POLLSThe final installment in “The Twilight Saga” begins production this fall.
As announced late yesterday, “Breaking Dawn” will be turned into two separate films, with the first set to hit screens on November 18, 2011. Dividing Stephenie Meyer’s final tome in half had long been the expected route; it’s now official.
There is also word that the movies could be done in 3-D. The technology has inspired both awe (in films like “Avatar”) and groans (“Clash of the Titans”).

After a back-and-forth battle that lasted into Monday, Kick-Ass has emerged victorious over surprise performer How To Train Your Dragon… by a very narrow margin.

After a tight battle that was too close to call until today, Sam Worthington and CGI monsters fended off Tina Fey and Steve Carell.
Clash of the Titans ($26.6 million) won the box office for the second straight weekend, edging new release Date Night ($25.2 million) after final numbers showed the comedy pulled in roughly $2 million less than reported on Sunday.
Most outlets reported late Sunday and early Monday that Date Night had won a narrow victory based on projections.

The race for #1 is still too close to call, with Date Night and Clash of the Titans within a few hundred thousand dollars of each other and rival studios making separate predictions ahead of Sunday’s final numbers.

As expected, Clash of the Titans put up some titanic box office numbers.
The 3D sandals-and-swords extravaganza hauled in $64.1 million (including Thursday’s preview screenings), giving it the top spot on this weekend’s chart.
It’s the best Easter Weekend opening ever.

The Last Song, starring Cyrus and real-life beau Liam Hemsworth, won the box office in its first day of release, banking an estimated $5.1 million on Wednesday. With the early open, Cyrus topped mid-week performances from major holdovers like How To Train Your Dragon and Hot Tub Time Machine, and is projected to take in as much as $20 million over the holiday weekend.
