Cedars-Sinai Elton John AIDS Foundation Serena Williams Vanity Fair Oscars party

Just hours after Serena Williams was all smiles at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party, the tennis star was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A. to treat a pulmonary embolism.

Yesterday, Williams “underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation,” her rep said in a statement, adding, “Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A.”

After canceling concerts, due to the flu and a battle with an E. coli bacterial infection, Elton John will definitely be at his Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser tomorrow in New York, where President Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone are slated to be honored.
