Mark Ruffalo will play The Incredible Hulk in ‘The Avengers,’ according to a report.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s a done deal, says Deadline.com.

As Bruce Banner/Hulk, Ruffalo would be taking over for Edward Norton, who played the character in a 2008 film. Eric Bana had the role in 2003.

On the heels of Edward Norton being let go from playing the Hulk in the upcoming superhero ensemble film, The Avengers, there was news that Joaquin Phoenix was going to take over the role.

Producers are on the hunt for some new muscle.

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Edward Norton will not reprise his role as Bruce Banner (better known as The Incredible Hulk) for “The Avengers,” due to hit theaters in summer 2012.
