Charlie Sheen was just charged with one count of felony menacing and two misdemeanors; one for assault, the other for criminal mischief.

The judge loosened the restrictions of the protective order, enabling Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller to once again be in contact. 

Sheen, however, is still not allowed to drink alcohol or possess firearms.

The couple is due back in court on March 15.

Sheen’s charges stem from the Christmas Day incident in which he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife, resulting in his arrest.

Authorities will charge Charlie Sheen with felony menacing after a Christmas Day incident with wife Brooke Mueller landed the star in jail, according to reports. He will also face a misdemeanor assault charge, law enforcement sources have told TMZ.

The site claims the criminal complaint will be filed tomorrow or early Monday.

Sheen is set to appear in court on Monday for an arraignment but may not enter a plea.

Despite the whole 911 call, the alleging Charlie Sheen threatened to kill her with a knife, and the actor being arrested because of it, Brooke Mueller and the “Two and a Half Men” star are looking to reconcile.

You read that right.

Mueller’s attorney Yale Galanter says the two remain “very much in love” and “want to try to work it out.” Sheen’s lawyer, Richard Cummins, also noted the couple wants to reconcile.

UPDATE 9:45PM:

An arrest warrant affidavit released today reveals that Brooke Mueller told Aspen police Charlie Sheen put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her after she said she wanted a divorce.

“You better be in fear,” the documents quote Sheen as telling her. “If you tell anybody, I’ll kill you.”

The affidavit also says Sheen denied making threats.

While speculation grows as to exactly what went down between Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day, don’t expect anything (legally) to happen before February.

Sheen is expected in court on February 8, and there won’t be word – until shortly before then – as to whether prosecutors decide to charge the “Two and a Half Men” star for alleged domestic violence.

Sheen was arrested on suspicion of menacing, second-degree assault and criminal mischief. Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin said today that the menacing charge — a result of the alleged threat with a weapon — can result in a two to eight years prison sentence and a fine of anywhere between $2,000 and $500,000.

And even though the court appearance wouldn’t be until six weeks from now, Gossip Cop is feeling fairly certain we’ll be hearing plenty more about this in the intervening period.
