Could Dumb and Dumber 2 be on the way?

A sequel to the 1994 Jim Carrey-Jeff Daniels comedy classic — with the original stars — appears to be very much in development.

Rumors of idiot pals Harry and Lloyd’s return to the big screen (not counting faux 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer) have been swirling for some time, but over the weekend co-director Peter Farrelly revealed that a sequel might finally happen.

Jesse Farrelly, the son of Hollywood director Bobby Farrelly, has died.

Emergency workers responded to a call regarding an “unresponsive young male… possible overdose” in Costa Mesa, California on Wednesday, reports TMZ.

Farrelly was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
