Daniel Radcliffe is “slightly miffed” that Harry Potter was shut out of the Academy Awards race.

“I don’t think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids’ films, unless they’re directed by Martin Scorsese,” he told Radio Times, adding, “I was watching Hugo the other day and going, ‘Why is this nominated and we’re not?’”

He explains, “There’s a certain amount of snobbery.”

Radcliffe does stress, however, that it’s not as though the Harry Potter didn’t pay off in every way besides an Academy Award.

“How much of a pat on the back do we really need? We get paid stupid amounts of money,” emphasizes the star.

Still, the Oscars snub is “kind of disheartening,” admits Radcliffe.

While the Harry Potter series earned multiple nominations in technical categories over the past 10 years, it never picked up nods in the major categories – acting, writing or directing.

This year’s final installment (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2) was not among the Best Picture nominees.

The weekend box office battle between unexpected superheroes and the man behind the world’s most famous wizard ended in an upset.

Chronicle, a video diary-style movie following three high schoolers who are suddenly imbued with superpowers, edged out The Woman in Black, starring Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe.

Estimates put Chronicle at $22 million, while The Woman in Black took in $21 million.

The Grey (Liam Neeson and wolves) earned $9.5 million to beat Big Miracle (Drew Barrymore and whales) and its $8.1 million for third place.

Underworld: Awakening ($5.5 million) finished at #5.

The chart gets extremely packed after that.

Five films – One for the Money, Red Tails, Man on a Ledge, The Descendants and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close – are projected to earn $4.5 million or so.

Daniel Radcliffe, who admitted last summer that he’s spent years secretly struggling with an alcohol addiction, has now revealed there were times he filmed the Harry Potter franchise while drunk.

“I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes,” he says in an interview in the new issue of Heat.

Radcliffe clarified that while he never drank on set, he did go “into work still drunk.”

The actor, who’s been busy promoting his new movie The Woman In Black, further told ShortList that drinking turned him into a “rude bore” who often drank until he blacked out.

“For a long time people were saying to me, ‘We think you have a problem,’ but in the end I had to come to the realization myself,” Radcliffe explains.

The movie star has been sober since August 2010.

He also reveals that he contemplated quitting Harry Potter after filming the series’ third movie.

“It was only for a second, but I thought, ‘If I do the fourth, I’ll have to do them all,’ and that seemed quite daunting,” he tells ShortList.

He adds, “If I was going to leave, that would have been the perfect time because it would have given whoever came in to play Harry enough films to establish himself properly. It wouldn’t have totally dumped him in the sh-t.”

So what stopped him from following through?

Radcliffe explains, “But then I started thinking, ‘What other good parts are there for 15-year-olds? None.’”

Daniel Radcliffe and Ellen DeGeneres are getting ready to go head to head in a friendly competition – the Super Bowl.

The stars have made a $5,000 wager on Sunday’s game, with Radcliffe betting on the New York Giants and DeGeneres rooting for the New England Patriots.

Radcliffe, born and raised in Britain, revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Thursday that he became a Giants fan after temporarily relocating to New York so he could star on Broadway in Equus.

Regardless of which team wins, both celebs agreed to donate their winnings to the Trevor Project.

Daniel Radcliffe, boy wizard and Broadway sensation, has reportedly signed on for a new movie role.

He will play famed poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, according to THR.

The thriller concerns a 1944 murder that brings together beat icons Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.

It’s also set to feature Elizabeth Olsen.

Gossip Cop is reaching out for confirmation on Radcliffe’s casting.

Radcliffe will next be seen on the big screen in the horror film The Woman in Black (watch trailer).

When relative newcomer Lana Del Rey was picked to be the musical guest on Daniel Radcliffe’s “Saturday Night Live,” many observers were unfamiliar with her music and wondered who she was.

After watching her performance on Saturday, at least some celebrity viewers are less than impressed.

Juliette Lewis slammed Del Rey on Twitter, writing, “Wow watching this ‘singer on SNL is like watching a 12 yearold in their bedroom when theyre pretending to sing and perform. #signofourtimes.”

“Who…is…this wack-a-doodle chick performing on #SNL..? Whaaaa?” tweeted Eliza Dushku.

A legion of Del Rey fans quickly turned on Dushku, leading the actress to clarify that she didn’t mean anything nasty with her remark.

Del Rey is one of the only singers ever given the chance to perform on “SNL” before releasing a first album.

He might be best known as Harry Potter, but Daniel Radcliffe now also has the distinction of being the only performer to play Casey Anthony’s new dog.

On “Saturday Night Live,” Radcliffe portrayed the pooch with a memorable costume and some exceedingly dark humor.

When the world first learned of Anthony’s new dog, a lot of people probably had a reaction similar to the one depicted by Radcliffe as the anxious, sarcastic Yorkshire terrier.

In a sketch called “Hogwarts Castle 2020,” new students arrive for orientation, only to be greeted by an unemployed Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), who hasn’t really left the hallowed halls since graduating 10 years earlier.

He tells the new students, “These are going to be the best days of your lives,” adding wistfully, “It does not get better.”

Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are also still around, but they’re now working as professors at Hogswarts.

There are other cameos, too, by professors MacGonagall and Snape, as well as an appearance by Rubeus Hagrid, who’s married former student Luna Lovegood.

Draco Malfoy is back, but to drop off his daughter, who’s a new student. He mentions his family saw Potter playing Quidditch… alone — and cheering for himself.

Daniel Radcliffe hosted “Saturday Night Live,” and he addressed the fans of Harry Potter.

He said to all the kids, “Your enthusiasm was the real magic, and I so enjoyed being on the journey with you.”

And to the adults, Radcliffe pointed out, “Those books were for children. You were reading children’s books.”

Radcliffe also noted how over the years different people have played Harry Potter on “Saturday Night Live,” including Bill Hader, Hugh Jackman, and even Rachel Dratch.”

He asked that the show not do any Harry Potter-themed sketches, but behind him were the “Jersey Shore Hogwarts,” featuring “Snooki” (Bobby Moynihan) and “The Situation” (Hader).

“New Girl” Zooey Deschanel and 21 Jump Street star Channing Tatum are set to host “Saturday Night Live.”

It will be the first time for both actors.

Tatum will have hosting duties on February 4, with Bon Iver serving as musical guest.

Deschanel will then host on February 11.

Her musical guest is Karmin.

Boy wizard Daniel Radcliffe recently joined MTV’s Josh Horowitz for a segment of “American Talk: Ghost Protocol.”

Things got intense.

Radcliffe was quizzed on the titles of all four films in The Twilight Saga (we won’t spoil how he did) and, at one point, was instructed to hit Horowitz a la Fight Club.

The duo cover other important aspects of American culture and history, too, including Neil Diamond, Transformers, and playing the bongos naked.

Daniel Radcliffe can defeat the world’s most dangerous wizards – but dating is still a challenge.

In the new Parade, the Harry Potter star talks about struggling to romance his girlfriend, Rosie Coker.

“I hated dating because I’m crap at it!” says Radcliffe. “With Rosie, I didn’t know what was appropriate, like on which date you’re supposed to try and kiss her.”

That led to some awkward moments.

“At the end of the second date I pulled a move out of the Bela Lugosi Book of Woo,” he recalls, referring to Hollywood’s most famous Dracula. “I went to kiss Rosie and at the last minute lost my nerve and ended up kissing her neck, which is such a weirdly intimate place to kiss somebody on a second date.”

But he’s gotten comfortable enough with Coker to say he is “absolutely” in love with her.

Radcliffe tells Parade, “When Rosie’s here, every day seems better… I’m not an easy person to love.”

He explains that while there are “lots of times when I’m a very good boyfriend,” there are also times “when I’m useless. I mean, I’m a mess around the house. I talk nonstop. I become obsessed with things.”

Coker doesn’t seem to mind.

“She loves me for my oddness, my awkwardness, all of those things that I hate about myself,” says Radcliffe, adding, “She finds them cute. I guess that’s love.”

Lana Del Rey is becoming a big deal.

Buzz about songs like “Video Games” and her upcoming Born To Die album have rocketed Del Rey to prominence, even getting her the musical guest gig alongside host Daniel Radcliffe on the January 14 “Saturday Night Live.”

Del Rey just premiered a “found footage”-style video for “Off To The Races” on her YouTube channel.

The Harry Potter star will make his “SNL” debut on January 14, 2012, accompanied by musical guest Lana Del Rey.

His appearance will come shortly before the release of his horror film, The Woman in Black.

The prior week, Charles Barkley will return as “Saturday Night Live” host on January 7, with Kelly Clarkson serving as musical guest.

On Tuesday, Forbes published its “Best Actors for the Buck” list, which compiles Hollywood’s most profitable stars (in terms of revenue their movies generate versus the salaries they’re paid).

To qualify for this list, each actor or actress had to star in at least three movies over the past five years that opened in more than 500 theaters, animated films excluded.

Forbes then divided those movies’ total revenue by the stars’ total compensation to arrive at an estimated bang-for-the-buck figure.

Not surprisingly, franchise stars like Kristen Stewart ($55.83 generated for every dollar she was paid) and Daniel Radcliffe ($34.24) fare very well.

In  an “SNL” sketch called “The Best of Both Worlds with Hugh Jackman,” the actor made a cameo — but not as himself.

Instead, Andy Samberg played Jackman in a skit about how the Aussie actor is “the most masculine and most feminine man in the world,” with the ability to star in both Real Steel and a one-man musical on Broadway.

Among the guests on “Both Worlds” was the real Jackman, who played Daniel Radcliffe and complimented Samberg’s ”Jackman” on being in such amazing shape. Samberg explained it was nothing more than “bicep and calf implants” and “Botox.”

On his new talk show next week, Anderson Cooper will interview Gerard Depardieu, the French actor whose public pee party on a plane inspired Cooper’s epic on-camera giggle fit last month.

Depardieu will chat with Cooper on September 13′s “Anderson,” a day after the show debuts with Amy Winehouse‘s family.

The second episode will also feature appearances from Kathy Griffin, Daniel Radcliffe and others.

The small-bladdered thespian has already made light of his recent below-the-belt emergency in a parody video plugging his upcoming project.

We’ll be curious to see Cooper and Depardieu interact, although it’s going to be tough to top “The Ridiculist” segment that brought them together in the first place (watch below).

Nick Jonas is coming back to Broadway!

The Jo Bro will star as James Pierrepont Finch, previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

Darren Criss takes over for Radcliffe temporarily from January 3 – 22, and then Jonas will assume the role through June.

The singer tweeted that he’s “so excited & honored” to be a part of the Tony award-nominated production.

Jonas has appeared in several shows, including ”Les Miserables,” “A Christmas Carol,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

Daniel Radcliffe‘s girlfriend is reportedly Rosanne Coker.

The 22-year-old brunette, who was photographed walking hand in hand with the Harry Potter star this week in New York, has been dating Radcliffe since last year, her father tells The Daily Mail.

“I don’t want to say too much really as they would really prefer to keep things quiet,” Malcolm Coker is quoted as saying. “But Rosanne has worked on the last three Harry Potter films, so she and Daniel have known each other quite a long time. But they have been going out for just over a year now.”

He continues, “I have met Daniel and he is a lovely guy. I’m just really happy for Rosanne and as long as she is happy that is all that matters to me.”

Coker first met Radcliffe while working as a production assistant on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2007.

She reportedly splits her time between New York (where Radcliffe has been starring on Broadway) and her family’s home in Surrey, England.

In an interview last month, the actor told Larry King he had a girlfriend “who I am very much in love with.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 passed $1 billion at the worldwide box office on Sunday, a first for history’s most successful film franchise.

2001′s original, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, came closest to the milestone, with a final tally of $974.8 million. Adjusted for inflation, it’s still the record-holder.

But Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint‘s current hit is now racing up the all-time list.

The eighth and final Potter movie has now earned $318 million in North America and $690 million overseas, passing The Dark Knight for 8th on the all-time worldwide box office chart and passing Transformers: Dark of the Moon to become the year’s second-highest grossing movie.

It should wind up topping 2011′s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is currently at $1.033 billion worldwide.

Despite its incredible success, Deathly Hallows will need serious magic to become history’s all-time champ.

That title still goes to Avatar, which earned a staggering $2.78 billion across all markets two years ago.

Darren Criss is negotiating to take over for Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway.

The “Glee” actor would potentially star as James Pierrepont Finch in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” when Radcliffe’s time with the show ends in January.

Ironically, Criss broke through on YouTube parodying Radcliffe’s most famous character in “A Very Potter Musical” and its sequel.

A source close to Criss tells Gossip Cop that he’s in talks with producers, although a deal not yet been finalized.

The revival of “How To Succeed” has been a major success, due in no small part to Radcliffe’s movie stardom.

Emma Watson got teary-eyed last night at the premiere of the final Harry Potter movie in London.

Watson, who’s starred in the films with Daniel Radcliffe for the past ten years, told him, “You were and are the perfect Harry, and will be forever.”

Radcliffe then rushes up and embraces his co-star.

Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he was so concerned about his years of boozing that he gave it up entirely.

The actor says in the August issue of GQ that when he was filming Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, at the age of 18, he became “reliant” on  alcohol.

“There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” acknowledges Radcliffe.

He notes how he was lucky to not be caught by the paparazzi while drunk.

“I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken,” say Radcliffe.

The Harry Potter star hasn’t had an ounce of alcohol since last August, and wouldn’t even think of having a drink or two at a party.

“I do that very  unsuccessfully. I’d just rather sit at home and read, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh… There’s no shame in enjoying the quiet life.”

Radcliffe’s last Potter film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II opens in a week and a half.

The end has begun… and it is HUGE.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, the second-to-last movie in a magical series that has steamrolled the competition for a decade, showed that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint still have special box office wizardry.

The film earned a mind-boggling $125.1 million this weekend, easily nabbing the #1 spot at the box office.

Megamind, last week’s leader, took second place with $16.2 million, and Unstoppable came in third with $13.1 million.

Due Date took fourth place with $9.2 million, and in the fifth spot, with approximately $6.8 million, was The Next Three Days, the newly released thriller starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks.

Rounding out the Top Ten were Morning Glory ($5 million), Skyline ($3 million), Red ($2.2 million),  For Colored Girls ($1.8 million), and Fair Game ($1.1 million).
