The Star, which just two and a half weeks ago claimed that Britney Spears and boyfriend Jason Trawick were concerned about each other’s faithfulness, is now reporting that they’re having a baby together.

“Britney’s pregnant,” screams a headline in the tab. 

According to Star, with only one concert to go in Australia, on November 27 Spears threw a party in Melbourne for her dancers and crew, but in her VIP section there was no booze, which the mag noted “was strange for someone celebrating the end of a grueling nine-month, 97-concert schedule.” 

Or…

Maybe that’s how a sober Spears made it through that “grueling” schedule — plus, she still had another concert to perform.

Nevertheless, that’s the starting point for the Star‘s piece on her being allegedly pregnant.

The article then quotes an unnamed source as saying, “Britney took a home pregnancy test… She’s been feeling queasy on and off.” Sort of how Gossip Cop feels when reading the Star.

After a second test came back positive, reports the Star, her family wasn’t happy nor was “fiance Jason Trawick,” who was shocked “because Britney has been very strict about using contraception.” 

Must we again? Trawick and Spears are NOT engaged.

Towards the end of the story, a so-called insider says, “Brit wants a baby, but after seeing everyone’s reaction she’s wondering if it would be better if the results were just wrong.”

Speaking of “just wrong”… Once again, the Star is wrong.

A source close to the singer tells Gossip Cop, “it’s not true.”

Of course, should Spears become pregnant down the road, the Star will claim to be “the first” to report it — even if they were a year or two early.

So far Gossip Cop hasn’t heard of any controversy involving her latest concert in Melbourne, where Britney Spears just finished performing, but before the singing star hit the stage again Down Under a few hours ago, she hit back at critics who tore into her for lip-synching.

Acknowledging the bad publicity she’s received since she arrived in Australia, Spears said, “I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show… Some reporters have said they love it and some don’t.” But she dismissed the press in favor of those who she cares most about. Spears said, “I came to Australia for my fans!”

A few days ago, promoter Paul Dainty told the media that Spears was “extremely upset” by reports that concertgoers had bolted from her first performance in Perth last Friday. And while he said that talk of people walking out was “an absolute fabrication,” Gossip Cop investigated and determined that, while the scope of the exodus was exaggerated by the media, there were certainly some who left. Still, the vast, vast majority majority of those who attended her concert on Friday were pleased with her performance.

The media “Circus” over Spear’s lip-synching began even before the pop singer landed in Australia when an Australian minister, Virginia Judge – referencing Spears’ professional beginnings – told a local paper that people would not tolerate a “Mickey Mouse performance.” Judge added, “Let’s be clear — live means live,” and “If you are spending up to 200 dollars [$182 U.S.] I think you deserve better than a film clip.” The minister further suggested that tickets should include a disclaimer noting that parts of the concert are pre-recorded.

Oops, the press has done it again with Britney Spears.

It has turned into a media “Circus” Down Under, where several reports have claimed that numerous fans walked out of Spears’ first concert on Friday – after just a few tunes – because of her lip-synching.

Paul Dainty, the tour’s promoter told the newspaper The Australian, “Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it;“ however, he added, it was “totally inaccurate reporting.” He even went so far as to call it “an absolute fabrication.”

You’ll recall last week Gossip Cop reported about the lip-synching controversy after an Australian minister, Virginia Judge – referencing Spears’ professional beginnings – told a local paper that people would not tolerate a “Mickey Mouse performance.” She said, “Let’s be clear — live means live,” and “If you are spending up to 200 dollars [$182 U.S.] I think you deserve better than a film clip.” Judge further suggested that tickets include a disclaimer noting that parts of the concert are pre-recorded.

A spokesperson for Burswood Dome, the Perth venue from where concertgoers allegedly stormed out on Friday, claims no one complained about the performance.

Regardless of that assertion and the tour promoter’s denial, the local newspapers and television shows produced a number of individuals who were annoyed by the lip-synching, some of whom even publicly asked for their money back.

That said, Gossip Cop looked into these stories and concluded that the scope of the exodus has been greatly exaggerated.

While it is true some left upset because of the lip-synching, they were a tiny minority. The vast, vast majority of fans loved Spears’ first performance.

Spears is slated to hit the stage again in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The Australian leg of the Britney Spears Circus tour literally just began in Perth, and already there’s major controversy Down Under, where she’s on stage right now. 

After reports emerged that Spears lip synchs portions of her performance, an Aussie official suggested that tickets should include a disclaimer noting that parts of the concert are pre-recorded.

The Australian minister, Virginia Judge, who referenced Spears’ professional beginnings, told a newspaper that people would not tolerate a “Mickey Mouse performance.” She said, “Let’s be clear — live means live,” and added, “If you are spending up to 200 dollars [$182 U.S.] I think you deserve better than a film clip.”

With some of Spears’ tickets going for as much as $1,400 U.S., government officials there are now mulling whether performers need to disclose on tickets and posters if parts of their concerts are pre-recorded.

Britney Spears is not getting married in Australia. Repeat: NOT getting married in Australia.

Of course, that didn’t stop NW magazine from touting on its cover, “Britney Wants Quickie Oz Wedding,” and writing, “The singer, who recently reunited with her agent Jason Trawick, is looking to get hitched in a lavish ceremony in Oz after she finishes the Australian leg of her Circus tour.”

The magazine steps in it further when it reports, “the couple have already looked at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens as a possible venue.” It also claims, “With Britney’s dad Jamie and mum Lynne flying to Australia for the finale in Brisbane on November 22, insiders expect the pair to tie the knot after the final show.”

Let’s move backwards: The tour’s “finale” is not on November 22 in Brisbane, it’s November 29 in Adelaide.

Additionally, a source close to Spears tells Gossip Cop that she and Trawick have not looked at Sydney’s Royal Botanical Gardens as a wedding venue.

And finally, the reason they haven’t looked at the Botanical Gardens is that they are NOT looking to get married in a lavish ceremony in Australia.
