“Lady Gaga plans to revamp her New York condo – and install her giant Grammys stage egg as a bed,” reports The Mirror.

According to the British tab, Gaga is spending approximately $2 million to redecorate her New York apartment “as a sort of shrine to her stage self,” and is even having a replica of her oversized Grammys egg designed to use as a bed.

Yes, you read that correctly.

A so-called “insider” for the paper says, “The egg vessel is being made especially for her,” adding, “She’ll be able to sleep in it, in place of a double bed.”

“She felt so at home in the egg on stage,” the source goes on to explain, “she spent hours in it meditating and says when she’s in it she feels at peace.”

Seriously?

NO!

A rep for the “Born This Way” singer tells Gossip Cop the Mirror‘s story is completely “not true.”

Yes, this yet another tabloid eggs-ageration.

Another day, another Angelina Jolie adoption rumor.

The Daily Mirror claims that Jolie and Brad Pitt are planning to adopt a 4-year-old Haitian girl named Leah, whom the actress met last year on a visit to the country.

According to the outlet, “It was love at first sight” for Jolie, who hopes the child “will be part of her big happy family at Brangelina Towers by the end of this year.”

A source for the tab says, “Angelina’s lawyers are in the process of getting an authorisation so Leah can spend some time with her in America. That’s standard procedure, basically they need to make sure Leah will adapt well.”

“If Leah fits well within her family in the States, she will be able to adopt her,” the supposed “source” adds.

Hmm…

So the child will come to stay with the Jolie-Pitts on a temporary basis, and go back to Haiti if it doesn’t work out?

That doesn’t sound like “standard procedure” to us.

Moreover, the Mirror claims the couple will adopt “by the end of this year,” buying them 11 months to be “right.” If Jolie doesn’t adopt by 2012, they’re off the hook, of course, because by that time the story will be long forgotten.

Gossip Cop is very skeptical about this adoption rumor.

UPDATE – Jolie herself has now confirmed that she will NOT be adopting.

“Earlier this week, the Daily Mirror U.K. and others reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are in the process of adopting a child from Haiti. There is no truth to these rumors,” her representative says in a statement.

“Simon Cowell signs Will Smith to US X Factor,” blares a headline from the Daily Mirror.

The tab calls the securing of Smith as a judge on the singing competition show a “massive coup.”

According to the Mirror, Cowell thinks Smith and purported judge Cheryl Cole “will be a brilliant formula” when the show begins in the U.S.

Really? That’s what Cowell thinks?

Funny, because a rep for Smith tells Gossip Cop exclusively that there is “no truth” to the story.

Smith is NOT going to be a judge on “X Factor.”

Could Bon Jovi be leaving the road for a long stay in the desert?

A rumor everywhere today claims that the blockbuster act has been offered a highly lucrative deal to have a residency at a top Las Vegas hotel.

The story began with the Mirror, an outlet frequently “living on a prayer” with outlandish claims.

So are Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and the rest of the guys setting up shop in Sin City?

“It’s not true,” a rep for the band tells Gossip Cop.

Like a Vegas magic act, this latest Mirror rumor is bogus.

Just a few weeks ago, after picking up someone else’s lousy reporting, which claimed Victoria Beckham was expecting, Perez Hilton wrote, “We hope it’s true.”

Had Perez just done a few minutes of fact-checking, he would’ve known that Beckham was NOT pregnant before further spreading the false report.

But if Perez is one thing, it’s consistent – consistently lazy and wrong.

Again today, he picked up another outlet’s questionable story, with the similarly lame refrain of “we hope this isn’t true!”

This time the subject is Beckham’s fellow Spice Girls member, Mel B, whose marriage may be “on the rocks,” according to Perez.

Basing his post on a Daily Mirror report, the bad blogger declares, “It seems Mel B and Stephen Belafonte are headed for divorce.”

And after providing little evidence for that, Hilton wonders about its accuracy - ”Is this the (sic) British press making up a story???” – before concluding, “We hope this isn’t true!”

Well, Gossip Cop did what Perez finds unthinkable – uh, we fact-checked – and a rep for the singer tells us ”it’s all fine” between Mel B and her hubby.

“Simon Cowell’s Fake Girlfriend to Fly to London for Fake Show of Unity,” declares a headline on Showbiz Spy.

Not surprisingly, what’s “fake” here is the reporting.

The blog claims, “Simon Cowell is conveniently flying his makeup artist girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy out to London – just days after reports surfaced the couple had split.”

Citing Britain’s Daily Mirror, Showbiz Spy reports that Cowell “has told the brunette to leave Los Angeles and join him in the British capital, where he’s currently filming his UK TV talent show X Factor.”

It’s hard to take the Mirror’s reporting seriously when its article has London misspelled in its headline.

Anyway, according to an unnamed source, quoted by both outlets, “For Mezhgan, enough was enough. She confronted Simon about it and he agreed something needed to be done…Hopefully some quality time together will help them resolve their differences and cement their future together.”

Wait.

If Hussainy is a “fake girlfriend” and she’s flying to London for a “fake show of unity,” then why would they need to “resolve their differences and cement their future together”?

Looks like the article has about as much use for simple logic as it does for accuracy.

A rep for Cowell says, “The idea he would do that is totally ridiculous,” and added that the couple is “absolutely fine.”

Is a former twosome tangoing again?

“Despite reportedly trying to woo heartbroken Cheryl Cole,” whispers one site, “Dancer Derek Hough is allegedly still dating actress Shannon Elizabeth.” Hough has “started dating” Elizabeth, according to another.

How did this buzz begin?

With a piece in the Daily Mirror asserting that “Dancing With the Stars” heartthrob Hough “met up” with his “girlfriend” Elizabeth just days before going on a date with “X Factor” judge Cole. The Mirror quotes Elizabeth’s friend Sloane Lewis as saying the actress and Hough continued seeing each other after officially splitting last summer.

Elizabeth “is still hung-up on Derek,” Lewis supposedly says.

Gossip Cop wishes these sites were more “hung-up” on accuracy.

A source close to Elizabeth tells us the Lewis quotes are “completely made up.”

And a rep for the actress called reports that Elizabeth and Hough are still dating “inaccurate.” “Shannon and Derek have been broken up for some time now,” she assures Gossip Cop.

According to the brief story, the “Friends” star is planning on opening her very own eatery. The piece even quotes Aniston saying, “If all goes well I hope to open a Mexican restaurant in New York City in 2010… I love Mexican food. I’ll mingle with customers and be a guest waitress.”

Sorry, but this story doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.

Gossip Cop checked with Aniston’s rep, who assured us it’s “not true.”

Susan Boyle is living her dream and extremely grateful this Christmas.

She said, “I thank everyone for their kind messages, present and cards.”

In fact, the “Britain’s Got Talent” runner-up has so many cards, she said, “I can barely get in the door… Each and every one is so special and I’ve re-read them time and time again.”

Boyle added that she was overjoyed and humbled this Christmas by the success of her briskly selling album, “I Dream A Dream.” The singing sensation further gushed to the Daily Mirror, “It’s been an absolutely brilliant year and I can’t thank everyone enough for the support I’ve been given… I am the happiest I have ever been and truly enjoying myself. It’s been quite a year.”

“I’d like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. I’m looking forward to 2010 and all that it has to offer,” said Boyle.

Rumors about Madonna being “difficult” while recently doing interviews in London have been somewhat exaggerated.

“She left underlings quivering with tension as she filmed a series of interviews,” reports The Mirror.

The British tab claims Madonna thought the area set up for interviews wasn’t up to par, so “she demanded they immediately change the furniture and painstakingly re-rig all the lighting.”

And a source told the Mirror: “She had a string of interviews lined up and seemed to get more fractious as the day wore on.”

Madonna’s rep said this account isn’t true, but acknowledged, “It’s natural to fine tune lighting. It happens at every press junket.”

And that’s 100 percent correct. Gossip Cop spent a good part of the last two decades in front of and behind the cameras, and playing with camera angles and lighting is essentially a given.

“Is love Blooming again for our Jen,” reads a headline in the Mirror, which tries to link Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom.

The article tauntingly asks, “If they’re just good Friends, how come Jennifer Aniston and Orlando Bloom seem so keen not to be seen together?”

Aniston and Bloom both landed in London’s Heathrow airport yesterday, but didn’t want to be photographed together, which caused some journalists and bloggers to speculate that they were hiding more than just their faces.

The Mirror even reports that they “were seen sneaking off together in a car outside.”

Hardly sneaking.

In fact, Aniston and Bloom were spotted later… in Morocco!

They were both at a bash for the re-opening of Marrakech’s famed Hotel La Mamounia.

Oh, one more thing: Bloom was at the party with…  girlfriend Miranda Kerr.

Gossip Cop fully understands what Aniston and Bloom had to contend with. We’re still battling rumors from that same time we were in LAX as Rue McClanahan.

Maybe the Mirror’s “3am” column should get a little more sleep because their facts are a little blurry about Zac Efron partying in London the other night.

According to the tab, the “High School Musical” star was a on “four-hour booze bender” after the premiere of his new film, “Me & Orson Welles.”

The paper claims that at the film’s after-party, held at a Hawaiian-themed club called Kanaloa, Efron got “a round of rum shots” for his co-stars and then footed the bill for some $165-a-pop concoctions called the “Treasure Chest,” which the paper describes as “a potent brew of peach schnapps and brandy, topped with a bottle of bubbly.”

Reportedly all liquored up, Efron allegedly “grabbed a Hawaiian lei garland, flung it around his neck, jumped up on the bamboo tables and started busting his moves to Beyonce and the Beach Boys.” Added a so-called source, “He was having a great time and was the life and soul of the party.”

We’d say we’re sorry that we missed it, but it actually NEVER happened. A source, who was with Efron at the after-party, tells Gossip Cop that the star, jet-lagged from flying in earlier that day, hung out a little bit with his director Richard Linklater and co-stars Claire Danes and Christian McKay, but “left early” – no bender, no booty shaking.

And Efron’s rep confirms to Gossip Cop that the story was “completely made up,” and that her client called it a night after a short stay at the club because he had to get up early the next day for press interviews.

Sorry, tabs, but we’d had to call this “High School Musical: Sober Year.”

“There’s nothing worse than another person having power over you by bullying you and you not knowing how to get rid of that thing,” says Susan Boyle who, for the first time, has openly and bravely revealed the torture she endured as a child.

Now an international singing sensation, Boyle wasn’t only bullied by her classmates. She was also beaten by her own teachers, she says, because she was a “wee bit slower.”

“You’re looking at someone who would get the belt every day,” Boyle tells the Daily Mirror in advance of her album’s release next week. “There was discipline for the sake of discipline back then,” says Boyle, who acknowledges she was a “slow learner.” She adds, “It’s all very different now. I think teachers are taught to understand children with learning disabilities a lot better.”

Gossip Cop actually thinks she taught everyone a lesson or two. Boyle hasn’t just “Dreamed A Dream.” With record-breaking pre-order sales for her album, Boyle is now living it.

Enter Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie into the “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” file.

Jolie, who’s the subject this week of cover stories from OK!, Star, Us Weekly, Life & Style, and the National Enquirer, attended L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art’s 30^th anniversary exhibition with Pitt two nights ago, and not surprisingly, their every gesture and grimace were (over)analyzed.

The Daily Mirror, for instance, ran the headline, “Sombre Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie look distant on a rare night out as they join A-listers at art party.”

“Somber?” (as we prefer to spell it) Really?

The paper editorialized, “Far from their usual red carpet public displays of affection we are used to, the couple simply walked a short distance apart as they were shown the gallery’s collection on a private tour,” which included pieces by Mark Rothko, Roy Lichtenstein and Jackson Pollock.

So now if they don’t hold hands, which they actually did at certain points that evening, or kiss for the cameras inside a “sombre” museum, it’s a sign of trouble?

Of course, the naysayers will take their public outing to claim it’s for just for show amidst a mass of negative publicity – or blame the parents of six for not spending time with their children. The Daily Mirror even noted how they were out “without their six children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox” – because everyone knows how much kids LOVE museums.

Anyway, in order to illustrate how they “look distant,” the tab and other media outlets ran photos of the couple looking serious as they checked out the artwork, standing about 10-inches apart. Yeah, real distant.

And that’s precisely why Gossip Cop has used another photo from that evening that paints an entirely different – and more accurate – story.

You should still brace yourselves, because there will be plenty more insinuations and innuendos about Brangelina in two weeks when an unauthorized biography hits bookstores.

“Harry Potter idol Daniel Radcliffe laughed his head off as he smoked pot at a party,” begins an explosive cover story in the Daily Mirror.

According to the article, Radcliffe walked around a recent London party saying, “I love weed.”

One guest named Wadia Tazi told the paper, Radcliffe “looked spaced out and didn’t look like he knew what was going on.”

So much so, claims the British tabloid, that Radcliffe allowed one woman to draw a moustache and beard on his face. Tazi said, “Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn’t really look like he knew what was going on.”

Last year the multimillionaire star was quoted as saying, “I’ve been around some amazing people and still managed to keep a real childlike view of the world. I’m not into drugs.”

Nevertheless, Tazi told the Daily Mirror that while he and Radcliffe were in the kitchen of their apartment where the party was thrown, “He pulled out a huge joint and lit up.”

Well, this story sounds damning. But does the weed report smell bad, too?

A rep for Radcliffe quickly issued the following statement: “We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today’s Daily Mirror. Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations.”
