It turns out Maya Rudolph has a strange connection to the discovery of a human head (and other body parts) near the famous Hollywood sign.

Her friend’s dog was the one that made the gruesome find.

Rudolph told Conan O’Brien all about the bizarre situation on “Conan,” and showed a photograph of the traumatized dog (Ollie), taken in the police car after the head discovery.

Conan O’Brien delivered a special Hamm, as in Jon, to one of his staffers for Christmas.

The late night talk show host explained on his show that every year his staff does Secret Santa gift exchanges, and that he usually doesn’t participate because “I give the gift… of employment,” but this year he  ”thought it would be fun.”

The recipient of O’Brien’s gift was his talent coordinator Ashley Olivia.

While trying to figure out what to get her, he rummaged through her desk for possible ideas, and happened to notice a photo of Jon Hamm taped to her cubicle.

After asking a woman who sits next to Olivia whether his talent coordinator thinks Hamm’s attractive, while comparing the photo of the “Mad Men” star to himself, O’Brien realized what he should give his staffer as a Secret Santa.

When it came time to give Olivia her gift, O’Brien had her come onstage during a “Conan,” taping, and presented her with a big photo of Hamm.

He then noted, ”I didn’t get it signed,” adding, “Let’s take care of that right now,” as Hamm emerged from backstage.

An appreciative Olivia was truly shocked.

The holidays came early for the Obama family, who celebrated “Christmas in Washington” on Sunday with a slew of celebrities, including Justin Bieber.

The President, wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia welcomed Bieber, Conan O’Brien, Jennifer Hudson and others to the National Building Museum for the spirited festivities.

Bieber and his celebrity pals each had a turn on the stage before all coming together for a group performance with the President at the end of the night.

The special event, which will air on TNT on December 16, left Bieber particularly impressed.

Conan O’Brien officiated the first same-sex marriage on late night TV when he presided over the wedding of his costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein during a taping of “Conan.”

The marriage ceremony took place on Thursday at the Beacon Theater in New York, where same-sex couples can legally wed.

Cronick, a fan of Bravo’s “What What Happens Live,” had its host Andy Cohen give him away.

The two grooms exchanged personal vows under a chuppah, the traditional Jewish wedding canopy, and in accordance with Jewish law broke a glass with their feet.

After O’Brien officially pronounced them husband and husband, he wished Cronick and Gorshein “mazel tov!”

Conan O’Brien will officiate a gay wedding on his show next week.

The late-night TV host plans to preside over a marriage ceremony between a longtime staffer and his partner during one of the “Conan” episodes he’s taping at the Beacon Theater in New York to mark his TBS show’s one-year anniversary, Gossip Cop confirms.

It’s not been revealed who the grooms-to-be are, nor is it clear which night the wedding will take place.

New York State legalized gay marriage earlier this year.

Conan O’Brien “surprised” Jimmy Fallon when he made an appearance on “Late Night,” the talk show O’Brien had hosted for 16 years.

When Fallon asks him what he was doing, O’Brien said, “I was back in New York, and decided I wanted to check out my old studio.”

After a comedically awkward exchange about “what happened” to the carrot-topped host and why he was no longer at NBC, O’Brien explained that he stopped by because “I left something here, something important to me… Can I get it back?”

O’Brien then “retrieved” Triumph the Insult Comic Dog from behind the couch.

Conan O’Brien got caught looking at Nicole Scherzinger‘s boobs last night.

The talk show host seemed taken by Scherzinger’s dress from the moment she stepped on stage, asking, “Are you able to sit in this dress? It’s like it’s painted on!”

Later, “The X Factor” judge busted O’Brien, whose eyes apparently lingered too long on her chest (just after the 2:00 mark).

Scherzinger interrupted herself to say, “Focus, Conan,” drawing laughter from the crowd and embarrassed protests from O’Brien.

“You didn’t think I was gonna look down there?”

James Franco‘s porn documentary appears to be making progress.

The actor had mentioned in an interview with Conan O’Brien that he was preparing to shoot a film about an industry that fascinates him.

“There’s this amazing facility in San Francisco,” said Franco. “It’s at this old armory and they do everything in house, they build their props in house, so I’m making a documentary about that. It’s an incredible place.”

Specifically, he’s been sighted touring the Kink.com operations, which are located at the San Francisco Armory.

It’s not clear whether the company will be the sole focus of Franco’s film. The Oscars host did not refer to Kink.com by name in the “Conan” interview, and an adult actress’ tweet mentioning that he’d been at the armory was subsequently deleted.

No word on when filming on the project is set to begin.

Kathy Griffin claims she called presidential candidate Michele Bachmann a “bigot” to her face.

During her “Conan” appearance last night, the comedian tells Conan O’Brien she found herself in an elevator with the conservative Congresswoman and a staffer while Griffin was in Washington, D.C. to rally for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

As the politician’s staffer recorded the exchange with a camera, Griffin says she asked Bachmann whether she could count on her support for the repeal, to which the Republican supposedly replied, “Oh, I don’t think so.”

Griffin says she then turned and asked, “Congresswoman Bachmann, were you born a bigot or did you, like, grow into it?”

Bachmann supposedly responded, ”That’s a good question, I’m gonna have to get back to you.”

TBS has canceled “Lopez Tonight,” the late-night talk show hosted by George Lopez.

The final episode will be Thursday.

“TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight,” says the network in a statement.

“We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”

Last year, “Lopez Tonight” was pushed to a later time slot to make room for Conan O’Brien‘s new TBS show.

“Carmageddon” has arrived – but so far, so good.

This weekend’s long-feared closure of the 405 freeway in Los Angeles, which had the LAPD asking celebrities to tweet advisories and Hollywood gripped in panic, has been calm in its first hours.

“Not gonna lie – loving LA during this #Carmageddon scare – there is zero traffic,” tweets Jessica Alba. “It’s like LA at xmas peace n quiet EVERYWHERE!”

But officials are still warning that things could get ugly as traffic picks up later on Saturday.

More than two dozen celebrities responded to the police department’s request for assistance in getting out the word via Twitter – including Kim Kardashian, Conan O’Brien, Ashton Kutcher and Ryan Seacrest.

After weeks of warnings, many residents opted to stay off the roads entirely today, resulting in even less traffic than usual for motorists.

“There has been a lot of hype, and well-intentioned hype, because we wanted to make sure people really got the message: stay at home!” Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa tells the Los Angeles Times.

Paris Hilton heeded the warning, tweeting, “I’m not leaving my house to drive anywhere this weekend.”

As for the non-apocalyptic traffic situation to this point, many celebs are hopeful.

“The only time I support fear based propaganda is for things like y2k and Carmageddon,” tweeted “The Voice” star Adam Levine. “That s**t works.”

Tiffany Thornton wrote, “Headed out for another awesome day of filming for Disney. So far carmageddon isn’t bad at all.”

As smoothly as things have gone (so far), some celebs just want the whole thing to be over already.

“If I hear the term ‘carmageddon’ one more time I’m gonna scream,” tweeted Lucy Hale.

The documentary captures O’Brien and his team as they travel to 32 cities with their “half-assed show,” performing music and comedy to sold-out venues.

Bieber snagged a People’s Voice Award for Best Comedy Video for “Justin Bieber Takes Over Funny or Die.”

Galifianakis won a whopping three awards for his show “Between Two Ferns,” including Best Web Personality/Host, Best Comedy Individual Short or Episode and Best Online Variety Show.

Kudrow’s series “Web Therapy” landed her two awards, Best Comedy: Long Form or Series and Best Individual Performance in an Online Video.

Also taking home awards were Jim Carrey (Best Individual Performance in an Online Video as President Reagan in “Funny or Die’s Presidential Reunion”), Steve Carrell (Best Comedy Individual Short or Episode for “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis”) and Conan O’Brien (Best Celebrity/Fan website for his Team Coco site).

Another major media outlet is treating a parody Sarah Palin “interview” about Christina Aguilera as though it is real.

As Gossip Cop reported yesterday, after a satirical site wrote an article in which the former Alaska governor blasts Aguilera’s bungled national anthem performance during a supposed “radio interview” with Sean Hannity, Us Weekly ran the fabricated remarks as authentic.

Among other outlandish comments, “Palin” says in the spoof interview she wants to “deport” Aguilera and declares that “spicy Latin princesses” shouldn’t be permitted to perform the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

The original, clearly labeled satire can be found here.

Us Weekly eventually yanked its story and today printed a retraction and apology.

But it turns out Us Weekly wasn’t alone.

Time magazine’s website made the same mistake.

In a post about Conan O’Brien making fun of Aguilera, Time casually observes, “And you thought Sarah Palin went overboard by commenting that she wanted to deport the singer?”

Sure enough, Time links to the spoof Palin-Hannity “interview” but fails to get that it’s a joke.

Wow.

Maybe the next time Time makes fun of someone else’s “blunder” in a headline, they should be a little more careful with the facts.

Howard Stern is definitely on Team Dave.

The radio host appeared visited “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night, and was not shy expressing his feelings about rival Jay Leno.

“You know, as well as everyone in this room, Jay is horrible, right?” Stern asked Letterman, who seemed a bit uneasy as the audience cheered.

Stern was particularly baffled by Letterman’s decision to appear with Leno in a Super Bowl commercial a year ago.

“We had the guy down on the ground… you had your foot on his neck,” Stern told Letterman, alluding to Leno’s bad publicity during last winter’s conflict with Conan O’Brien.

“I didn’t like it,” said Stern of Letterman’s friendly interaction with Leno, before recommending that the entire “Late Show” staff needed an “attitude adjustment” to become more competitive.

Conan O’Brien apologized to Jimmy Kimmel yesterday for airing a comedy bit about Sarah Palin shooting Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer that was similar to a segment done two weeks ago on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Joking that the staff member responsible for the snafu has been fired, O’Brien (and sidekick Andy Richter) did their best to make things right.

“Saturday Night Live” star Seth Meyers has been tapped to host the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner this year.

The comedian will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event, which will be held on April 30.

Meyers joins a long list of famous comedians who have hosted the event, including Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert and Jay Leno.

The annual dinner is part celebration, part presidential roast.
