Despite a glowing progress report, a judge has denied Chris Brown‘s request to end his supervised probation early.

Mark Geragos, the singer’s attorney, went to court Thursday and argued that the star’s good behavior meant he no longer needed to be under the watch of a probation officer.

A progress report released earlier this month said that Brown had “made great strides,” specifically noting he had completed half of his court-ordered community service and complied with required drug testing.

But the positive feedback wasn’t enough to persuade Judge George Lomeli to amend the terms of Brown’s five-year probation, which stems from his 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The issue will likely be reviewed at Brown’s next progress hearing on July 10.

In the meantime, he must still report to his probation officer in his home state of Virginia.

As Gossip Cop exclusively reported earlier in the week, the R&B star is set to perform at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where Rihanna is also expected to take the stage.

Chris Brown will perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, a rep confirms to Gossip Cop exclusively.

Brown is nominated for three honors at this year’s ceremony.

The “F.A.M.E.” hit maker has been absent from the awards since 2009, when he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna at a pre-Grammys party.

He is currently serving five years probation for that attack.

A number of huge names – including Adele, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry – are slated to take the stage.

Rihanna is also scheduled to perform at this weekend’s show.

The Grammys, hosted by LL Cool J, will be broadcast on CBS live from Los Angeles on Sunday.

The fact that Chris Brown and Rihanna partied at the same L.A. club on Sunday night has many gossip sites in a tizzy.

After TMZ hyped that their both being at Greystone Manor “fueled growing rumors they’re back together,” MediaTakeOut went a step further, reporting that Brown’s girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, and Rihanna nearly had a physical altercation.

MTO claims Tran “confronted” Rihanna at the supper club, and “the two nearly STARTED FIGHTING!!!!”

According to a so-called “insider,” the model is “upset with Rihanna – for her BLATANT SHOTS at Chris Brown in her newest video ['We Found Love'].”

And Tran supposedly “believes that Rihanna WOULD LIKE to get back with Chris Brown,” adds the source.

MediaFakeOut then says Tran and Rihanna “GOT IN EACH OTHERS [sic] FACES” at the venue, quoting an alleged witness as saying, “[Chris and Kae] were on one side of the VIP and Rihanna was on the other. At one point Rihanna walked over, and Kae stepped to her.”

Adds their sight-impaired “insider”: “Before anything could truly POP OFF, Rihanna’s bodyguards came to her rescue, and moved Kae and her girls AWAY from RIH!!!”

“And that was GOOD for Kae,” chimes in MTO, noting, “Rihanna was prepared to WHOOP KARRUECHE’S AZZ!!”

Whoa, that sounds pretty dramatic… and completely made up.

A rep for Greystone Manor tells Gossip Cop exclusively, ”The report is false.”

Whoops.

TMZ is usually a reliable website, but is trying to have it both ways today, hyping rumors of an alleged Rihanna-Chris Brown “reunion” – and then posting an “exclusive” denial of those same rumors.

On Monday morning, TMZ breathlessly announced that the former couple had “partied at the same club” – Greystone Manor in West Hollywood – thereby “fueling growing rumors they’re back together.”

But a short time later, the site suddenly declared it had an “exclusive” from Brown’s rep that he and Rihanna “are NOT back together, despite rampant rumors to the contrary.”

First of all, it’s NOT an “exclusive” – Gossip Cop debunked the same rumors LAST WEEK.

Moreover, TMZ was the place most responsible for “fueling” the rumors of a reunion just hours earlier!

That’s quite a speedy flip-flop.

On the other hand, at least TMZ corrects its mistakes – unlike a ton of other outlets.

Rihanna and Chris Brown have been “secretly hooking up” for almost a year, claims Us Weekly.

The “jaw-dropping revelation” has supposedly been confirmed to the magazine by “several sources,” and the trysts are said to be “common knowledge” in the two performers’ inner circles.

Brown is dating Karrueche Tran, so he and Rihanna allegedly “rendezvous at out-of-the-way places,” according to the magazine.

In fact, most of the story revolves around how Rihanna and Brown are keeping their hookups “clandestine” because it adds even more excitement to the relationship.

“It’s a recipe for disaster. Rihanna loves to live dangerously, and talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that,” explains a so-called “insider” for Us.

Meanwhile, a Brown “pal” tells the magazine, “Having these flings without the world knowing has made the hookups even hotter.”

OK, so the Us story is basically claiming that Rihanna and Chris Brown are totally together – except exclusively behind closed doors, and no one will ever be able to confirm it.

The weekly covers itself even further by mentioning near the end of the article that “most of their friends doubt the two would ever go public again” and that the alleged relationship “isn’t serious.”

Stories about Rihanna and Brown getting back together have been floating around ever since their 2009 breakup.

The fact that the former couple has been on good terms for a while is going to fuel even more speculation that they’ve rekindled romantically.

But it’s simply not the case.

The idea of a reunion has always trumped actual facts in these stories, and there’s no evidence that the two performers have reunited behind Brown’s girlfriend’s back – and the public’s.

A rep for Brown tells Gossip Cop the singer and Rihanna are “just friends,” and that he’s absolutely “not cheating” on Tran.

“Chris Brown and Rihanna… Are Getting BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!!!” blares another so-called “WORLD EXCLUSIVE” from MediaTakeOut, which it apparently still hasn’t figured out how to unlock its caps key.

The blog, which has repeatedly run this same tired story, once again claims, “we FINALLY can CONFIRM that both Rihanna and Chris are WORKING TOWARDS GETTING BACK TOGETHER!!!”

A supposed Brown confidante says, “Chris feels that Rihanna is the LOVE OF HIS LIFE and he wants nothing more than to get back with her.”

And according to an “EXTREMELY reliable insider” for the site, the pair is now “SPEAKING to each other on the phone, and exchanging IM’s and text messages.”

But that’s not all.

MediaFakeOut reports, “The two have decided to MEET UP when Rihanna returns to Los Angeles next week and to see how and whether they should get back together.”

“Rihanna’s RocNation managers are FURIOUS that she’s contacting Breezy,” notes MTO, adding, “They have NO IDEA that the two are planning on meeting up.”

Well, MediaTakeOut has NO IDEA what they’re talking about.

A rep for Brown tells Gossip Cop the blog’s story about a planned reconciliation is simply “not true.”

We hope MTO finds a more “reliable insider” in 2012.

But in a weird (and weirdly catchy) new song/video, a ton of major celebrities – many of them recording artists – line up behind MegaUpload to voice their support.

Kim Kardashian, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Diddy and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. are just some of the famous faces who appear.

The site says it got a “PRIVATE SCREENING… of a sex tape which we’re told is of CHRIS BROWN, and Basketball Wives LA star Draya [Michele].”

Wait, if they got a “private screening” and presumably saw it, then why did they say “we’re told” the tape is of Brown?

Regardless, MTO claims the video is “EXTREMELY GRAPHIC,” and supposedly shows “the couple [taking] turns holding the camera while they performed SEX ACTS on each other.”

We’re not sure what MediaTakeOut is watching during its workday, but it’s definitely NOT Brown in a sex tape.

A rep for the singer tells Gossip Cop that tales of Brown engaging in a graphic video are ”not true.”

Michele similarly denied the rumor on Twitter.

“THEY FIGHTIN!! Chris Brown KNOCKED OUT Drake… Breezy Gave Him The PEOPLE’S ELBOW… And Drake Went TO SLEEP!!!” reads the headline of a piece by MediaTakeOut, where unlocking cap keys is clearly a chore.

Anyway, the site claims that Chris Brown “knocked Drake out,” though never mentions where or when.

Instead, MediaFakeOut bases its story on a passing remark made by DJ Whoo Kidd in a radio interview with Tim Westwood.

While listing Drake’s accomplishments, such as “eight songs on the radio,” DJ Whoo Kidd adds, “I think he got elbowed too by Chris Brown.”

MTO took that as hard fact, but Kidd was kidding.

Brown did NOT elbow Drake in the face.

In fact, DJ Whoo Kidd later tweeted, “LOL me and @timwestwood were joking on radio - #youCantbeSERIOUS HAHA @chrisbrown did not knock out DRAKE!!!”

Once again, another inaccurate MediaTakeOut story gets “knocked out.”

Kelly Rowland “must not care that Chris Brown beat up Rihanna once,” begins a piece from In Touch, which claims Rowland and Brown are secretly “hooking up.”

The mag says the singers, who are currently performing together on Brown’s F.A.M.E. tour, “have quietly started an on-the-road romance.”

According to a supposed “insider” for the tabloid, “About four cities into the tour, Chris began asking Kelly out to dinner. She initially shunned his advances, but ultimately gave in.”

Actually, none of this ever happened.

Brown is dating model Karrueche Tran, and he and Rowland are just working together.

A rep for Brown tells Gossip Cop the tab’s story is “absolutely not true,” adding, “Chris and Kelly are just friends.”

Rihanna tells Esquire she’s happy for ex-boyfriend Chris Brown‘s huge success, even though their relationship ended after he assaulted her hours before the 2009 Grammys.

The singer explains that her rage toward Brown following the incident “was taking up too much of my time,” and she’s since moved on.

“It was too much anger. I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career,” says Rihanna.

Brown’s F.A.M.E. album has produced a number of hits for him, and the performer has gradually re-entered public life as he serves his five-year probation for the felony attack on Rihanna.

“It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did,” she says. “Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know?”

She adds, “I really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan.”

And while their personal relationship ended in ugly fashion, Rihanna seems to have put it behind her.

“I would never wish anything horrible for him,” she says.

Already today, the sloppy site fabricated Chris Brown baby daddy rumors, and now it’s using Diddy‘s Twitter feed to spark speculation that he’s wooing Jennifer Lopez.

MTO first tried to convince everyone of a J. Lo/Diddy reunion back in July, after she and hubby Marc Anthony announced their split.

Gossip Cop debunked it.

Now, the site is pointing to a couple of Diddy’s tweets on Sunday as some kind of evidence that he’s trying to win back Lopez.

“Nobody is gonna love you the way I loved you,” he wrote at one point.

Later, Diddy tweeted, “I’m just sayin you can do better.”

MediaTakeOut says these tweets are Diddy “BEGGING J Lo to give him a second chance.”

Actually, it’s more like MTO is begging visitors for a “second chance” with its 100% wrong premise about the exes getting back together.

Insiders close to Diddy and Lopez assure Gossip Cop – again – that there’s no truth to rumors of a reunion.

Chris Brown just cleared a legal hurdle, with 95 of the 117 parking tickets against him reportedly dismissed.

The performer was facing roughly $15,000 in parking violations, mostly for leaving his car in spots that appeared to be reserved for disabled drivers in a Los Angeles condo lot.

But it turns out the spaces were assigned to Brown’s apartment after all, meaning he’s OK as far as the City of West Hollywood is concerned, according to TMZ.

That said, he still has 22 citations that have not been erased.

Of course, since Brown can fly, he probably doesn’t even need to be messing with cars in the first place.

Chris Brown caught Lindsay Lohan‘s eye during the MTV Video Music Awards, but don’t expect the two to become an item.

After watching his epic performance on Sunday, Lohan tweeted, “@ChrisBrown killed it,” which Brown then retweeted.

Later, Lohan asked, “@chrisbrown wanna meet?”

Instantly, blogs took this to mean that something was about to heat up between the two stars.

But according to Lohan, the buzz suggesting that she’s “propositioning” Brown is an even bigger leap than the ones Brown took on the VMA stage.

“Chris Brown Throws Another Homophobic, Hate-Filled Temper Tantrum in Las Vegas!” exclaims a headline from Perez Hilton, who lifted his story from RadarOnline.

According to the Perez story via RadarOnline, Brown ”dropped a particularly not-so-pleasant, extremely offensive gay slur at the bouncers – and apparently, all for no reason!”

Quoting RadarOnline’s so-called “source,” Perez writes, “Chris Brown went crazy again in Vegas last night. He called the manager and the bouncers f**gots and broke a bottle in his fit of anger! He just went off on them. He called them d**ks and told one dude to suck his d**k!”

Perez then reprints some tweets from Brown in which he said, ”To everybody: never go to club XS in Vegas! They are d**ks.”

But did all of that really happen?

NO.

There was NO broken bottle. NO homophobic slurs.

The real reason Brown later tweeted that “they are d**ks” at XS, says an insider, was that the bouncers “tried to prevent Chris’ security from entering the club” because of dress code issues.

A rep for Brown also confirms the tale is “not true.”

Actually, this was among the handful of stories today that RadarOnline posted and later pulled down because their reporting was so WRONG.

You’ll recall, just last month RadarOnline claimed Brown made anti-gay slurs during a basketball game, but that story was also fictitious. As Gossip Cop reported, on the day RadarOnline said Brown made the alleged homophobic remarks on the basketball court, the rapper was actually working elsewhere on a music video.

Celebrities, many of whom are used to earthquakes on the West Coast, are reacting to the 5.9 magnitude quake centered in Virginia that just rattled the East Coast, from Washington, D.C. to New York City.

Here are some stars’ reaction to the earthquake on Twitter.

Adam Levine, who’s currently in the nation’s capitol, tweeted, ”Happy to have been here for the most freakish earthquake Washington DC has ever seen,” and later added, “Looks like we brought our California earthquake mojo to DC. Oops.”

“Um, earthquake in north carolina? it’s nice to feel at home but please, don’t go overboard,” wrote Elizabeth Banks.

MTV is planning a tribute to Britney Spears as part of the Video Music Awards, and “talking about acknowledging” the late Amy Winehouse.

“Britney will be at the show and we’ll be paying tribute to her,” the event’s executive producer Amy Doyle told Billboard.com.

“She was having an incredible year and she is so beloved by the MTV audience that we started to think what could we do that would be a different experience,” she added.

Winehouse, whose death last month shook the industry, will also be a part of this year’s program.

“We had a great history with Amy. She was very near and dear to us,” says Doyle.

The network recently announced its first slate of presenters (including Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen and Kim Kardashian) and performers (including Adele, Chris Brown and Bruno Mars) for the August 28th telecast.

The wildly popular performer, whose personal life since assaulting Rihanna has been tainted by scandals both real and imagined, is heading out on the road with T-Pain, Tyga and nip slipper Kelly Rowland.

Brown’s 28-date tour kicks off in Toronto on September 12.

“Rihanna and Joe Jonas are getting frisky,” reports British OK!, claiming the two pop stars have been “sending raunchy text messages to each other.”

The mag says Jonas and the “S&M” singer “met when Joe was recording a song with Chris Brown,” and now Rihanna has “vowed to friends to give him the ‘wildest ride’ of his life.”

Wait a minute.

Jonas and Brown only began collaborating in April 2011, and Rihanna and Brown have not hung out since he brutally beat her in 2009.

The exes reconnected on Twitter in May, but that’s the extent of their current relationship. Therefore, it’s impossible that she would have met Jonas through Brown.

In any case, a source close to Jonas says there’s “no truth” to the Rihanna sexting story.

According to the Star/RadarOnline report, “Brown shouted anti-gay slurs during a recent pickup basketball game, stunning and repulsing onlookers.”

The outlets state that “on June 29, the R&B singer turned up at a 24 Hour Fitness center in Los Angeles and joined a casual pickup game. But things quickly turned ugly.”

A so-called “eyewitness” says, “He got really ticked off when things didn’t go his way during the game, saying, ‘That’s gay!’ and ‘You’re a f*gg*t a**!’ to the other players.”

Accompanied by photos of Brown playing hoops, the RadarOnline/Star story says “when another player didn’t pass him the ball,” Brown then “fired off more slurs, calling him a ‘f*gg*t’ and saying  it was a ‘gay’ move.”

While there’s no denying some of Brown’s previous behavior has been completely objectionable — be it his attack on Rihanna or his explosive response to a “Good Morning America” interview — in this particular case, Brown did not use any gay slurs on the basketball court.

For one, the “Exclusive” pictures that RadarOnline uses to illustrate its point about the rapper playing hoops are actually photos that were taken in New York, long before this alleged incident.

More importantly, Gossip Cop has learned that Brown was in a studio in Hollywood on June 29, working on the video for the song, “Body to Body” — and did not play basketball that day.

Brown referred to the Star/RadarOnline report, by writing on Twitter, “Believing everything the media says only makes us stupid as a society.”

Gossip Cop reached out to the editor of both RadarOnline and Star to see if they stand by their story, but has yet to receive a response.

We’re told Brown’s camp is considering legal action.

Again, there’s no place in society for homophobic remarks, but before slam dunking Brown, there’s no evidence this time he committed a foul.

Brown’s rep has now released the following: “A totally fictitious article ran in the current Star Magazine (issue date July 25, 2011) accusing our client Chris Brown of doing something that he did not do.  The article claimed that on June 29, 2011, Chris participated in a pick up basketball game at 24 Hour Fitness Center in LA and said some very inappropriate statements. The incident described did not occur, nor did the Star ever contact Chris’ representatives to request comment or confirmation. Chris was filming a video with AceHood on June 29 and never left the set.  He spent the entire day with dozens of members of the production team filming the video for “Body To Body” at 1870 Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood.  The Star accompanied the fabricated story with a photo of Chris playing basketball in New York that was taken on the day of his F.A.M.E. CD release in March. Chris Brown’s management is considering taking appropriate legal action against the paper. Unfortunately this bogus account is being picked up by additional media outlets. We stand behind our client and want to set the record straight that this did not happen.”

“Joe Jonas is booed, has balls pelted at his face, during ‘See No More’ performance in Williamsburg,” reads the headline of a piece in the New York Daily News.

According to the newspaper, “The middle Jonas brother got a rough reception in Brooklyn’s hipster capital on Wednesday night when audience members at the Paper magazine party pelted him with mini-basketballs and greeted his performance with a mixture of derision and stony silence.”

The tab goes on to say that Jonas’ performance of songs from his first solo album, “Fast Life,” at the House of Vans, was “a nightmare.”

“The booing and jeering began as soon as the Disney TV star and his four backup singers took to the stage,” writes the News.

“Audience members were even targeting Jonas with green Nerf-style mini-basketballs that Corona beer, one of the night’s sponsors, had handed out to partygoers,” says the newspaper.

In fact, the News says it witnessed two guys “peg Jonas in the face with their balls.”

Jonas, claims the paper, was “deflated by the time he and the backup singers wrapped up” his set with a performance of “See No More,” the tune he co-wrote with Chris Brown.

But is that really an accurate portrayal of the evening?

Reviews of the show did not mention any booing.

And Paper magazine’s Executive Editor, Alexis Swerdloff, tells GossipCop, “As someone who was standing in the middle of the crowd during the entire performance, I can say that yes, there were a few balls thrown onto the stage — but they were promotional balls that were being thrown around all night — and that Joe was hardly met with stony silence!”

Contrary to the account of Jonas being met with “derision,” Swerdloff says, “Rabid fans lined up around the block hours before the performance and were screaming throughout.”

Wait, is that the sound of Jonas fans booing the New York Daily News?

There was unexpected drama at last night’s BET Awards, when contest-winning fan Tiffany Green mistakenly announced the wrong recipient of the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award.

Green seemed poised during her own introduction, but a weird sequence happened as soon as it was time to declare the category’s winner.

“And the winner is… Chris Brown… I’m sorry, Rihanna,” corrected Green, looking confused.

As the audience groaned, Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” collaborator Drake came up to accept the honor for her, joking, “Well, this is awkward!”

Except it sounds as though Green wasn’t the one who made a mistake after all.

“Bawling backstage. They totally f**ked me up,” tweeted Green moments after the incident.

She claims the tablet she held did reveal “Chris Brown” to be the winner, while the teleprompter read “Rihanna.”

That would explain her on-stage reaction.

And at the end of the night, Brown was ultimately awarded the honor.

“That BET Awards Viewer’s Choice [sic] mix-up was due to human error,” the network’s Stephen G. Hill explained on Twitter. “And I was the human that made that error. I apologize to ALL affected.”

Chris Brown‘s personal life has been tumultuous, but when he’s on stage he’s definitely in his element.

At tonight’s BET Awards in Los Angeles, the singer performed a medley of “She Ain’t You” and bits of “Look at Me Now” and “Paper, Scissors, Rock,” complete with an eye-grabbing oversized suit and an appearance from Busta Rhymes.

As usual, Brown put on quite a show.
