Us Weekly is reporting that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz‘s marriage to Pete Wentz is in trouble because her ”splurging habits are out of control.” 

According to the mag’s unnamed source, “Things are getting strained” between the parents of Bronx, because the “Chicago” star supposedly “keeps spending all his money.” In fact, the tab claims Simpson-Wentz recently “spent over $20,000 on his credit cards and acted like it was nothing. He’s over it!”

A few questions: Where was the shopping spree? When? What did she buy? 

Us doesn’t have any of those answers, just allegations.

When pressed, a rep for both of them unequivocally told Gossip Cop that Us‘ “piece is a fabrication,” adding that the so-called “strained” couple “just celebrated their son’s first birthday together.”

“Are they on the brink of divorce????” leads an item by the often incorrect Perez Hilton about Ashlee Simpson and her husband, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.

According to Hilton, on Saturday night Simpson picked a fight with Wentz at the one-year anniversary of the bar he owns in his native Chicago, Angels & Kings.

First, we’ll deal with the “divorce” speculation. Let’s look at the facts. Perez says Simpson  and Wentz are on the “brink” of Splitsville, but Gossip Cop sees that just yesterday Simpson tweeted to her husband, “I had so much fun with ur parents last night. Thanx for dedicating the dj set to me. Love you more magic. I miss u already.” And Wentz tweeted her, “’You’re just like an angel. Your skin makes me cry. You float like a feather In a beautiful world’ fly safe!” Yeah, sounds like they’re soooo done.

Now, let’s analyze the alleged “fight.” Hilton says his multiple sources claim that at the Angels & Kings party, Simpson “came up [to Wentz] completely wasted and yells at him to leave. They fought, she told him he was horrible in front of a whole group of people and made him leave his own party early.”

Of course Hilton, with his “multiple sources,” has been wrong on multiple occasions in the past.  In addition to Wentz’s lovely dovey tweet, which he wouldn’t have sent if he were angry at his wife, we also have Simpson’s side – straight from her own fingers. In a couple of tweets, Simpson addressed the blogger personally. In one she said, “my husband is an amazing dj and was dedicating songs to me… Our love is amazing.” And in another missive, she pointblank blasts, that all Hilton does is “make up untrue stories… Your story is WAY off.”

Sorry, but Gossip Cop believes Simpson and Wentz more than the guy who is just a couple weeks away from celebrating the second anniversary of his worldwide scoop that Fidel Castro is dead.
