It must be liberating to be able to bend reality to fit the story you want to tell.

Gossip Cop doesn’t have that luxury, but Famous magazine sure does!

In its continuing quest to offer up some of the tabloid world’s lamest Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson “news,” the publication tries to convince readers that the couple’s widely publicized recent dates in Los Angeles served as an “awkward reunion.”

“Over the past few months they’ve not been together and had a taste for what life outside their inner circle is like,” explains a so-called “source” for Famous. “And they loved it.”

What bothers us more than instances when tabloids “should know better” are times when they clearly do know better — and willfully ignore their better judgment.

Famous magazine’s treatment of what it calls “a real-life Twilight urban legend” could serve as a model example of sensationalism toppling sense.

Careful reporting about ‘The Twilight Saga’ and its stars just isn’t near the top of the list.

The cast and crew on ‘Breaking Dawn’ have been “left reeling,” declares the tabloid.

There is “confusion & anger” as “filming on ‘Breaking Dawn’ is cancelled,” according to the mag’s cover.

Tabloids slip into alternate realities with the distracted ease most of us show when putting on socks.

Last week, Famous magazine claimed Robert Pattinson had dropped a “bombshell” on the Water For Elephants set and confirmed to the media he and Kristen Stewart had split.

He’d done nothing of the sort.

Famous fabricated the entire premise.

So what did the tab claim this week?

It either means there’s rain coming, or Famous magazine put a certain Twilight twosome on its cover.

“For weeks Kristen Stewart has known there’s something wrong in her relationship with Robert Pattinson,” writes the tab.

Stewart “doesn’t know exactly what it is” but “says she can feel Rob drifting away.”

“Why Won’t Rob Commit?” shrieks Famous magazine.

Yes, it seems Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have frustrated the magazines again with their devious refusal to engage in actual scandal.

“Friends of Kristen” reveal that she has been “left questioning her 23-year-old boyfriend over his reluctance to commit to their relationship by living together,” reports the mag.
