Miley Cyrus debuted the music video for her Bob Dylan cover, “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go,” on Monday.

The singer covered the track for Amnesty International‘s Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan, a compilation of new cover versions of the music icon’s vast catalog.

My Morning Jacket, Sinead O’Connor and Adele also recorded songs for the effort, which marks Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary.

This morning, Amnesty International began streaming Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan, a compilation of new cover versions of the music icon’s vast catalog.

Artists ranging from My Morning Jacket to Sinead O’Connor and Adele are part of the effort, which marks Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary.

Among the tracks are Miley Cyrus doing “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” and Ke$ha‘s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”

Art critics savaged Bob Dylan over the weekend for his approximately 40 acrylic paintings and eight drawings on exhibition at the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen.

The legendary singer, who created the works of art between 2009-2010 was criticized heavily in a number of Denmark’s papers for his “The Brazil Series.”

The daily Berlingske Tidende, for instance, wrote: “When we talk about music, Bob Dylan is one of the great Picassos of the 20th century, but this is not the case for his painting.”

Art history professor Peter Brix Soendergaard told another daily paper, Information, ”Bob Dylan paints like any other amateur, using a rather oafish figurative style.”

The Danish weekly, Weekendavisen, defended Dylan’s work – sort of – stating that he’s ”not a great painter,” but noted his work “is interesting because he is not pretentious and he has an eye for drama.”

Nevertheless, Karsten Ohrt, the head of the museum, which Denmark’s largest, said: “We think that Dylan is a quality painter and he attracts a lot of interest among Danish painters and art collectors.”

Dylan’s “The Brazil Series” runs until January 30.

President Obama has invited performers including Bob Dylan and Natalie Cole to the White House next month for a concert commemorating the music of the civil rights movement.

The program, to be hosted by Morgan Freeman and Queen Latifah, takes place on February 10 and will also feature Jennifer Hudson, Seal, Smokey Robinson, John Legend and John Mellencamp. It will be broadcast on February 11.

Readings from civil rights speeches will also be part of the evening.

It was another wild week in Hollywood! Let’s take a look:

THE GOOD

The two biggest stars in the “Twilight” constellation will be coming to screens near you in new roles. Gossip Cop confirmed that Robert Pattinson will STILL – contrary to Internet whispers – be involved in the upcoming “Bel Ami” (although not in another rumored role), and Kristen Stewart will be tapped by director James Woods for the lead in “An American Girl,” with her camp giving Gossip Cop exclusive confirmation and comments.

And while some mags had to settle for making nasty claims about Stewart, Interview actually got to speak with her, and we showed some behind-the-scenes video from her cover photo shoot.

We also confirmed that producers are planning to arrange a special United Kingdom fan event with cast members for “New Moon” before the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles. We hope to have new details as soon as possible.

THE BAD

This spot isn’t necessarily reserved for Perez Hilton, but “Scoop” managed this week to be wrong about casting, sexuality, philanthropy, and pregnancy. He hit for the cycle!

Hilton first demonstrated his talent for publishing anything that hits his inbox without checking the facts when he ran with a story about Lindsay Lohan signing on to “Celebrity Big Brother.” (Yeah, she’s not.)

Then he blasted Bob Dylan as a “sell-out” for pairing with a bank on his upcoming Christmas album, even scrawling “I [heart] $$$” on his picture. Um, Perez? Every single penny is going to charity. Oops.

What about Derek Hough? “Hold onto your skirt there, hun!” snipes Perez, who tauntingly asks, “Is it dark in that closet of yours, Derek?” According to the blogger, the Dancing with the Stars performer is a “gayface.” Not surprisingly, Perez provides . . . zero evidence. Once again, Perez can’t get his facts straight – like Hough. 

Finally, Journalism’s Joker made Mariah Carey pregnant. Battling medical science and his own track record in this area, Perez examined a photo of Carey performing and decided that she’s with child. And . . . she’s not. Gossip Cop can’t wait until Doc Hilton reports pregnancies for Betty White and Cloris Leachman next week!

THE UGLY

The week’s most stunning story was David Letterman‘s “sextortion” drama. While everyone scrambled to make heads or tails of the shocker, Gossip Cop remembered a weird personal moment from the Emmys four years ago - when we stumbled upon and interviewed both Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt, the woman now at the center of the scandal. They did seem to have a particular closeness.

While “reporting” a story about Bob Dylan releasing a Christmas album next month called “Christmas In The Heart,” Perez Hilton somehow or another completely missed the point.

“Scoop” Hilton, who scrawled dollar signs on a picture of the singing legend, titled his latest misfire, “Bob Dylan, A Sell-Out? Yup!,” and editorialized, “He’s certainly more corporate than the olden days!”

The reason for Perez’s capitalist complaint?

“There is a major corporate tie in to the album … from a bank!” he writes.

The problem again for “Scoop” is that he just cuts and pastes press releases without fully reading them.

In fact, if he did, he would have realized that far from being a money grubbing sellout, Dylan is generously DONATING EVERY SINGLE PENNY from the upcoming album to Feeding America, an organization that, thanks to the recording, provides more than four million meals during the holidays. Dylan is also DONATING ALL FUTURE U.S. ROYALTIES from the album to Feeding America “in perpetuity.” Oh, and the charitable crooner is also partnering with two international charities to provide meals overseas using royalties from all non-U.S. sales. Says Dylan, “I join the good people of Feeding America in the hope that our efforts can bring some food security to people in need during this holiday season.”

Just to recap: The guy who Perez defaced with “I [heart] $$$” is actually donating millions of meals to charity this Christmas.

Hilton ends with, “Times they are a-changin,’ huh Bob?”

Maybe it’s time for some changes, Perez.

This past week started off with a smattering of poorly reported Perez Hilton pieces. We learned that Perez doesn’t just turn a blind eye to fact checking, apparently he has one, too. He actually compared handsome “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson to the blue creature from “Avatar.”

This week also marked the second anniversary of Perez’s “scoop” that Fidel Castro had died – he was, and continues to be, dead wrong. And we also pointed how Perez got it wrong both when he initially reported that Beyonce was being sued by a reality star, and how George Clooney broke his hand.

And while we’ve grown accustomed to Perez’s inaccuracies, we were a bit surprised by how legitimate news agencies like CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post dropped the ball this week.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman was asked about the possibility of Alec Baldwin running against him for his senate seat. The major media picked up on Lieberman’s “make my day” response, but it took Gossip Cop to alert the other news agencies that Baldwin’s non-serious challenge to Lieberman was, in fact, an old comment the “30 Rock” star made to Playboy, and one in which he also said he had no plans whatsoever to leave New York.

But it wasn’t just CNN. The venerable Chicago Tribune posted a video on its website of a man, bearing a resemblance to Michael Jackson, jumping out of an L.A. Coroner’s van, and posed the question whether the King of Pop was indeed possibly still alive.

And the New York Times, Washington Post and the BBC were among those who were completely misguided when reporting that Bob Dylan might voice GPS directions after the the “Jokerman” singer joked on his radio show that he was approached by auto manufacturers. Who’s laughing now? (Gossip Cop.)

In “Twilight Tales,” a story brewed that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart strolled through Vancouver to go out for coffee together. Gossip Cop filtered the fact out from the fiction. We also broke details about a second hard cover bookazine that Us Weekly is preparing about the Twilight Saga and its stars, slated to hit bookshelves around the time of the release of “New Moon” in November. And we’ve been all over the controversy of whether the Twilight Saga will be told in four or five films.

And once again stories surfaced that Pattinson and Stewart were moving in together. This time the yarn that was spun had Stewart buying a $3 million “love nest” in L.A. for them. Not true.

Miss Information: This week while it was true that Madonna was booed in Romania for speaking her mind about the treatment of that nation’s Gypsies, it was totally false that she’s training for a six-day, 151-mile marathon through the Sahara desert.

Katie Holmes was again the subject of several inaccurate stories. The tabs wrongly reported that she’s happier when she’s away from Tom Cruise, whom they also claimed controls her diet and career choices. There was also a tale that she’s designing “uniforms” for the Church of Scientology – it’s uniformly not true.

And with Lindsay Lohan’s burglarized home came a slew of stories claiming she had “incriminating videos” and more than $2 million in borrowed jewels stolen from her safe. Her rep told Gossip Cop than neither rumor was accurate. Another Lohan story, not based in reality, had her looking to star in a reality series about her own “trials and tribulations” finding work as an actress. Gossip Cop found no truth to that either.

Wrong Romance: The rumor linking Jennifer Aniston to Gerard Butler returned for another round – and it’s still false. Stories that “Phantom of the Opera” star Emmy Rossum is making beautiful music with Counting Crows lead Adam Duritz are also way off key. And the New York Post struck out in a piece about Yankees captain Derek Jeter being engaged to “Friday Night Lights “ star Minka Kelly.

Casting Corrections: Hundreds of outlets reported that Robin Williams, who starred in “Mrs. Doubtfire,” was asked to play “Britain’s Got Talent” standout Susan Boyle. (That’s like mistaking us for rumor cop.) Gossip Cop was the first to dispel that cross-dressing rumor. We also were ahead of the pack to report that Megan Fox is NOT signed to star as Catwoman.  And the story that Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg are doing a musical together also went up in smoke, thanks to Gossip Cop.

Miscellaneous Mistakes: Gossip Cop debunked the rumor that Gwyneth Paltrow told her husband Chris Martin that he should go solo from Coldplay; that Britney Spears is “pining” for paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, against whom there’s a restraining order; that Leonardo DiCaprio was told by the producers of his film “The Inception” to drop 30 pounds; that Hilary Duff refused to leave her trailer on the set of “Gossip Girl;” and that Miley Cyrus was offered more than $1 million to do a Guess jeans ad.

And – pat on our back – the British tabloid The Express had to eat crow after Gossip Cop corrected its fabricated story about Russell Crowe causing a fight in a pub outside of London. It never happened, and after Gossip Cop called them out, the paper issued Crowe a public apology.

Both sides of the Atlantic have been beeping loudly ever since Bob Dylan said on his radio show, “Theme Time Radio Hour,” that he’s in negotiations with car companies to lend his voice to their satellite navigation systems. The “Highway 61 Revisted” singer told listeners that he had spoken with auto manufacturers, and that he would warble directions like, “Left at the next street. No, right. You know what? Just go straight.” Dylan then said, “I probably shouldn’t do it because whichever way I go, I always end up at one place – on Lonely Avenue.”

Legitimate news organizations like the New York Times, the BBC and Washington Post picked up the story and caused a massive amount of Internet traffic, reporting this as fact. But should they have?

No. A source close to Dylan told Gossip Cop “this was a joke” by the “Jokerman” singer. Seriously, people. Listen to the audio.

What’s worse, the clip that news agencies clamored over is actually old news – from December 2008. The “recent broadcast” that sparked the GPS gossip was just a repeat.

Gossip Cop is laughing over how a simple joke got the media so lost.
