Bruce Springsteen has opened up after the death of Clarence Clemons, his music partner for nearly 40 years.

Clemons passed away last night at 69, due to complications from a stroke he suffered six days earlier.

Springsteen said in a statement about the E Street Band saxophonist: “Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage.”

The Boss added, “His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly forty years. He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band.”

Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist at the heart of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, has died.

The musician suffered a stroke on June 12. Initial signs were good for a recovery after he had two brain surgeries, but his condition later turned for the worse.

Clemons was 69.

In addition to his decades-long association with Springsteen, Clemons was a contributor on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way album and performed with her during last month’s “American Idol” finale.

Lady Gaga rallied her Little Monsters, and with their help sent her ailing collaborator Clarence Clemons a remarkable YouTube montage of “Get Well” messages.

The legendary saxophonist suffered a stroke over the weekend.

Even though he’s primarily known as Bruce Springsteen‘s band mate, Clemons’ contribution to Gaga’s new album has endeared him to an enormous, young fan base, and it’s pretty cool to see the outpouring of support.

Its severity and his current condition have not been disclosed.

In addition to his decades-long association with Springsteen, Clemons was a contributor on Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way album and performed with her during last month’s “American Idol” finale.

Clemons was due to play the national anthem before Game 2 of the NBA Finals last week before a hand injury, the most recent in a litany of ailments, forced him to cancel.

Rolling Stone confirmed news of the stroke.

For anyone who has dreamed of seeing Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young sing Willow Smith‘s “Whip My Hair,” last night’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” hit the spot.

The two music legends — well, Springsteen along with Fallon dressed as Young — performed the hit song just as they would have in an earthy 1970s duet.

It’s slightly different than Smith’s version.

U2 is on top again.

From June 2009 to June 2010, the Irish rock group earned an astounding $130 million, according to Forbes.

Next up was the Aussie heavy metal band, AC/DC. The band shook it all night long to the tune of $114 million.

Rounding out the Top Three was Beyonce, who brought home $87 million. Husband Jay-Z was number six on the list, having amassed $63 million. (The couple collectively earned $150 million last year – not to shabby.)

The rest of the Top Ten were Bruce Springsteen ($70 million), Britney Spears ($64 million), Lady Gaga ($62 million), Madonna ($58 million), Kenny Chesney ($50 million) and the Black Eyed Peas, who tied with Coldplay and Toby Keith ($48 million each).

TMZ has laid an egg this Easter with its breathless story titled, “Bruce Springsteen Allegedly Joins Tiger Club.”

According to the generally timely site, “Not even The Boss, it would seem, is immune from the infidelity epidemic going around – allegedly.”

Citing a New York Post cover story today about an alleged affair between Springsteen and a New Jersey woman, TMZ reports that in court papers “filed by her soon-to-be ex-husband, Ann Kelly and Bruce met a gym in New Jersey in 2005, when Bruce allegedly dogged her as she ran on the treadmill.”

Wait, doesn’t this sound familiar?

It should.

This tale of Springsteen allegedly cheating on wife Patti Scialfa is old news. In fact, the New York Post itself wrote about the infidelity allegations a year ago.

Today, however, TMZ took the paper’s additional information as an opportunity to drag Springsteen into the sort of scandals in which Tiger Woods and others are embroiled.

For the record, and what’s very much missing in the TMZ piece is that, when whispers emerged years ago about Springsteen and Kelly, the singer called the rumors “unfounded.”

Additionally, what TMZ didn’t note in this piece – because the site is more than a year behind – is that Kelly also said her estranged husband’s claims are “false,” and that there was a motivation behind them.

Kelly told the New York Post a year ago that her soon-to-be-ex “told me he filed those accusations of adultery because… I filed [a restraining order] against him for alleged violence. He told me he was concerned I would have the ‘upper hand’ in court, so he did something he thought would to [sic] even the scales.”

Unfortunately for TMZ, this “Tunnel of Love” story leads nowhere.

The all-star “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon raised a record-setting $57 million — and that figure is still rising.

The two-hour telethon, which aired on every network and dozens upon dozen of other stations, drew the biggest names in showbiz to help the island nation, where an estimated 200,000 people died as a result of the January 12 earthquake.

The event was hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and featured poignant reports from Anderson Cooper in Haiti.

Among those manning the phones or giving presentations were Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Bill Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Degeneres, and Matt Damon, to name a very few.

The fundraiser had several amazing performances by such artists including, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Shakira.

The money raised was a record, and yet it still doesn’t include donations from corporations or the performed songs that one can download from iTunes for 99 cents.

“Hope for Haiti” airs later tonight, and the array of stars signed up to help the island nation devastated by an earthquake is growing by the hour.

The two-hour telethon, which will air on every major network and dozens upon dozens of other stations across the U.S. and around the world, is being hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and Anderson Cooper from Haiti.

So who will you see tonight?

According to Taylor Lautner’s rep, the “New Moon” heartthrob will not be participating in the “Hope for Haiti” telethon.

But something that should be music to your ears is the long list of musicians who will be performing during the two-hour fundraiser, which is being aired on every major network and numerous other cable outfits.

In New York, where Haiti native Wyclef Jean will host the show, there will be performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Sting, and Jean himself.

Co-host George Clooney will be in Los Angeles, where Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Justin Timberlake are slated to perform.

And Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Coldplay will hit the stage in London, where Robert Pattinson will lend a helping hand as well.

The music will be available, beginning Saturday, on iTunes and all the proceeds will go to the charities benefiting from the telethon, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam, Partners in Health, and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation.

Additionally, the event will feature dozens and dozens of big stars manning the phones, and Anderson Coooper reporting from Haiti.

On Friday night, Bruce Springsteen welcomed everyone at his concert with a big “Hello, Ohio.” And throughout the evening he gave shout outs to “Ohio.” The one slight problem was, Springsteen and the E Street Band were in… Michigan.

The Boss repeatedly referred to “Ohio” throughout the band’s performance at the Auburn Hills Palace until guitarist Steve Van Zandt finally whispered the actual locale in his ear.

Oops.

A very embarrassed Springsteen smiled, and told the audience that what he had done was “every front man’s nightmare.”

Nevertheless, those assembled loved the nearly three hour concert, which featured all the hits from the album, “Born to Run.”
