad thing here is how the Star has tried to dupe its readers.

What’s interesting to note is that, at the same time Star was sending this cover off to be published, Pitt and Jolie were photographed holding hands as they left the Beverly Hills restaurant La Dolce Vita.
