Axl Rose was booed in absentia as his band Guns N’ Roses was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on Saturday night.

The frontman controversially pulled out of the event just days before the ceremony, declining to be inducted and torpedoing the possibility of the first full, reunited Guns N’ Roses performance in nearly 20 years.

Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend – but not in its entirety.

Frontman Axl Rose has declined to be inducted, and won’t be participating in the festivities.

“I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he wrote in a letter announcing his decision on Wednesday.

A Friday night Guns N’ Roses concert ended in tumult when organizers pulled the plug on the band and frontman Axl Rose declared that they would not perform as scheduled at Leeds Festival on Sunday.

Problems arose after Rose and his bandmates took to the stage at Reading Festival an hour late, despite having been informed that there was a strict curfew.

When the set ran past the allotted time — which had already been pushed back from 11:30 pm to midnight — the sound was cut.
