The office of the Los Angeles County Coroner has released a report showing which drugs were in Brittany Murphy’s system when the actress died. According to the report, “Multiple medications were present in the blood, with elevated levels of hydrocodone, acetaminophen, and chlorpheniramine. L-methamphetamine was also present.” Also, 24 empty prescription bottles – for a variety of ailments and conditions – were found at the scene.

According to the L.A. County Coroner, Brittany Murphy’s cause of death has been determined.

It was caused by community acquired pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication.

According to the coroner’s office, the death occurred as a result of drug intake, but was an “accident.” See what the L.A. Coroner’s Assistant Chief told Gossip Cop about her death.

The death certificate for Brittany Murphy has just been filed.

The document lists manner of death as “pending investigation,” and the immediate cause of death is labeled “deferred.”

Brittany Murphy will be laid to rest later today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
The small, private funeral is by invitation only, and there will be a load of security to keep crashers and journalists at bay. However, we’re sure some reporters who aren’t invited will somehow be there.

UPDATE — 6:54PM: According to the L.A. Coroner’s office, the autopsy was completed today — as it was scheduled to be — and there were no signs of trauma or foul play. The cause of death, as previously noted, will hinge on the results of the neuropathology, histopathology and, most importantly, toxicology tests, which will become public in around 6 or so weeks.
