“It’s Over” between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, declares Famous magazine in big, bold letters under the words, “Rob confirms to the US media.”

Really?

Pattinson NEVER confirmed that to the media.

NEVER ever.

Nevertheless, Famous, which is often famous for its imaginative, though not necessarily accurate cover stories, claims, “Robert confirmed the news late last week to stunned cast and crew members on the set of his latest flick Water for Elephants - in which he plays a vet who joins the circus – declaring, ‘I’m single.’”

The mag alleges, “A movie rep then confirmed to Fox News, ‘Rob is not dating anyone’” and emphasized, “He just tells everyone he is single.”

Famous, which likes to use the words “confirms” or “confirmed,” yet doesn’t actually confirm anything, goes on to say, “Friends of the star confirmed that Kirsten – who flew into Australia this week to promote the third instalment (sic) of the Twilight franchise, Eclipse – is devastated.”

Uh, she hardly looks devastated from the pics we’ve seen from Down Under.

We can go on and on with all the other nonsense Famous prints in this piece, including a “spy” telling the mag, “[Kirsten] really does love Robert. She won’t let him go without a fight,” but let’s consider what this entire story is based on – a WRONG report from the Fox411 blog.

Did those phrases “Rob is not dating anyone” and “He just tells everyone he is single” sound familiar?

They should.

In the false Fox411 report last week about Pattinson making the moves on Reese Withspoon, which Gossip Cop busted, a so-called Fox411 “insider” said, “Rob is not dating anyone… and he tells everyone he is single.”

Huh?

So Fox411’s “insider” suddenly became a “Fox rep” when reprinted in Famous?

Bottom line: the Famous article based its fake premise on an equally fake Fox411 blog story.

None of these things were ever said, and the story is not true.

Famous is just becoming famous for its famously inaccurate cover stories.

When Gossip Cop busted Fox411‘s nonsense about possible romance between Water for Elephants co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, we assumed it’d still be picked up and repeated by a few careless sites.

We also thought there wasn’t much an outlet could do that would be worse than the original, unsubstantiated speculation.

We forgot about HollywoodLife.

The dented trash receptacle posing as a legitimate gossip site got wind of Fox411′s claim and managed to crank out one of its most inane posts to date.

Not satisfied to regurgitate the Rob-Reese non-story, HollywoodLife uses it to taunt Kristen Stewart, writing with all the bile of a catty junior high schooler lacking rudimentary logic skills.

“OMG! Robert Pattinson is TOTALLY Flirting with Reese Witherspoon!” shrieks the site. “K-Stew, Did You Hear This?”

Let’s pause here to note that HollywoodLife’s habit of addressing celebrities in the second person has gotten no less annoying.

“Has our favorite brooding vampire found a new soul mate?” the site speculates before dragging out yesterday’s drivel about “magic” chemistry between Pattinson and Witherspoon.

“Whoa! We bet Kristen Stewart is NOT happy about this news!”

Actually, we bet Stewart is fine with their behavior, because, unlike HollywoodLife, she understands that the pretty, costumed people in front of the cameras are characters.

They’re not real.

It’s all make believe.

“The last time this happened,” continues HollywoodLife, “Rumors swirled about R-Patz’s offscreen romance with co-star Emilie De Ravin during the filming of Remember Me.”

Yes. Rumors that were completely false.

It was just another example of Pattinson daring to appear in a role that required interaction with a member of the opposite sex and not dating her in real life.

According to HollywoodLife, Stewart “has to be so jealous of Reese!”

It sure sounds like the site wants Stewart to be jealous, but there’s still no basis for it.

Here’s how blinded the site is by its need to bend facts to fit its absurd flights of fancy. HollywoodLife acknowledges that Witherspoon is dating Jim Toth, and that he’s “already going to her kids’ soccer games.”

The rational response would be: Wow, things must be going really well between Witherspoon and Toth!

The HollywoodLife response is: “He can’t be too pleased with this news [about Pattinson], either!”

There is no news.

There is no romance between Witherspoon and Pattinson.

There is just HollywoodLife, shouting at the wind.

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon are working together on Water for Elephants.

They previously worked together on the film, Vanity Fair.

But Pattinson and Witherspoon are not getting together romantically, as the Fox411 blog would like its readers to believe.

According to a post today, “The chemistry between the two so far is ‘magic.’”

Uh, they’re actors.

Nevertheless, the site has a so-called “insider” who warns, “Reese’s agent boyfriend Jim Toth had better watch out or he could lose his girl to the gentle charms of the man who plays the world’s most famous vampire!”

“Rob is not dating anyone,” adds Fox411′s alleged source.

Really? No one?

The post then ends, “Could ‘Elephants’ help turn Pattinson, 24, and Witherspoon, 34, into Hollywood’s latest June-September romance? Stranger things have happened.”

Actually, what’s stranger is the nonsensical implication that Pattinson and Witherspoon are heading for a hook-up just because they share the screen.

Back in reality, Witherspoon is happily involved with Toth, and by all accounts, the relationship is moving in the right direction.

And Pattinson also seems quite happy to be around Kristen Stewart.

“Lindsanity Might NOT Be Starring In Porn Star Biopic!” reads another inaccurate report from Perez Hilton. 

According to the bad blogger, “Lindsay Lohan may not be starring in the Linda Lovelace biopic as previously reported because she is unsure about what the role will do for her troubled acting career.”

Lifting his story from the equally mistaken Fox411 blog, Perez says a “source” reveals, “She is not officially locked into the movie yet. She does have some reservations about doing the film.”

Actually, Lohan is locked into the film, as we first reported a month ago.

Additionally, she is NOT having any reservations about starring in the film.

On the contrary, Dina Lohan told Gossip Cop that Lindsay is “excited” about Inferno, and talk about her not wanting to star in the film is a “total lie.” 

When it comes to Inferno, Hilton’s reporting goes up in flames.

Without alcohol, will “Jersey Shore” be a bore?

Fox News’ Fox411 blog observes that the cast of MTV’s hit “likes to drink, party and then drink and party some more.”

But at a recent appearance at the Boston club The Estate, Jenni “JWoww” Farley was noticeably sans alcohol and overheard telling partygoers, “MTV doesn’t want [the cast] to drink.”

Fox411 claims, “The folks at MTV are trying to ban the booze, at least until filming” the next season.

No way!

But that’s not all.

According to Fox411’s “insider,” the cast is now limited to only one appearance per week or they may “face strict fines and possible legal action.”

A source involved with the production tells Gossip Cop that while “the production team did ask them to limit appearances so they could focus on the new season,” neither the production crew nor MTV told the cast they couldn’t drink.

“Can You Believe John Krasinski Beat Out Kellan Lutz For The Role Of Captain America?” asks HollywoodLife.

The site further steps in it when it goes on to question, “What the heck, Hollywood? How could you pick John Krasinski over Kellan Lutz?!”

But HollywoodLife wasn’t the only accuracy-challenged site to wrongly cast Krasinski as the American flag-wearing Captain.

Hollyscoop blares in its headline, “John Krasinski to Play Captain America,” followed by the opening line of “John Krasinski is about to become a huge movie star!”

Added to this list of bad blogs, of course, is Perez Hilton, which reports, “John Krasinski is rumored to be Marvel’s top choice for the lead role in The First Avenger: Captain America to be released in the summer of 2011!”

All these inaccurate stories were based on an “exclusive” from Fox411, which stated, “‘Captain America’ role is John Krasinski’s to lose, source says.”

So, what do all these sites have is common?

(1) They’re all WRONG.

(2) None of them bothered to fact-check the story.

Actually, it’s took Gossip Cop longer to write this post than it did to verify whether or not it was true that Krasinski was tapped for “Captain America.”

According to Krasinski’s rep, stories of “The Office” star playing the superhero are “not true at all.”

What are the chances an outlet that once fabricated a Lindsay Lohan reality show and just last week steamed Kelly Osbourne for misrepresenting her comments would get a story involving Britney Spears and Paris Hilton wrong?

(Answer: very high.)

“Britney Spears’ Boyfriend ‘Hates’ Her Music” blares a FoxNews.com headline for an item about, of all things, Hilton’s 29th birthday party.

It seems Spears beau Jason Trawick was in attendance, although the pop princess wasn’t. According to an “insider,” Trawick arrived at the Hilton fete with a male friend and was “definitely enjoying himself” until the DJ played Spears’ hit “Toxic.”

“When the song came on the first thing out of Jason’s mouth was ‘OMG I hate this song!’” the site’s source claims, adding that Trawick complained about not being about to hear conversation over the song.

“After slamming his girl’s music,” Fox411 continues, “Trawick continued to party.”

Forgive Gossip Cop for having a hard time taking any of this too seriously.

It certainly sounds like Trawick was “dissing” “Toxic” in good fun… if he dissed it at all. A source close to Spears and Trawick called the insinuation that he “hates” her music “not true.”

As with the Osbourne headline last week, it’s Fox411 that’s off-key with its pronouncements.

Here’s a case of rotten journalism twisting a good message into something ugly.

In an interview with Us Weekly, newly svelte Kelly Osbourne talked about her battles with weight gain. “I took more hell for being fat than I did for being an absolute raging drug addict,” the Dancing with the Stars alum said. “I will never understand that.”

Again, Osbourne said that other people gave her more hell for being overweight than for substance addiction.

And she pointed out just how irrational and wrong that seemed to her.

But outlets like FoxNews.com completely misrepresent Osbourne’s message.

“Kelly Osbourne: Being Fat in Hollywood Worse Than Being on Drugs,” screams the site’s headline. The item goes on to report, “It’s better to be a drug addict than a fattie in Hollywood, says Kelly Osbourne.”

No. Not even close.

That is an entirely backwards reading of Osbourne’s comments.

A rep for Osbourne confirmed that sites were twisting what she (very clearly) said in the Us interview.

Osbourne herself tweeted outrage at Fox, saying “they should be ashamed of themselves” for the manipulation of her comments. Another site that she called out, Heatworld.com, appears to have adjusted the item to reflect what Osbourne actually said.

Gossip Cop hopes Fox and others will do the same.

“Reformed Hollywood hell-raiser Mickey Rourke is making plans to wed Russian beauty Elena Kuletskaya in Russia this spring,” begins a piece in the New York Post, which was picked up EVERYWHERE.

The article goes on to say that Rourke “has told friends he’s planning a Moscow wedding in April.”

And, according to a source, “The Wrestler” star and Kuletskaya “haven’t booked a venue or made any solid plans. He just knows he wants to do it in April, and he’s been asking what is involved in a traditional Russian wedding ceremony.”

Nyet!

No need for us to start booking flights on Aerflot. “Reports of an engagement are untrue,” Rourke’s rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively.

Oh, one more thing. Despite all the talk about Kuletskaya, “Mickey’s girlfriend is Ana Makarenko,” his rep added.

Oops.

Here we go again.

Despite “widespread reports of their split” (yes, Fox411 – YOUR widespread reports, which Gossip Cop debunked), Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel “continue to be photographed together,” according to the site.

Sigh.

Fox411 painted themselves into a corner by insisting that the two had broken up and now having to deal with Timberlake and Biel being photographed as a couple and seeming happy.

Well today the blog figured out how to reconcile their premise with reality. According to the site, Timberlake and Biel are now “friends with benefits.”

An “insider” tells Fox411 that Biel was upset when Timberlake supposedly dumped her, “But once she calmed down and they started talking again, he convinced her to stay friends who hook up, without all the pressure of a relationship.”

Really? That’s how it went down, “insider”?

The site’s so-called “source” explains, “At first [Biel] was very reluctant, but she missed him a lot and so she decided to give it a try even though it wasn’t exactly how she wanted things to be.”

Actually, Gossip Cop suspects the facts weren’t exactly how Fox411 “wanted things to be.” So instead of admitting Timberlake and Biel are still seen together because, well, they’re still dating, the blog decides they must be “friends with benefits.”

Because, really, why go with the simple, straightforward, accurate story when it’s so annoyingly out of sync with rumors?

We know better than to trust Fox411 when it comes to “Twilight” reporting (let’s just say they haven’t exactly had the strongest week), but this one really had us scratching our heads.

Buried halfway down the millionth recycled version of a speculative Internet “are they or aren’t they?” story about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart come comments from “an inside source,” who tells the blog an off-screen Robsten romance “caused major friction with fellow Twilighter Nikki Reed, who started dating Pattinson late last year.” The article goes on to…

Wait, wait. Back up. What was that?

That’s right… just before tossing aside “tabloid talk” detailing the over-the-top life Pattinson and Stewart supposedly shared in their hotel suites high above Vancouver (talk, by the way, that Gossip Cop already debunked weeks ago), Fox411 claims that a Robsten relationship cut short one between Pattinson and Reed (“Rokki”?), who “were together” after the first film finished shooting. The site’s “insider” says “sparks” between Pattinson and Stewart led them to end their respective couplings, “So Nikki was the one to get hurt.”

Oh, boy. This is so, so old, and so, so wrong. This summer, Jennie Garth supposedly “outed” a Rob relationship with either Reed or Stewart… except Gossip Cop actually obtained a transcript of her interview and she didn’t.

And Reed herself has never acknowledged a relationship.

Ah, but Fox411 devises a convenient cover – “Nikki was really in love with Rob,” says their source, “but we’re all scared to bring it up now. It’s something we just don’t talk about.”

OK, then! So again we have a relationship that can’t be confirmed because everyone who “knows” about it is too scared.

Can Fox411 come up with a third crazy Pattinson rumor before the week ends? Stay tuned!

Fox411 gets a zero for this one.

According to the blog, “Despite his staggering success as the certified break out star of the ‘Twilight’ film franchise, actor Robert Pattinson is still threatened by his co-stars.”

Really?!

The site claims, “sources tell Fox411 exclusively that Pattinson is not a fan of sharing the spotlight and that he even refused to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ along with his ‘New Moon’ costars Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz.”

Either Fox411 made up this info or they have a really bad source, because they have someone say, “Rob is threatened by Kellan and Taylor,” and “When SNL approached him to host he was excited – until he found out he would be hosting with Kellan and Taylor… He doesn’t want to share the stage with them on ‘SNL’ because he doesn’t think they are serious actors like him and doesn’t believe they are on the same level.”



Well, not feeling others are on the same level unfortunately is how we feel right now dealing with this Fox411 item.

But we’ll stoop.

First, this entire story is nonsense. That said, back in September Gossip Cop – who has real sources – found out that Pattinson was offered an SNL hosting gig (by himself), but there were scheduling conflicts.

Today, Gossip Cop spoke to an understandably bewildered rep at SNL, who assured us that the proposed triple booking scenario is absolutely 100 percent “not true.”

It was recently reported by Fox411 that Lindsay Lohan was so desperate, she was doing her Ungaro fashion work for free. Well, it was complete bunk, and Gossip Cop rightly ripped it apart.

Well, now a second complete fiction from that article is being picked up everywhere. This time, the assertion is that Lohan’s record label dropped her. “Lohan recently learned that Casablanca Records has decided to terminate its professional relationship with her,” Fox411 learned from “friends” of the star. Other outlets echoed the notion that she was just dumped.

She was not.

Lohan’s rep tells Gossip Cop the story is “not true.” And a rep for Universal Music, the parent company of Casablanca, also tells Gossip Cop she’s still on the Casablanca label, with distribution through Universal.

Sounds to us like another instance of gossip sites hitting the same wrong note.

The Fox411 column writes, “Lindsay Lohan might want to think about getting a part time job that actually pays,” claiming she is “so desperate she is working for free,” and “has not been paid for her work” for the fashion house Emanuel Ungaro.

Actually, Fox411 might want to think about fact-checking.

A so-called source told Fox411, “Ungaro is not paying her at all to be a consultant for them… Her team is working to get Lindsay some form of payment from the fashion house, but right now they will only give her free clothes.”

Not only is the working for free stuff a cheap shot, but it is also completely wrong.

We looked into this story, and a source close to the actress told Gossip Cop that it’s quite the opposite. Says our insider, Lohan is “paid a lot” for her Ungaro gig.

Either Justin Timberlake has a problem with his friends or a gossip site has a problem admitting it was wrong.

Fox411.com has an “exclusive” from a “source close to JT’s posse” claiming the superstar’s friends think he made a big mistake when he supposedly “split” with Jessica Biel. Timberlake allegedly replaced his relationship with Biel for a “rebound romance” with Rihanna. Of course, Gossip Cop shot down those rumors ten days ago.

Back in the site’s alternate reality where he and Biel are no longer together, Timberlake’s pals have been “less than supportive” of his return to bachelorhood. According to the “source,” they have “basically shunned him” and “think if they don’t give in he may come to his senses and get back together with Jessica.” Instead of “being there for him,” the site reports, “Justin’s friends have pulled a disappearing act.”

The only things “disappearing” here are the facts.

Justin Timberlake’s friends are not giving him the cold shoulder over his break-up with Jessica Biel because … they HAVE NOT broken up. A source close to Biel confirms once again to Gossip Cop talk of a parting is “not true.” As Gossip Cop has reported before, and as our source confirms today, the couple “never split up.”

It’s funny, but the online column FOX411 actually doesn’t always have the 411. Case in point is a recent post about alleged problems between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy.

 According to FOX411, “Jamie Kennedy and Jennifer Love Hewitt looked like a happy couple at Tao Nightclub’s 4th anniversary party on Oct. 3, but a source close to Jamie tells FOX411 that their relationship is still in trouble from Kennedy’s rumored infidelity with his ex-girlfriend, Shannon Funk.”

So they looked happy, but we’re not supposed to believe that? Huh?

Incredibly, FOX411’s so-called source says, “he told her he had zero desire to go to the Tao event with [her], but Jen insisted they go together to put rumors to rest.” Actually, from what Gossip Cop hears, it was Kennedy who had more of an interest in going than Hewitt did, but was happy she joined him.

The FOX411 source goes on to say that “Jen knows things have really changed with them, but the public appearance is all part of her damage control plan.” Really? So then why is it that Kennedy’s rep was the one who told Gossip Cop, “There’s no truth to the report.” And there isn’t.

Sorry, but FOX411 had bad information.

In a piece titled, “Britney Spears Still Pining for Ex Adnan Ghalib,” FoxNews.com claims that according to a solid source “Spears is still madly in love” with Ghalib, against whom, you will recall, the singer’s dad Jamie Spears successfully got a restraining order.

Despite being barred from coming close to Spears, FoxNews.com’s source says their separation “is really breaking Britney’s heart . . . She is still totally in love with Adnan and she can’t even speak too him, it’s making her really depressed.”

[Head scratch]

Is this the same Britney Spears who just about two weeks ago the blogs were saying was engaged to Jason Trawick? (Gossip Cop busted that rumor, too).

And isn’t this the same Adnan Ghalib who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery after he  allegedly attempted to run over a process server trying to serve him a restraining order?

Anyway, a Spears insider tells Gossip Cop that it is absolutely not true that Spears is in love with Ghalib.

The tale of Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson not getting along on the set of “Iron Man 2” keeps flaring up like a bad case of acne – even though the movie has already finished filming.

In the latest outbreak today, Fox411 claims Paltrow “did nothing to make friends with fellow superhero Scarlett Johansson,” and the film’s crew “actually preferred to be around her husband, Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin.”

According to Fox411’s insider, Paltrow “wasn’t outright rude to Scarlett, she just didn’t ever speak to her. Gwyneth went out of her way to avoid Scarlett, and they had zero contact, at Gwyneth’s choosing.” Additionally, that same source said, “Much of the crew didn’t mind hanging out with her husband, Chris, but if Gwyneth ever came around, they scattered! Chris is so chill and relaxed and she is just the opposite.”

And while Hollywood lore was built on female feuds – think, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford – a Gossip Cop source jokes that the “rumor came out even before they had their first day of working together,” and noted that “Chris Martin was rarely on set so that part of the story doesn’t make sense.”

On the contrary, Gossip Cop’s mole says, “They only had a few days of working together but Gwyneth really enjoyed Scarlett.”

We’re sure these rumors will reappear when the film is just about to be released.

Johansson was there to promote her role as Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” and Reynolds, the site said, was slated to be part of a Warner Bros. panel, having recently been tapped for the lead in “Green Lantern.” A Fox411 source claimed that Reynolds’ reported last-minute cancellation “angered the [Warner] executives.” Perez Hilton and numerous others repeated this tale.

Well, here’s the real scoop about the “Scoop” star and her husband. First, there is “no strife,” says a source close to the couple, adding, “all is good.” And, by several accounts, Warner Bros. hadn’t even planned to include “Green Lantern” on their panel at Comic-Con. One insider told Gossip Cop, “He was never even scheduled to go.” His rep also echoed the same sentiment, and pointed out, “Ryan is currently filming in Europe.”
