Charlie Sheen’s recent holiday vacation with ex-wife Denise Richards has raised a few eyebrows.

The former couple took their two daughters, 7-year-old Sam and 6-year-old Lola, as well as Richards’ adopted baby Eloise, to a tropical resort for several days of fun in the sand and surf.

Now the Chicago Sun-Times reports that “friends are saying they think Charlie and Denise may remarry.”

“She’s the only girl who can deal with Charlie and who has come close to handling him — as much as anyone can handle Charlie,” a supposed Richards pal told the paper.

There’s just one small problem.

While it’s clear the stars are on good terms after Sheen’s tumultuous year, and they seemed to have had a nice trip together, they are NOT seeing each other romantically.

When asked on Twitter if she and Sheen were “back together,” Richards point-blank replied, “No, ” adding the trip was simply “family time.”

A source also tells Gossip Cop there’s “no chance” they would ever remarry.

Picking up a rumor from the Chicago Sun-Times, the British tab reports Lopez even wants to “get rid of her stunning $4m (£2.5m) engagement ring in a bid to make a fresh start.”

Also supposedly on Lopez’s ditch list is all the clothing Anthony bought for her over the course of their relationship.

“When Jennifer moves on, she totally moves on,” says a so-called “source.”

So when’s the big sale taking place?

How about a week from… NEVER.

A rep for Lopez tells Gossip Cop the papers’ claims are totally “inaccurate.”

Bernie Mac

Rhonda McCullough, Mac’s wife of more than 30 years, claims his longtime dermatologist failed to recognize the star was in respiratory failure, and didn’t send him from a clinic to a hospital in a timely fashion, sparking a chain of events that ultimately led to his death a few weeks later.

Mac died at 50 years old due to complications from pneumonia. He was also a longtime sufferer of sarcoidosis, a lung disease.

Dr. Rene M. Earles, who treated Mac for lesions developed due to the sarcoidosis, acknowledged in a Chicago Sun-Times interview that Mac seemed sick when he came to the clinic, but he didn’t send the comedian to the hospital until consulting with a doctor Mac had seen earlier that day.

Earles, who is being sued for at least $50,000, thought he took sufficient care of Mac.

“He didn’t die the next day, he didn’t die in two days,” he explains. “He died in two weeks and he got over his original strain of pneumonia. He got another strain of pneumonia while he was in the hospital.”

“It was entirely devastating,” Earles said. “Look, Bernie was my patient. Bernie was my friend. We became extremely close — we were like brothers.”

“Is Megan Fox Still Hung Up on Shia LaBeouf?” asks a recent post by Celebuzz.

The site, picking up a rumor originally floated by the Chicago Sun-Times, writes, “Megan Fox’s lips might have said ‘I do’” when she married Brian Austin Green last month, but “her mind is still thinking ‘I would’ when it comes to her former Transformers co-star Shia LaBeouf.”

A so-called “pal of Fox’s” claims the actress “never got over” LaBeouf and “Brian has always been her second choice.”

Seriously?

Fox, who recently gushed to the media about how deeply in love she is with Green, is “hung up” on a rumored fling?

If it sounds ridiculous, that’s because it is.

A source close to Fox tells Gossip Cop it’s completely untrue, and “she’s happily married to the guy of her dreams.”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Jay Leno “wasn’t laughing Sunday while watching [Conan] O’Brien’s much-hyped interview with Steve Croft on ‘60 Minutes.’ In fact, he was spewing curse words.”

The paper goes on to say, “As he watched ‘60 Minutes,’ Leno yelled a slew of expletives at the TV screen.”

Really?

Slight problem: When the interview was airing, Leno was nowhere near a TV. He was onstage performing at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California.

Interestingly, the Chicago Sun-Times didn’t mention in its article where Leno allegedly watched the interview and with whom.

There’s good reason, because the newspaper had no idea.

But Gossip Cop does. 

A source close to Leno tells us the “Tonight Show” host actually recorded the interview, but watched it by himself at home. 

Bet there’s a editor at the Sun-Times cursing just about… now.

“Despite big pitches, allegedly from producers for Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters and Larry King, Sandra Bullock supposedly is currently planning on first discussing her marriage challenges — thanks to cheatin’ hubby Jesse James – on good buddy George Lopez‘s talk show,” reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Sun-Times says the interview will take place in November when ”Lopez Tonight” moves into its midnight slot, following the new Conan O’Brien show.

So why does the paper state Bullock will sit down and dish with Lopez?

“Friendship pays off,” writes the Sun-Times, noting how Lopez has been in close contact with his dear friend Bullock, who exec produced his ABC sitcom, “George Lopez.”

Similar reports have popped up elsewhere making the same claim.

And none of them is inaccurate.

A rep for Bullock tells Gossip Cop, “There are no plans for her to be on the show,” adding, “Nothing has even been discussed.”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, ex-spouses Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon may be getting “back together.”

Phillippe, who recently got out of a long relationship with Abbie Cornish, and Witherspoon, who split from Jake Gyllenhaal in December and is currently dating agent Jim Toth, divorced in 2008.

But now that Phillippe is single again, “the former couple are looking mighty cozy these days,” so-called “pals” tell the Sun-Times. 

What’s more, the friends “think there’s a good chance they could reunite.”

So, is there really “a good chance” Phillippe and Witherspoon, who have two children together, could “reunite”?

NO.

A rep for Witherspoon says the rumor is “untrue.”

Is Tiger Woods‘ profitable pairing with the Swoosh going poof?

This morning The Chicago Sun-Times announces “there’s word [Nike] is rethinking its relationship with the scandalized golf superstar after Accenture dumped him and Gillette and Gatorade backed away.”

Gossip Cop isn’t sure where this “word” comes from, because Nike’s actual words appear to support Woods. After Woods announced his leave from professional golf, the sporting goods giant said of its pitchman, “He and his family have Nike’s full support.” It was a notably different message than the ones sent by Gatorade (which is dropping its Tiger Focus drink) and Gillete (which is “limiting” Woods’ participation in their marketing programs).

The tawdry Tiger scandal has not yet reached its end, of course, and as details emerge, corporate relationships may change. But as of now, there’s no reason to think Woods’ most famous sponsor has decided to follow a different course than the one set over the weekend.

As you probably know, the charges against 22-year-old Samanth Tumpach have been dropped for illegally videotaping “New Moon” at the Muvico Theater in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont.

She was charged with a felony, and could have faced up to three years behind bars.

Tumpach admitted that two snippets of film were caught on her camera, but said she wasn’t intentionally recording “New Moon.” Instead, she was filming her sister’s birthday.

Even director Chris Weitz was in her corner. He told the Chicago Sun-Times, “There is, needless to say, a difference between trying to protect copyright of a film and making an unfair example of someone who clearly seems not to have any intentions towards video piracy.”

Well now Summit has weighed in, too, and released the following statement:

“In regards to the situation with Samantha Tumpach, we applaud Muvico for upholding the zero tolerance policy on piracy when the incident occurred at their theater in Rosemont, IL. The pirating of films is a very serious issue and we all need to remain vigilant to protect the art of film and the myriad of businesses that the film industry supports. We believe that the attention that this incident has drawn, has served as a reminder to us all that any form of film piracy, or perceived piracy, will be treated with the utmost seriousness. Summit is pleased that all charges against Ms. Tumpach have been dropped and appreciate the efforts of the police and the prosecutors in this outcome.”

According to a piece in the Chicago Sun-Times titled, “Don’t get Fergie started,” things “got a little testy backstage at ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend when [musical guest] Fergie spied a couple of copies of People magazine — featuring the cover story about her hubby Josh Duhamel‘s alleged fling with that stripper.”

The paper goes on to report that Fergie, who performed with her band the Black Eyed Peas, threw “a mini-hissy fit,” and that she ”was in a big funk” because of lingering allegations that her husband was unfaithful.

Really?

No.

First, if you’ve been to SNL, like Gossip Cop has on more than a dozen occasions, you would know that backstage isn’t a place where copies of magazines just sit around. Everything is essentially streamlined for the sets to be moved on stage, props to be put in their proper place, and cast members to change quickly.

Second, why would old copies of People be sitting around? The Fergie-Duhamel cover story is two weeks old. (This week’s People features children who have “Vanished Without a Trace.”)

Notwithstanding, Gossip Cop checked with an SNL source, who said the Chicago Sun-Times’ story was completely made up.

And a rep for the show added, “Not true at all.”

“Even though Josh Duhamel has denied the National Enquirer story he had a fling with a stripper,” writes Chicago Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker, “I’ve learned wife Fergie doesn’t believe him.”

The columnist reports that the couple had ”a very intense and heated” conversation about the alleged infidelity, and that Duhamel is now “definitely in the doghouse,” according to a source.

Covering all bases, the Sun-Times gossiper adds, ”But Fergie’s hanging in there — at least for the time being.”

At the time the story came out, Duhamel’s side called the allegations “absolutely ridiculous.” And they still are, which is why there aren’t any problems between the “Transformers” star and Fergie. In fact, as Gossip Cop is writing this, the two are together in Atlanta, where Duhamel is filming “Life As We Know It” with Katherine Heigl.

Chicago Sun-Times’ columnist Bill Zwecker writes, “There’s lots of gossip from the set of ”Gossip Girl,” including updates on the romance between Blake Lively and Penn Badgley.” “According to a close Lively pal,” reports Zwecker, “the couple are expected to announce their engagement soon, though likely not this weekend, as some speculated — given Sunday is Badgley’s 23rd birthday.”

Although he claims the engagement announcement will be “soon,” Zwecker buys his guesswork some more time by conveniently having a supposed source say that it could “happen over the holidays.”

So we still have a couple of months to buy an engagement gift?

Actually, NO rush at all.

“I don’t know where Bill Zwecker is getting this because it’s absolutely ridiculous,” slams back a rep for both Lively and Badgley, adding incredulously, “I thought this was the [respected] Chicago Sun-Times.”

Guess the Times are a changing.

Gossip Cop is going to end up with a bald spot, thanks to the number of times we scratch our head over Perez Hilton items.

The latest story to remove precious strands from our noggin reads, “Sources are saying that while 50 Cent was filming his new video for Baby By Me, he was getting a little friendly with a former Child – Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland!” Perez continues: “We hear things got pretty ‘steamy’ on set of the video and that it may have led to a ‘bit of a fling.’”

Hmm…

We kept wondering why that sounded so familiar, and then it dawn on us after we clicked on Perez’s link to the word “sources” – it’s because his “sources” was actually the same Chicago Sun-Times item that we busted 12 hours earlier.

At the time that Gossip Cop investigated the rumor, a source close to Fiddy assured us that talk of a “fling” between the rapper and Rowland wasn’t true. And 12 hours later – it’s still not true.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, “While Miley Cyrus seems very smitten with Liam Hemsworth, her new beau and co-star in the upcoming ‘The Last Song,’ word has it her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, has concerns.”

The paper claims that a source close to the “Hannah Montana” star says that an “all-controlling” Billy Ray feels the two teens are “going too far, too fast,” and that this “is causing a lot of conflict in the family.”

And while a number of other sites also reported this as fact, it is actually fiction. A rep for both Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus tells Gossip Cop, “There’s no truth to this one.”

Even the venerable Chicago Sun-Times has moments of “embarrassment.”

Today, the newspaper reported that “the real reason Lindsay Lohan is so upset about the theft of the safe from her L.A. house is the contents included some very incriminating videos and photos, plus legal documents, that LiLo believes could cause embarrassment if made public.”

Well, that tale out of the Windy City is full of hot air. For one, a source close to Lohan tells Gossip Cop there were “no tapes reported missing,” and that her whole life has already been openly exposed – for better or worse—so there’s not a lot to be embarrassed about.

And also, if there were “incriminating” videos, the actress would be freaked out. But the insider swears, “she hasn’t mentioned any tapes, and she’s not panicking.”

Gossip Cop was shocked even more than Julius and Ethel Rosenberg when we saw that venerable Chicago Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker repeated a made up story even after Gossip Cop had already corrected it.

The offense in question was a piece in which Zwecker included a few fabricated quotes about Jennifer Lopez’s birthday party. Zwecker noted, “People like Gayle King, Beyonce, Rihanna or Madonna aren’t used to having their cell phones or Blackberrys confiscated at the door.” Well, as Gossip Cop had already set the record straight, Beyonce, Rihanna and Madonna weren’t even at the bash! Madonna’s rep joked, “Would she have even been invited to a Jennifer Lopez party in the first place?” She added that at the time of the party, “Madonna was in Spain – as was her phone.”
