Last summer, when Miley Cyrus revealed a new tattoo – an equal sign on her finger that represents her belief that “All LOVE Is Equal” – she faced a fierce backlash from the anti-gay community.

Now, in a first-person piece she penned for Glamour, the singer explains why she chose to get the ink, her reaction to the controversy it caused and why she’s pro gay-marriage.

She writes, “When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘All LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me—they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’”

“The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” she continues.

Cyrus goes on to write that she believes “every American should be allowed the same rights and civil liberties.”

“Without legalized same-sex marriage, most of the time you cannot share the same health benefits, you are not considered next of kin and you are not granted the same securities as a heterosexual couple,” she explains. “How is this different than having someone sit in the back of the bus because of their skin color?”

The singer notes that her dad Billy Ray Cyrus “is a real man’s man, lives on the farm and is as Southern and straight as they come. He loves my gay friends and even supports same-sex marriage. If my father can do it, anyone can.”

“This is America, the nation of dreams. We’re so proud of that. And yet certain people are excluded. It’s just not right,” she concludes.

Jamie Lynn Spears, whose teen stardom disappeared when she became pregnant at 16 and moved to Mississippi, is speaking out in Glamour.

In a first-person account of her past few years, Britney’s little sister talks about baby daddy Casey Aldridge, “Teen Mom,” tabloid attention, dating, and her daughter Maddie.

Spears begins, “It was 2007. I had been on a Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101, and after we wrapped shooting, I just wanted to go home to Louisiana and finish high school, be a cheerleader, all that. Then I found out I was pregnant.”

“I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name,” she explains. “And I made a decision that is forever my decision.”

While Spears says she “[believes] in safety and birth control as prevention,” she admits that she was “really scared to go to the doctor.”

When she revealed her pregnancy, Spears experienced some tension with her fans.

“I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn’t trying to glamorize teen pregnancy,” insists Spears. “I hated when [the tabloids] said that.”

Spears talks about why she decided to move to a small town.

“I just wanted to get away from [scrutiny] as much as I could, to just go away and be a mom and figure out what I wanted, and to earn a sense of respect back for myself,” she explains. “Move to a town in the middle of nowhere and just raise my child.”

Despite separating from Aldridge in 2009, Spears, who now lives with Maddie in Nashville, says, “We really wanted to do it right. We loved each other. I will love him as Maddie’s father until the day I die.”

Her daughter visits Aldridge every month.

While her big sister’s music videos dominated MTV for years, Spears says it was another part of the network’s programming that really interested her.

“When I saw MTV’s Teen Mom was coming out, I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, I cannot wait to see this show because there’s someone else out there.’ I mean, I feel for those girls. I’ve been that girl.”

Spears says that she’s not been focusing much on romance.

“I’ve been on dates here and there, going to dinner or a movie, but nothing further than that,” she reveals.

Spears explains, “I’m a mother first. I have a little girl, and until I’m serious about someone, he’s not going to be around her.”

Now, shortly before her 21st birthday, Spears is approaching a career in entertainment again, writing and performing songs in Nashville.

“The last time anyone heard anything of me, I was 16 and pregnant,” she says. “All I can do is be my best – there will always be people who will never like me.”

She adds, “These days, the only thing I’m afraid of is not being a good mom. As long as Maddie is healthy and she loves me, the rest doesn’t matter.”

She may be playing a porn star in the upcoming Lovelace, but Amanda Seyfried tells Glamour she has no plans to go totally naked on film.

“I’m pretty sure I would never do a full frontal in a movie — for personal reasons, I wouldn’t really want to show that,” explains the 41st most desirable woman in the world.

She also says that despite the laundry list of Hollywood bachelors to whom she’s been linked, she’s not going through a “twenties slut” phase.

“I’m terrified of being promiscuous,” says Seyfried. “I don’t like the feeling you get when it’s not something that you truly want to do, and I hate the emotional abuse you give yourself afterward.”

The actress adds, “I think dating can come without sex.”

And she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

“I think that’s a really fun way to do it. Right now I’m happy to not have someone’s naked body around me,” reveals Seyfried. “Except for my dog’s.”

Kim Kardashian says she’s given up on her idea of the fairy tale ending after her failed 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries.

In the January issue of Glamour, the reality star reflects on love following her split from Humphries. She tells the mag, “I believe in love and the dream of having a perfect relationship, but my idea of it has changed.”

“I think I need to not live in a fairy tale like that. I think I maybe need to just snap out of it and be a little more realistic,” says Kardashian, explaining, “The fact [is] that what I want isn’t possible.”

Kardashian, who has openly talked about wanting children, also notes in the cover story that she’s been rethinking that as well.

She says, “At this moment in my life, I feel like maybe I’m not supposed to have kids and all that,” conceding, “Maybe I’ll just be a good aunt.”

Nevertheless, Kardashian tries to remain positive about the future, telling the mag, “Maybe my fairy tale has a different ending than I dreamed it would. But that’s OK.”

Reese Witherspoon dishes about her love life, family and acting career in the January issue of Glamour, which hits newstands December 7.

“I think as a woman, you get older, you feel more confident in your sexuality,” Witherspoon tells the mag. “I feel better – so much better now than I ever did in my twenties. I am calmer; I know who I am. And as a result, I feel much sexier.”

But looking good isn’t what she’s really concerned about in her career. “There’s always going to be somebody younger or sexier,” says the Oscar winner, who adds, “That’s why I like to say, and it’s become my famous line, ‘Funny doesn’t sag.’ When somebody comes up to me and says, ‘You look hot in that movie,’ I always respond, ‘But was I funny?’”

As for her relationship with agent Jim Toth, she says, “What I’m finding out is that it’s very comfortable to be with somebody who understands my career, but doesn’t do what I do. He’s a great guy. He’s wonderful.”

Alluding to her divorce with Ryan Phillipe - and future with Toth – Witherspoon observes, ”I feel very lucky to have the chance to try again, you know?”

And part of her future, divulges Witherspoon, is that she “would love to have more kids… Kids are the best part of my day. I don’t wake up to make movies. I wake up to hang out with my family.”

Many outlets are circulating a rumor that Robert Pattinson has signed on for his next movie.

According to reports on sites like Glamour UK, the Twilight star and Emma Watson “are to get steamy in a lusty new art-house flick” called Dark Arc, the remake of a 2004 release.

Casey Affleck is supposedly in discussions to complete the film’s “love triangle” connecting an artist, a graphic designer and their muse.

However, the growing speculation online is not correct.

Pattinson is not involved.

A representative for Pattinson tells Gossip Cop the report is “untrue.”

We’re waiting to hear back on Watson.

Yesterday Us Weekly reported that Katy Perry and Russell Brand were engaged.

Sources told the magazine Brand proposed a few days ago while the couple vacationed in India, and that Perry “happily accepted.”

When Gossip Cop initially reached out to Perry’s music manager, Steven Jensen, he told us he “can’t confirm” whether the engagement rumor was accurate.

Now reps for both Brand and Perry confirm the couple is indeed engaged!

Brand popped the question on New Year’s Eve in a tent at the foot of a mountain in India.

In the February issue of Glamour – on newsstands now – covergirl Perry even said, “When I find a partner who is my teammate…I’m not going to play by any rules, I’m just going to go with my heart. Why wait?” 

And they didn’t.

Brand and Perry have been dating since September. They are currently in Thailand.

Now Gossip Cop has been told that Rihanna is also one of the Women of the Year.

Rihanna, who will talk about the assault she suffered at the hands of Chris Brown when she appears this week on “Good Morning America,” did her “Women of the Year” photo shoot on September 18 at Milk Studios in New York. Gossip Cop has obtained a few photos taken during the Glamour shoot, where afterwards the singer sat down for an interview. An insider tells us Rihanna discussed how she became stronger after Brown’s violent attack and “how anyone can do anything they put their mind to.”
