Chris Daughtry Sued by Former Bandmates

Chris Daughtry says he’s “hurt” by a lawsuit three former bandmates have filed against the rocker and onetime “American Idol” finalist.

Ryan Andrews, Scott Crawford and Mark Perry — who played with Daughtry in the group Absent Element — claim the singer defrauded them out of royalties from four songs to which they allegedly contributed music and lyrics.

The lawsuit, filed this week in North Carolina, accuses Daughtry of “constructive fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, unfair trade practices, and other deceptive and wrongful conduct.”

Almost as soon as they put their microphones down on Wednesday, “American Idol” winner Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox put pen to paper.

Both singers signed record deals.

DeWyze inked a contract with 19 Recordings Limited and RCA Records, while 19 Recordings limited and Jive recruited Bowersox. The pair also had their debut singles (“Beautiful Day” for DeWyze, “Up to the Mountain” for Bowersox) placed on iTunes.
