During a “Reality Show Roundup” segment on “The View” Thursday, Barbara Walters made a big confession.

She thinks “The Bachelor” is “stupid.”

“I finally saw this show. It’s an ABC show. They may fire me,” Walters began after watching a clip from Monday’s “Bachelor,” where Ben Flajnik had a very awkward make-out session.

She continued, “It’s a stupid show. All these gorgeous women are going after this guy who – well, I’m gonna say it – is less than gorgeous.”

“All these women are mad about him,” Walters pointed out, asking “What am I missing?”

Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg answered, “You’re missing the fact that these women are just as creepy as the guy is.”

Barbara Walters took to the airwaves Monday morning to slam reports claiming she’s in a “bidding war” with Oprah Winfrey for an exclusive interview with Pippa Middleton.

The rumor, which started in the Mirror and was picked up by outlets like the New York Post and The Daily Beast, claims the “rival chat show heavyweights” are “‘pulling out all the stops’ to secure her as a guest for an hour-long special.”

The Mirror goes on to allege Walters “is pushing bosses to offer a six-figure deal for the chat” with Middleton, who is releasing a party-planning book later this year.

On “The View,” Walters said the reports are completely fabricated.

“It’s not true,” the veteran journalist said. “ABC News does not pay for interviews.”

She added, “To make it clear: Would I like to do the interview? Yes. I think she’s a charming, beautiful girl. Will I pay to do the interview? No.”

After nearly six years, Star Jones is returning to “The View.”

The former co-host will make a guest appearance on February 22 for the first time since leaving the show amid tumult in June 2006.

She and Barbara Walters will discuss open heart surgery, a procedure both women have undergone.

Back in 2006, the two personalities had a major falling out when Jones sprung a surprise departure announcement on the panel after a contract dispute with ABC.

At the time Jones left “The View,” she had experienced dramatic weight loss through gastric bypass surgery, but refused to acknowledge that she’d had the procedure.

Walters later wrote in her memoir that Jones had demanded that her co-hosts be dishonest about Jones’ transformation.

The revelation only deepened the rift between the two women – until now.

The “Today Show” celebrated its 60th anniversary on Friday, and brought back decades’ worth of anchors for the occasion.

Onetime hosts including Barbara Walters, Tom Brokaw, Katie Couric and Meredith Vieira joined the current crew of Matt Lauer and Ann Curry to commemorate the television institution.

As part of the event, staffers dressed in 1950s garb gathered in Rockefeller Plaza.

Steve Jobs is Barbara Walters’ “Most Fascinating Person” of 2011

The TV journalist revealed her annual selection Wednesday during her ABC special, “Barbara Walters Presents: The Most Fascinating People.”

Walters explained that it used to be a rule that the top honor went to a living person.

Jobs was originally selected when he announced his retirement from Apple over the summer.

But after his death from pancreatic cancer in October, Walters and her staff decided he still deserved the title.

“It’s unlikely there will ever be anyone like him again,” she said.

Barbara Walters, who named the Kardashian sisters among 2011′s “Most Fascinating People,” now seems a little miffed with the famous family.

Walters revealed on “The Late Show with David Letterman” Tuesday that she interviewed Kim, Kourtney and Khloe earlier in the fall and specifically asked if anything momentous would be happening in the coming months.

The women insisted Walters was safe to do the interview then because nothing was going to change.

“Then Kim gets [divorced]. Then Kourtney gets pregnant. Then Khloe’s moving to Dallas,” Walters exclaimed to Letterman. “You cannot trust the Kardashians.”

Walters echoed her comments Wednesday on “The View,” noting that in hindsight, the only hint of possible trouble to come was the sisters agreeing Kim is the worst at dealing with men.

As Gossip Cop reported, the Kardashians made Barbara Walters‘ list of the “Most Fascinating People of 2011.”

Today, everyone on “The View” screamed at her for it.

Walters was asked to name her choices, and, as soon as she began with “the Kardashian family,” boos rained down from the audience, drowning out Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s query, “Is Kris Humphries in that?”

A confused Joy Behar asked Walters of the Kardashians, “Why are they so fascinating to you?”

Walters’ explanation did not seem to win many converts on the panel.

Among the luminaries to be profiled are Simon Cowell, Derek Jeter, Donald Trump, Katy Perry, Pippa Middleton, “Modern Family” stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, as well as the press-shy Kardashians (Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kris Jenner).

Walters’ “Number One Most Fascinating Person of 2011″ will be revealed on the show.

The 19th annual special will air on December 14.

“The View” is the place to be for controversy this week!

One day after the Bill Maher-Elisabeth Hasselbeck blowup, former porn star Sasha Grey appeared on the show to address the media firestorm over a California school allowing her to read to elementary school children.

After pictures surfaced of Grey reading to kids at Emerson Elementary School in Compton as part of the “Read Across America” program, parents and other commentators expressed outrage that she’d been allowed to participate given her past career.

On Wednesday’s “The View,” Grey answered her “sanctimonious” critics, saying she wanted to devote her time to helping her community, and that her background had no bearing on how she contributes in the classroom.

Needless to say, Barbara Walters and the other panelists offered their own views on the matter.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon introduced their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, to Barbara Walters and the world on Friday.

In the “20/20″ interview, Carey discussed her pregnancy, saying, “I don’t think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body. It’s not just, oh you don’t look pretty and you have a bump.”

She gave birth on April 30.

Now, for the first time, she and Cannon have released a set of photos of their beautiful babies’ first six months.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon‘s interview with Barbara Walters, which features their twins Moroccan and Monroe, airs tonight, and Gossip Cop has a preview of some of what they touched on.

The couple told Walters that while Carey was pregnant they introduced their son and daughter to music by putting a “belly boom box” on her stomach.

“You just put it on your belly and they hear [music] in the speakers from the beginning,” said Carey.

But that’s not all. Carey sang some tunes to the kids as well, including songs by Stevie Wonder as well as her own hits.

Carey admitted she even cried while singing “Hero” to the babies.

“They really respond to music,” noted the singer

Cannon, however, isn’t sure he wants the twins to become performers like their parents.

“I want to make sure we get education first,” said the “America’s Got Talent” host.

He told Walters, “Society puts too much on entertainment and entertainers… They praise them like they’re royalty, especially in America, where it should really be about the teachers or, you know, the doctors.”

“I want them to be able to sing as beautifully as their mother. I want them to be able to play instruments and everything. But I want them like ….’Go get a Ph.D,’” added Cannon.

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell tied the knot in front of 30 guests on Sunday at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall, and Gossip Cop has all the details on the star-studded reception.

The party, which took place at McCartney’s home in North London, began with a champagne toast and was attended by 120 guests, including Ringo Starr, Barbara Walters (Shevell’s second cousin), Kate Moss, iconic ’60′s supermodel Twiggy, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, and Olivia Harrison, the widow of George Harrison.

The groom sang “Let It Be,” “Let Me Roll It,” and a new song he wrote for Shevell. Also, Mark Ronson, a good friend of John Lennon‘s son Sean, manned the deejay booth.

Attendees enjoyed a dinner of goat cheese and chervil polenta, vegetable gyozas, and a mixed greens salad. Dessert included mixed berries with creme fraiche, as well as vegan and chocolate wedding cakes.

McCartney told well-wishers at the bash, “I feel absolutely wonderful.”

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell are married!

The Beatle and his girlfriend, a New York businesswoman, tied the knot at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall in front of 30 guests, including Ringo Starr and Barbara Walters, who’s related to Shevell.

McCartney sported a blue suit, and the bride wore a long-sleeved white gown with a white flower in her hair. Both outfits were designed by the singer’s designer daughter Stella McCartney.

His 7-year-old daughter Beatrice served as a flower girl.

At the non-denominational ceremony, McCartney gave Shevell a 5-carat diamond wedding band.

The newlyweds posed for photos after the wedding, where they were showered with confetti by guests.

“It was terrific,” McCartney told the assembled crowd, jokingly adding that he now felt “married.”

A wedding reception took place afterwards at McCartney’s London home, where there was a vegetarian meal and vegan wedding cake. The groom sang “Let It Be,” “Let Me Roll It,” and a new song to Shevell.

The couple got engaged in May.

McCartney was previously married to the late Linda McCartney and Heather Mills, whom he officially divorced in 2008.

This is Shevell’s second marriage.

Interestingly, McCartney wed on what would have been bandmate John Lennon‘s 71st birthday.

Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg used the N-word on “The View” during a discussion of the controversy surrounding Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

Over the weekend, it was reported that the Texas governor has longtime ties to hunting grounds located on property that’s been referred to quite offensively as “N*ggerhead.”

Things got intense this morning after “The View” panel began talking about Perry’s disputed past and rival candidate Herman Cain‘s response to it.

ABC bleeped out the full term when Goldberg and Walters used it, but the studio audience gasped and Sherri Shepherd told Walters, “I didn’t like the way you said it” (compared to Goldberg’s use of the charged term).

“I’m not sure if it’s a semantics thing, but it’s something that goes through my body… I probably could never explain the way I feel,” said Shepherd.

Lady Gaga, as Gossip Cop reported, co-hosted “The View” today, and her black-and-white houndstooth ensemble (skirt, hat, sunglasses and even note cards) did not disappoint.

The singer sat down with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Barbara Walters to discuss an array of “Hot Topics,” including the passing of Amy Winehouse, Gaga’s drug use, the late Clarence Clemons, health warnings about hot dogs, Tim Gunn‘s remark that Hillary Clinton is confused about her gender, and an Oregon woman who was bounced from a store because she was dressed in a bikini.

About Winehouse, Gaga said, “I’m so devastated, so sad,” and that she could barely speak for the first 48 hours after the singer’s death.

Lady Gaga also noted that the life of a star can be “very lonely,” and shared that she likes to cook. The eccentric star even challenged Behar to a “meatball cook off.”

While Gaga said she no longer does hard drugs, she acknowledged she’s “part of the green club.”

When the topic turned to the health hazards of eating hot dogs, Gaga said, “I do diet — eat really healthful.”

And when everyone discussed Tim Gunn‘s comment that Hillary Clinton seems confused about her gender with all her pantsuits, Gaga chimed in, “He’s being a bully… Hillary Clinton has more important things to worry about than her hemline.”

Lady Gaga will join Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd as a co-host on “The View” on August 1, the show’s executive producer Bill Geddie announced today.

The singer will sit with the other hosts and weigh in during two segments of “Hot Topics.”

Gaga will also perform her song, “You and I.”

Her appearance kicks off the last week of the hit talk show’s 14th season.

Paris Hilton has no love lost for “The View.”

The socialite, whose much-publicized return to reality TV with “The World According to Paris” fell flat in the ratings, was on the morning talk show on Wednesday to plug her comeback.

But Hilton was so upset with the grilling Barbara Walters gave her (including questions about her sincerity in wanting to do charity work, and why she felt the need to complain about community service), the heiress and father Rick Hilton “berated” a producer off-camera for Walters’ tone, according to the New York Post.

A rep for “The View” confirmed the incident.

In the wake of her appearance, Hilton canceled a lunch with Rolling Stone editors, citing illness, before jetting off to Spain.

Elton John is thrilled about the royal wedding but concerned about the intense media scrutiny the newlyweds will face.

As part of the same Barbara Walters interview in which he and David Furnish confirm that Lady Gaga is their baby son’s godmother, John discusses the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton and his joy for the couple.

But he also expresses frustration with the way the notoriously combative British press treats the royals and other public figures.

“The press are going to give you a bumpy ride,” says the music legend. “They’re going to love you, they’re going to hate you. I just hope [William and Middleton] love each other enough to stay away from all that.”

Paparazzi culture was a major presence in the life of the late Princess Diana, William’s mother and John’s close friend.

“You know there’s one thing in the world, if I could get rid of, is that negativity in the British press. That hatefulness, that horrible nastiness that we have pervades our British media.

“I’m sorry we have it but we do. And we have to live [with] it because it’s a great country, but it’s one thing about Britain that sucks.”

Elton John and David Furnish have made Lady Gaga their baby son’s godmother.

The “Born This Way” singer has been given the role in little Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John‘s life because, as John tells Barbara Walters in a new interview, “When you get to the real person under there, there’s a real simple person there who loves her parents.”

It also doesn’t hurt that Gaga is a pop superstar.

“Zachary’s going to inherit an incredible musical legacy from his father one day, and she will be a good person to guide him through the ins and outs of the music business,” said Furnish.

The couple welcomed their son via surrogate last Christmas.

Their interview with Walters was previewed on “Good Morning America.”

According to the National Enquirer, Whoopi Goldberg is “convinced” her days as moderator of “The View” are numbered.

Goldberg has allegedly “racked up” major demerits with boss Barbara Walters for recent “wacky behavior,” such as her tense interactions with guests Bill O’Reilly and Michaele Salahi, as well as blasting the New York Times for leaving her out of a story about black Oscar winners.

“No one has come to Whoopi offering to extend her contract,” explains a so-called “show insider,” who claims that Walters is “definitely tiring of her act” despite the pair’s longtime friendship.

“In a perfect world, Barbara would like to see Elisabeth Hasselbeck replace Whoopi as the show’s leader/moderator,” explains the tabloid’s source, “But you can’t really demote Whoopi without dumping her completely, so…”

Is Goldberg really convinced her contract won’t be renewed?

No.

A rep for “The View” tells Gossip Cop that the Enquirer‘s story is “completely untrue.”

Denise Richards talks about Charlie Sheen and his troubles on “The View” tomorrow.

Sitting in with Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Richards was asked about her ex-husband and his infamous exploits.

And since it was taped earlier today, Gossip Cop has a preview.

Below is part of the converation that took place.

BARBARA WALTERS: We can’t have you here without asking a couple of questions.

DENISE RICHARDS: Really? Let me guess what they might be about.

WALTERS: I’m the designated hitter. But you know you were married to Charlie Sheen. You got married in 2002, you were divorced in 2006 and you have two daughters Sam and Lola. All the stuff about Charlie Sheen, the drinking, the booze, and the porn stars, the rehab, talking on television, radio programs. Does any of this surprise you?

RICHARDS: No, I mean it doesn’t. I mean, you know this is Charlie’s lifestyle. He makes no bones about it. And it is what it is.

WALTERS: If you could just give us one line of what you say to your children.

RICHARDS: What can you say? It’s a very difficult situation in dealing with the subject. This has been something I have dealt with for years. This is not a new situation. There are times where his life is more colorful than others, more public than others, and as the kids get older it’s a difficult thing. I’m learning as I go too. I have never had to deal with this and this was a subject I had hoped to talk with my children about as they got older. But it’s hard. I mean there are books that are out there. One in particular, I’m blanking on the title, it explains addiction to children. There are images and pictures that a child can understand. I don’t know what they fully comprehend from these conversations. They don’t know what some of these things are. So I do the best I can and it’s not easy.

Barbara Walters fulfilled a dream on Thursday by broadcasting her interview with the cast of “Jersey Shore.”

The segment ran as part of Walters’ annual “Most Fascinating People” special.

Her first question to the group – whose main activities, Walters tells us, are “tanning, partying, and making out with strangers” –  is whether they consider themselves to be “fascinating.”

The five-minute collision of Walters with the likes of Snooki and The Situation is mesmerizing.

During an interview with Barbara Walters, Oprah broke down and cried while discussing her friend Gayle King and persistent tabloid rumors that they are lesbian partners.

Oprah gives a halting, emotional response to a Walters question about what King’s friendship means to her.

“She is… the mother I never had. She is… the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person,” says the talk queen.

Oprah then begins to cry and asks for a tissue.

When Walters follows up with a question about the “dumb rumors” that Oprah and King are gay, Oprah responds with frustration, “I’m not a lesbian… I’m not even kind of a lesbian.”

“A Barbara Walters Special: Oprah, The Next Chapter” will air in full on ABC tomorrow night.

She’s holding back two names for now, and will announce the year’s Most Fascinating Person when the show broadcasts on December 9 on ABC.

So far, the list reads as follows: Justin Bieber, Betty White, LeBron James, the cast of “Jersey Shore,” future queen Kate Middleton, Sarah Palin, “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, and Sandra Bullock.

Stephen Colbert stormed off the set on “The View” this morning, mocking Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar‘s walkout last week on Bill O’Reilly.

After joking that bedbugs lurking in the couch was the real reason the women leapt up during the contentious interview with O’Reilly, Colbert defended O’Reilly by saying that the Fox News host “was talking about what felt right” during the debate over the Ground Zero mosque.

That’s when Colbert decided to leave the set.

Today, “The View” weighed in on last Thursday’s altercation between hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar and guest Bill O’Reilly, and it was almost as lively as the original fireworks.

Sherri Shepherd started off by saying the argument and subsequent walk-off “wasn’t staged,” and that O’Reilly boasted off-camera, “It’s really gonna make your ratings.”

Goldberg then said her objection was “When you say Muslims are responsible for 9/11… Does that mean Muhammad Ali? Because Muhammad Ali is a Muslim.”

She added, “I was glad I left… My threshold was done,” and had Goldberg stayed she says, “[She] was gonna cuss him out.”

Behar agreed, saying that she was “enraged” and felt, “This show is about standing up to the bigotry, so I stood up.”

Barbara Walters, however, had a different view of the incident.

Walters sympathized with her co-hosts’ feelings, noting she thought O’Reilly “was totally wrong,” but the news legend refused to condone their walking off the set.

She said, “We must be able to conversations… without fury, without rage, without screaming, without obscenities, without walking out.”

“You don’t walk out of your home,” Walters felt, stressing, “We must be able to have a conversation and express yourself without adding to the rage.”

Last month Gossip Cop was saddened to report that Whoopi Goldberg had pulled out of the London production of “Sister Act” after her mother suffered a stroke.

At the time, producers released a statement saying Goldberg was returning to the United States to be with her mother.

But today, on the season premiere of “The View,” Goldberg announced that her mother had sadly died a few days after the stroke.

The reveal came in the show’s opening segment when co-host Barbara Walters said to Goldberg that, “This past August was one of the best times of your life and one of the worst times of your life.”

Goldberg then announced, “My mom passed on the 29th of August.”

The normally comedic Goldberg took on a serious, reflective tone as she discussed her mother, Emma, whom she called “one of the best people I think I’ve had the privilege of knowing.”

Goldberg explained that her mom was a teacher of early education, noting, “I don’t think she quite realized how many lives she touched. She was an extraordinary woman.”

She continued, “And really, my brother and I were very, very lucky to have her in our lives. And so, I’m not sad because she had a great time… I think I’m just sad sometimes because I think who will love me the way that she did? But I realized that my brother and I have each other so we’re okay.”

President Barack Obama will be on “The View” on July 29.

It’s the first time ever a sitting president has visited a daytime talk show.

Barbara Walters, who underwent heart valve replacement surgery in May, was scheduled to return to the program in September, but will be in the studio for this special show.

Walters said, “We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on ‘The View.’ The President last appeared on the program in March 2008 while he was still a Senator, and First Lady Michelle Obama was a featured guest co-host in June 2008. This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news.”

The interview will be taped a day earlier, and is slated to touch on such subjects as the economy, the Gulf oil spill, jobs, and family life inside the White House.

Barbara Walters is returning to “The View” for the first time since having heart valve replacement surgery two months ago.

The creator and co-host of the chat show will appear via Skype on Monday, July 12.

Back on May 10, Walter told the studio audience, “You know how healthy I have been – never missed a day’s work. Later this week, I am going to have surgery to replace one faulty heart valve… I have known of this condition for a while now and my doctors and I have decided that this is the best time to do the surgery, since the summer is coming up.”

At the time of her announcement, the TV icon said she intended to come “roaring back in September.”
