We’ll give OK! magazine credit for one thing: The tabloid knows how to milk a rumor.

“It was the canoodle felt round the world,” opens the tabloid’s cover story. “On Dec. 3 Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson left L.A.’s La Poubelle restaurant with actress Sarah Roemer, then squeezed into the backseat of a waiting car and stroked her hand – this with Rob’s on-and-off-screen love, Kristen Stewart, 5,000 miles away in England.”

Ah, yes, the infamous “canoodle”… that never happened.

Is OK! really using this debunked, non-event for the basis of a splashy story all about Pattinson begging a “confused and angry” Stewart not to leave him?

Oh, good grief.

“Rob’s one of the world’s biggest heartthrobs, and Kristen’s never been able to relax the whole time she’s been with him,” a so-called “insider” tells the tabloid. “This was, like, her worst fear realized.”

We’d love to hear more from the tabloid’s “insider.”

“Rob’s in total panic mode at the thought of losing Kristen,” adds the OK! source, explaining that he’s “virtually groveling on bent knee.”

To prove his love, Pattinson is supposedly designing a diamond ring for Stewart for Christmas.

Alas, according to OK!, “the Sarah flap is only the latest bump of a rocky period in Robstenland.”

Do tell!

Well, the fact that Stewart and Pattinson “have often been continents apart” means they’ve allegedly faced constant “temptation.”

For Pattinson, that’s included getting “uncomfortably close” with onetime co-star Emilie de Ravin, while Stewart’s supposedly lavished attention on colleagues like Garrett Hedlund and Taylor Lautner.

In fact, a Stewart “friend” suggests that “Rob may have played up the Sarah incident just to keep her jealous.”

Wait a minute.

So in OK!‘s twisted logic, Pattinson is both playing up AND playing down the alleged Roemer “canoodle”? He’s supposedly trying to make Stewart jealous AND at ease?

What’s more likely is that OK! magazine still has absolutely no clue what goes on between Stewart and Pattinson.

If it’s not Roemer and de Ravin and Hedlund and Lautner causing problems for the couple, it’s supposedly Sarah Gadon or maybe Chris Hemsworth.

Really, whoever’s closest at the moment.

Sources close to the couple tell us Stewart and Pattinson are as happy as ever, and laugh off OK!‘s latest attempt to be relevant.

It’s been one of the more popular themes in tabloid journalism over the last couple of years: If Robert Pattinson is anywhere near another woman in a professional context, it’s (allegedly) reason for Kristen Stewart to worry.

If an adult female works in Hollywood and her career intersects (or is even rumored to intersect) with Pattinson’s… it’s instant (100% bogus) scandal!

At various points in the past it’s been Keira Knightley, and don’t forget the supposed “threat” once posed by Reese Witherspoon!

There were rumors about Uma Thurman and also Emilie de Ravin.

Romantic challenges could come from unexpected people like Caitlin Cronenberg, or even Pattinson’s agent.

Basically, as long as Pattinson makes movies, tabloids will make scandals.

The newest one involves Breaking Dawn co-star Ashley Greene, who’s been promoting the film with Pattinson – and allegedly “getting close” to him, too.

Star magazine’s so-called “insider” says that with Stewart off filming her own movie, “Ashley is making moves on Rob.”

“They have been on romantic dates, just the two of them. Ashley is forward – she made it known that she wants something more than a friendship,” claims this Star source.

The same insider for the mag relates, “Kristen has warned Rob to keep his distance from Ashley and is furious with him for not obeying.”

Uh-huh.

Unfortunately, Pattinson is unable to “keep his distance” from Greene because they are working.

They are pushing Breaking Dawn in foreign markets together.

That is what actors do.

They are not sharing romantic meals, they are not getting too “close,” and Stewart is not panicking about any kind of hookup.

Sources close to all parties tell Gossip Cop the Greene-Pattinson rumors are more of the same nonsense that’s dogged both stars as their fame has grown.

The tabloid declares, “With friends like Ashley Greene, Kristen Stewart doesn’t need enemies.”

And with Star printing stories like these, the world doesn’t need The Onion.

This week, Life & Style spun the story wheel and landed on “Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Headed For a Split,” so the writers were forced to come up with a slew of bogus arguments to back it.

The results aren’t pretty.

According to the magazine, Pattinson and Stewart are “rarely seen in public together and never affectionate,” and their diverging careers and “increasingly incompatible personalities” mean they’re “on their last legs as a couple.”

But that’s not all!

There’s also the matter of Keira Knightley, who may possibly star with Pattinson in Cosmopolis. That prospect is “terrifying” for Stewart, because she was wooed by Pattinson when they made Twilight together, and “history seems destined – or doomed – to repeat itself with Keira.”

“The idea of [Pattinson and Knightley] getting intimate, even if it’s scripted, drives Kristen wild,” a so-called “pal” explains to Life & Style.

For good measure, the magazine reminds everyone of Pattinson’s alleged past flings with co-stars Nikki Reed (not true) and Emilie de Ravin (not true).

How desperate is Life & Style to prove that Knightley poses a threat to Robsten?

The tabloid refers to reports in Famous magazine that Pattinson and Knightley “have been spending time together bonding.”

That’s interesting. Because just a month ago, that same tab claimed Pattinson and Stewart were engaged!

Even Life & Style isn’t convinced that a split is inevitable because of the supposed Keira Knightley “hurdle,” so the mag keeps wandering, looking for evidence of trouble for Pattinson and Stewart.

“They’re very young and going their separate ways in terms of careers,” argues the magazine’s source. “While Kristen may be on the cover of Vogue, she’s still very much an indie star or supporting-role actress. Meanwhile, Rob is moving at lightning speed.”

Seriously?

Stewart, who’s been offered the role of Snow White and finds herself rumored for other enormous starring roles is too much of a “supporting actress” for Pattinson?

But Life & Style isn’t done.

The tabloid returns to the old narrative about Stewart being a party pooper sourpuss, who “refuse(s) to smile on the red carpet and complains about being unable to go to the mall anymore,” leading Pattinson to question whether the couple is really “compatible.”

Yes, it’s Pattinson’s painful separation from malls that is making him reconsider Stewart.

Monitoring Life & Style‘s attempts to break up Stewart and Pattinson is like watching someone dance the “hokey pokey.”

They put gossip in, they pull logic out, they do a few spins – but the story flops all about.

Thousands of articles have theorized about the relationship between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but rarely has one been as asinine as PopEater‘s latest effort.

“Perpetually in bad moods,” Pattinson and Stewart give “grumpy” sound bites and “glower at the cameras,” sneers the site… next to a photo of the pair smiling.

But PopEater isn’t satisfied to prove its point merely with the observational and photo editing skills of a wet sock.

How about some condescension?

Compared to Pattinson and Stewart, “Julius and Ethel Rosenberg look like Snooki and The Situation making out in a hot-tub,” chortles PopEater, scoffing, “If you’re too young to know who Julius and Ethel Rosenberg are, then R-Pattz and K-Stew are probably your romantic role models.”

Ah, yes, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. A couple executed in 1953 for atomic espionage. And, apparently, the gold standard for being “grumpy.”

If we didn’t know better, we’d say PopEater invokes the Rosenbergs (and Snooki!) while patronizing its readers because it has no actual case to make.

Oh, but it tries.

The main thrust of the article exploring their “deliciously suspicious romance” is that Pattinson and Stewart have faked it “to sell movie tickets.”

Here’s a summary of PopEater’s “argument”:

*** Stewart denied a relationship with Pattinson in a Nylon magazine interview while filming New Moon, saying that she and he were “good friends.”

OK. She gave that comment a year and a half ago. Why is this relevant?

*** Stewart and Pattinson were photographed “by a small-town blogger” on vacation on the Isle of Wight.

Yes. Um. What’s the point? They went on vacation because… they aren’t really dating?

*** Stewart and Pattinson “may or may not” have revealed (off camera) their relationship to Oprah Winfrey.

They didn’t. And if they had, so what?

*** Stewart attended the premiere of Pattinson’s Remember Me.

Yes, she did. Girlfriends regularly attend premieres. Platonic friends regularly attend premieres. Past and future co-stars regularly attend premieres. What does her presence have to do with a conspiracy to sell out theaters for, say, Eclipse? Especially when PopEater makes a point of saying she and Pattinson didn’t have much contact that night?

(Which itself is inaccurate. Gossip Cop was there the whole night. Pattinson and Stewart spent the entire after-party in a VIP area with a select group of friends and family.)

And… that’s pretty much all the article offers in the way of “specifics.”

PopEater then writes, “Perhaps the media wouldn’t be so suspicious of the real relationship between Rob and Kristen if there wasn’t such a massive financial incentive for them to lead us along.”

They don’t own Twilight. Their salaries have already been negotiated. That’s the beginning and end of their “financial incentive.”

“If Rob and Kristen really are just following the studio’s orders to generate heat for their films,” blusters PopEater, “At least it would explain why they’re so sour all the time.”

Wait.

So Summit’s grand plan is to force Pattinson and Stewart into faking a relationship that makes them “sour” with the press? Of course. Because everyone knows “sour” people with a “miserable attitude” are a huge draw at the box office. It’s why Andy Rooney’s been the decade’s biggest motion picture star.

There’s also this: It’s an awfully big commitment to pretend you’re dating for a few years (and five films) to the exclusion of dating other people.

But the biggest problem is that PopEater’s main argument doesn’t even makes sense.

If Stewart and Pattinson are forced into a publicity stunt relationship, wouldn’t it stand to reason that Summit would want it to gain… publicity?

The two stars shun the paparazzi. They avoid being photographed holding hands, kissing, etc. If, for instance, Summit planted Stewart at Pattinson’s Remember Me premiere to make it seem like they’re in a relationship… why would Pattinson walk the red carpet with co-star Emilie de Ravin? If they “forced” them to vacation together, why would it be on an island with zero paparazzi?

If they conspired with their studio to perpetuate a “fake relationship,” wouldn’t they be photographed just once holding hands and kissing on the red carpet or “accidentally” spotted around L.A. having romantic dinners together?

If this were a “fake relationship,” we’d see more photos of them together, not less.

The only thing “fake” here is PopEater’s premise.

The only thing more exhausting than the tabloids’ atrocious coverage of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart is their habit of throwing together so much garbage, it takes multiple reads just to untangle it.

Life & Style has a “world exclusive” today: Pattinson “dumped” Stewart.

The tabloid, of course, is embarrassingly out of step when it comes to the two Twilight-ers.

In the past the mag claimed there was a massive conspiracy to keep possible a romance between them “under wraps” until fall 2010, when Breaking Dawn begins production… and then it negated its own theory by insisting Stewart’s attendance at Pattinson’s Remember Me premiere was a grand “public” declaration of a relationship.

The whiplash didn’t end there. Life & Style revised its interpretation of the premiere, insisting that Stewart was there instead to “send a message” to Pattinson’s co-star, Emilie de Ravin.

But its cover story today is a true work of art.

“Finally Rob’s Fed Up With Miserable Kristen,” screams the cover that alleges she’s been “dumped!”

The first bit of “evidence” is that Pattinson “let slip” on “The Today Show” his thwarted desire to go on a regular date given intense paparazzi scrutiny. Then the mag quotes an “insider” who claims Pattinson called it quits with Stewart in England, declaring them “done.”

In the very next paragraph, a different “insider” says, “Rob and Kristen are together mostly — but it’s not exclusive.”

So are they “done” or “together mostly”? Because those two things are kind of opposites.

“The real-life romance [of Pattinson and Stewart] has been staked through the heart,” begins the Life & Style piece. But according to the tab’s own “insider,” who revealed the supposed British breakup, “When he meets up with her they start flirting again and get caught up in all the romance.”

So was the romance “staked through the heart,” or are Pattinson and Stewart “caught up in all the romance”? Because those two things are kind of opposites.

Pattinson is looking but feels he “hasn’t found his soul mate,” explains Life & Style. But the tab’s own second “insider” says, “I guarantee you this guy looks at other girls, calls them, texts them and hooks up.”

So is Pattinson searching for a soul mate or hooking up with random women? Because those two things are kind of opposites.

The weirdness of Life & Style‘s article continues: Stewart is supposedly “having second thoughts” about breaking up with one-time boyfriend Michael Angarano, who the magazine’s conspiracy theorists believe is “hoping for a run-in with his ex,” because he supposedly crashed Katy Perry‘s MTV Movie Awards afterparty.

Stewart wasn’t there, but “tellingly,” according to a so-called eyewitness, Angarano stayed for only half an hour, “appeared out of place and didn’t seem to be enjoying the party.”

Take a moment to consider how desperate Life & Style is.

Because Michael Angarano reportedly stayed for only a bit at a Katy Perry party that Kristen Stewart didn’t even attend, Life & Style claims it shows that he has a weird wish to torment Stewart… which supposedly reveals that Stewart is hung up on Angarano… which contributed to Pattinson’s decision to “dump” Stewart… even though once you read past its sensational headlines, Life & Style doesn’t even have the courage to conclude that Stewart has been dumped.

Confused?

So is Life & Style.

Once upon a time, the tab’s articles contradicted each other from one week to the next.

Now the articles contradict themselves within two pages.

When Gossip Cop busted Fox411‘s nonsense about possible romance between Water for Elephants co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, we assumed it’d still be picked up and repeated by a few careless sites.

We also thought there wasn’t much an outlet could do that would be worse than the original, unsubstantiated speculation.

We forgot about HollywoodLife.

The dented trash receptacle posing as a legitimate gossip site got wind of Fox411′s claim and managed to crank out one of its most inane posts to date.

Not satisfied to regurgitate the Rob-Reese non-story, HollywoodLife uses it to taunt Kristen Stewart, writing with all the bile of a catty junior high schooler lacking rudimentary logic skills.

“OMG! Robert Pattinson is TOTALLY Flirting with Reese Witherspoon!” shrieks the site. “K-Stew, Did You Hear This?”

Let’s pause here to note that HollywoodLife’s habit of addressing celebrities in the second person has gotten no less annoying.

“Has our favorite brooding vampire found a new soul mate?” the site speculates before dragging out yesterday’s drivel about “magic” chemistry between Pattinson and Witherspoon.

“Whoa! We bet Kristen Stewart is NOT happy about this news!”

Actually, we bet Stewart is fine with their behavior, because, unlike HollywoodLife, she understands that the pretty, costumed people in front of the cameras are characters.

They’re not real.

It’s all make believe.

“The last time this happened,” continues HollywoodLife, “Rumors swirled about R-Patz’s offscreen romance with co-star Emilie De Ravin during the filming of Remember Me.”

Yes. Rumors that were completely false.

It was just another example of Pattinson daring to appear in a role that required interaction with a member of the opposite sex and not dating her in real life.

According to HollywoodLife, Stewart “has to be so jealous of Reese!”

It sure sounds like the site wants Stewart to be jealous, but there’s still no basis for it.

Here’s how blinded the site is by its need to bend facts to fit its absurd flights of fancy. HollywoodLife acknowledges that Witherspoon is dating Jim Toth, and that he’s “already going to her kids’ soccer games.”

The rational response would be: Wow, things must be going really well between Witherspoon and Toth!

The HollywoodLife response is: “He can’t be too pleased with this news [about Pattinson], either!”

There is no news.

There is no romance between Witherspoon and Pattinson.

There is just HollywoodLife, shouting at the wind.

Remember yesterday, when Life & Style published a whacked out article claiming Kristen Stewart attended the Remember Me premiere to intimidate Emilie de Ravin?

Showbiz Spy sure remembers! Because today the site (sloppily) rewrites the conspiracy theory, adding a new twist: Stewart and Robert Pattinson are “arguing endlessly” over her “possessive nature.”

Reportedly anxious about how close Pattinson and de Ravin have become, Stewart “tries to accompany the British star on as many of his promotional trips as possible.”

Gossip Cop will note again: Kristen Stewart has two settings, according to most outlets. When she’s not at events, other sites say, it’s because she’s a misanthropic homebody. When she does go to events, blogs claim it’s because she’s a jealous obsessive.

(Sigh.)

Anyway, Showbiz Spy has a “loose-lipped insider” who claims “Kristen hates the thought of Rob and Kristen spending time alone together.”

(The site has “loose-lipped” insiders… but obviously no copy editors.)

Stewart’s constant presence is “driving Rob nuts,” the “insider” reports. “He likes doing his own thing and having time to himself, but Kristen has gotten really needy over the past few weeks.”

Gossip Cop will humbly suggest that Showbiz Spy (which offered a photo bounty on the two) is the “needy” party here.

Our source with Stewart tells us (again) that the (endless) speculation about her supposed jealousy is (still) complete bunk.

As Gossip Cop said yesterday, Stewart was at the premiere to support Pattinson.

They had a nice time at the movie and at the party afterwards.

That’s it.

Sometimes the simplest explanations are the right ones. And that’s the case here.

There used to be controversy when Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart weren’t in the same place at the same time. Now they can’t sit next to each other without outlets concocting ulterior motives.

Life & Style describes the scene of Pattinson and Stewart sitting next to each other at the Remember Me premiere in New York and being very affectionate.

In an article titled “Hands off my man!” the tabloid reports everything was tender until Stewart “suddenly pulled away” when on screen Pattinson and co-star Emilie de Ravin acted intimate.

“Though watching Rob in any sex scene would be uncomfortable” for Stewart according to the mag, “Kristen had particular reason to be upset about this one.”

And what reason is that?

According to Life & Style, Pattinson and de Ravin “had a fling last June” while filming Remember Me, a liaison that “clearly wounded Kristen.”

So Stewart’s presence at the movie’s premiere was no mere show of support, theorizes the tab. “By turning up… the ordinarily publicity-shy Kristen could keep an eye on Rob while sending Emilie a message: He’s mine — back off!”

Life & Style goes on to claim the on-screen “intense chemistry” between Pattinson and de Ravin was “all anyone could talk about at the premiere.”

Gossip Cop happened to be there… and the only “intensity” on everyone’s mind was that of the film itself, especially its ending.

Here’s the takeaway from last week’s premiere: Stewart supported Pattinson, the two looked happy, end of story.

The movie was “intense” enough. No need to create fake off-screen drama.

Robert Pattinson will appear on CBS’ “The Early Show” on Tuesday, March 9 in a segment he taped after the show’s regular broadcast three days ago.

A production source tells Gossip Cop Pattinson arrived at the studio at 9:30 AM Tuesday morning, a half-hour after the show finished. At 9:50 AM he sat down with co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez for about fifteen minutes to chat and promote his new film with Emilie de Ravin, Remember Me.

We hear he also joked with Rodriguez about the tabloid whirlwind he now faces, including one crazy claim in a tab that he was pregnant.

(Gossip Cop looked into it. Robert Pattinson is NOT pregnant. We repeat: Robert Pattinson is NOT pregnant.)

Another production source on the scene reports Pattinson was “charming” and “nice to everyone,” from the staff to the interviewer herself, who we’re told “loves him.”

We’ll update as more details emerge.

Gossip Cop was fortunate enough to attend the premiere of “Remember Me,” and was truly impressed with Robert Pattinson.

Without giving away the plot points, “Remember Me” is a very emotional film, and Pattinson leads the charge with an incredibly powerful performance.

But Gossip Cop wasn’t the only who felt Pattinson was gripping onscreen. Quite randomly, as we were hanging out talking to a friend from L.A., one of the film’s actors approached a blonde woman standing next to us and began to sing Pattinson’s praises.

That co-star was Kate Burton, who plays the executive assistant to Pattinson’s high-powered father (Pierce Brosnan). And the blonde  woman who Burton approached was the star’s real-life mom, Clare Pattinson.

So what did the actress say to Pattinson’s mom?

Burton told Clare Pattinson that she was legendary screen actor Richard Burton‘s daughter – whoa! – and that Pattinson is a special actor, and she should be “very proud.”

Among the others in attendance at the post-premiere party were co-stars Brosnan, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, and yes, Kristen Stewart, who hung out in the same VIP area as Pattinson.

Pierce Brosnan, who stars with Robert Pattinson in the upcoming Remember Me, has only praise for his young co-star.

He tells Parade.com, ”Remember Me with Robert Pattinson is a really beautifully written piece about a family coping with the death of one of their boys. I play Robert’s father, and for me it’s about the loss of a son, while from his perspective it’s about the loss of a brother.”

“It’s nothing like Twilight but it packs an emotional punch. I think you’ll see Mr. Pattinson giving a fantastic performance, which will prove he’s really working hard on his acting.”

Brosnan also touches on the pandemonium surrounding Pattinson. He says, ”We filmed in New York and there always seemed to be a hundreds of screaming teenage girls around and I knew they weren’t screaming for me. I know it’s tough for Robert to cope with that kind of attention.”

“I’ve been there and I sympathize with him, but I think he’s handling it quite well. I think that, so far, he’s got it under control.”

As Gossip Cop broke earlier in the week, Pattinson will promote Remember Me on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on March 1, and then again on “The View” with his co-star Emilie de Ravin.

Following his appearance, Pattinson will then head to the premiere of Remember Me, his film with Emilie de Ravin.

The first press appearances for “Remember Me” are being set, and Gossip Cop can confirm that Robert Pattinson will appear on “The View” on March 2. Emilie de Ravin will also join the gang that morning.

It will be the first time on the show for both stars.

There has been a lot of Internet speculation about the premiere of “Remember Me,” starring Robert Pattinson, Emilie  de Ravin, and Pierce Brosnan.

The film, which revolves around two people who fall in love as they cope with tragedy, was shot last summer in New York.

And that’s precisely where the premiere will be, Gossip Cop can confirm.

Gossip Cop is told that the stars will walk the red carpet in New York on March 1.

“Remember Me” opens nationwide on March 12.

Generally, premieres are closer to the film’s release date, but because Pattinson is working on “Bel Ami” in Europe and can’t go back and forth, “Remember Me” will have it’s big red carpet at the same time he’s doing its press junket in the Big Apple.

Gossip Cop can confirm that Robert Pattinson and his “Remember Me” co-star Emilie de Ravin shot a spread for Vogue yesterday in Los Angeles.

Pattinson and de Ravin posed for a number of photos in different exhibition spaces throughout the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

Much of the shoot took place in cordoned off areas before LACMA opened to the public at noon.

The photos are slated to run in Vogue’s March “Power Issue,” which hits newsstands just about three weeks before the release of “Remember Me.”

Emilie de Ravin’s rep confirmed to Gossip Cop that details of yesterday’s museum shoot were “accurate.”

There have been so many Robert Pattinson stories recently, it seems like we always know exactly where the “Twilight” star is – which is what makes a piece in today’s New York Post so confusing. The paper places Pattinson in a low-key Long Island City bar this past Thursday . . . the same night every other outlet reported that Pattinson and Kristen Stewart saw a Bobby Long show together across the country in Los Angeles.

According to the Post’s item, the star was spotted with the rest of the cast from his upcoming film, “Remember Me,” partying in the back of Queens pub Dominie’s Hoek, “far from the throngs of screaming fans.” Well, any New York fans who wanted to get close to Pattinson that night would have had trouble. Dozens of sources report that the actor was enjoying music with Stewart at The Hotel Cafe . . . in Hollywood.

Additionally, when asked whether Pattinson’s “Remember Me” co-star Emilie de Ravin was at the supposed Thursday cast party, her spokesman said that she too was back in Los Angeles and didn’t “know anything about a party.”
