Chris Brown was born in Virginia on May 5, 1989. He discovered a love for music at a young age, teaching himself to sing and dance after becoming inspired by Michael Jackson. After channeling Usher during a performance of “My Way” at a local talent show, Brown’s mother helped her son pursue a career in the music industry. Brown secured his first record deal with Jive Records in 2004.
Brown released his first self-titled album in November 2005, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 and selling mire than two million copies in the United States. Popular tracks from the album include “Run It!”, “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Gimme That.” His subsequent albums were “Exclusive,” “Graffiti,” “F.A.M.E.,” “Fortune,” “X” and “Fan of a Fan,” a collaborative record with Tyga. Brown has also forayed into the world of acting, appearing on “The O.C.,” and in such films as “Stomp The Yard,” “This Christmas,” “Takers,” “Think Like A Man” and “Battle Of The Year. ”
Brown began dating Rihanna in 2008, but their relationship ended in 2009 after an argument escalated into domestic violence. Rihanna suffered visible bruises and facial injuries, and Brown was charged with felony assault, before getting sentenced to community service and counseling. Shortly after, he released a YouTube video, apologizing to fans and Rihanna for the incident, which he described as his “deepest regret.” In 2011, Brown started dating model Karrueche Tran, but in January 2013, Rihanna confirmed that she and Brown had started dating again, saying the singer was “not the monster everybody thinks. He’s a good person.” But by May 2013, Brown and Rihanna were broken up once again. As of 2015, Brown is in an on-again, off-again relationship with Tran.
Brown’s probation for his conviction in the Rihanna assault case finally ended on March 20, 2015, though he has been in and out of trouble over the years. That same month, it was also revealed that Brown is the father of a baby girl named Royalty with former model Nia Guzman. His currently untitled seventh studio album is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2015.
