Well, the tabloids have seized on last Saturday’s Robert Pattinson and Sarah Roemer Los Angeles non-date and blown it completely out of proportion.

Shocking!

According to Star magazine, which spent last month trying to convince everyone that Pattinson hooked up with Ashley Greene and was “on the verge” of splitting with Kristen Stewart, it was actually his alleged “PDA-filled night” with Roemer that has brought him and Stewart to “the breaking point.”

Star pretends to have the scoop on Pattinson’s evening at La Poubelle.

“He was really affectionate, putting his arm around [Roemer] and touching her leg,” claims a so-called “eyewitness” for the magazine.

Those details are bogus, of course.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Pattinson and Roemer were part of a larger group, and their interaction was completely platonic.

The tabloid knows this, which is why it drops Roemer entirely halfway through the story, instead focusing on how Pattinson and Stewart’s romance has supposedly fizzled.

“Kristen stresses Rob out. She’s difficult, diva-ish and demanding. The real reason he and Kristen are keeping mum about their romance is that there is no romance anymore,” claims a “friend,” adding, “The passion between them ended months ago.”

This is classic, no-win tab logic.

When Pattinson and Stewart acknowledge that they’re a couple, it’s either a bombshell revelation or a cover-up, depending on what the “story” is that week.

If Pattinson and Stewart co-piloted a propeller plane trailing a banner proclaiming their love, Star would claim that was an indication things had gotten rocky.

Just like the mag has abandoned last month’s allegations of a Pattinson-Greene coupling, soon it will find a new woman to replace Roemer in the Pattinson rumor mill.

As is often the case, time and reality will prove Star wrong.

Sources close to Pattinson and Stewart tell Gossip Cop everything is fine between them.

“Was Ashley Greene bitten by a vampire in real life?” asks Star, which writes that the Twilight actress “inadvertently revealed what looked like scars from two puncture wounds on her right thigh during a Breaking Dawn event in Chicago.”

Starving for scandal, the tabloid showed a  photograph of Greene’s leg (right) to an “L.A. based plastic surgeon,” who says, “It’s possible they’re liposuction scars… Poorly done liposuction can result in dents and divots similar to the ones evident on Ms. Greene’s thigh.”

The doctor, who has never treated or even met Greene, further conjectures, “She also could have had a ‘fat melting’ procedure such as mesotherapy, which involves injecting the drug in small volumes to spot areas to treat localized sections of fat,” resulting sometimes in “skin dimpling.”

However, if the mag cared even the slightest bit about the truth, they would have gone to people who know the actress, as Gossip Cop did, rather than to some random doctor who told them what they want to hear.

A source close to Greene tells us liposuction claims are “false,” and explains, “The scars are from a childhood injury – she broke her leg and had pins put in as part of the recovery.”

“Joe Jonas is working overtime trying to give it another chance with actress Ashley Greene,” reports In Touch.

The mag says Greene, who split from the singer last March after six months of dating, was welcomed home from her international Breaking Dawn press tour earlier this month “with an elaborate floral arrangement — sent by Joe!”

According to a supposed “friend” of Jonas, he and his ex “have been back in touch recently and the flowers — beautiful orchids — were part of his attempt to win her back.”

“Joe seems to miss the stay-at-home lifestyle he and Ashley shared,” explains the alleged pal, noting, “Now he’s making an effort to reconcile.”

Uh, then why on Sunday was he reportedly on a date with a new brunette in New York?

In any case, a source extremely close to Jonas tells Gossip Cop the tab’s story is “absolutely not true.”

Ashley Greene is flying high this fall!

After she finishes promoting Breaking Dawn: Part 1 ahead of its November 18 premiere, she’ll be guest-starring on ABC’s new series “Pan Am.”

A rep for the 1960s period drama tells Gossip Cop Greene will do a three-episode arc on the show, beginning December 4, in which she’ll play the role of a debutante.

The actress is well geared towards her post-Twilight career — she’s also set to star as a female Oliver Twist in a reboot of the Charles Dickens classic.

As expected, with Breaking Dawn about to hit theaters, the gossip press is going into overdrive when it comes to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Life & Style speculates that their public display of affection is Stewart’s “desperate” bid to keep Pattinson.

OK! insists they’re about to wed.

Us Weekly claims Stewart and Pattinson endure a “tortured romance.”

And Star, which is convinced Pattinson has hooked up with Ashley Greene, continues to bang the crisis drum this week, arguing that behind the scenes he and Stewart are “on the verge of a split!”

“Their relationship has always been hot and cold,” explains a so-called “insider” for the tabloid. “And right now it’s icy.”

Stewart was allegedly “livid” after hearing about the (phony) “intimate dates” that Star says Pattinson and Greene shared, and “flew to London on a crisis mission” from her movie set in Wales.

According to the tab’s source, Stewart went to Pattinson’s apartment on October 31 and “ripped him apart for getting so close to Ashley.”

While Pattinson is supposedly “used to Kristen being moody,” the Star insider suspects “it’s starting to get to him,” adding that if Stewart “doesn’t cool it with the jealousy, it could be the end.”

In other words, Star equates an unsubstantiated fight based on nonexistent envy over a bogus flirtation with being “on the verge of a split.”

The fact that Pattinson and Stewart looked perfectly happy together a few days later means nothing to Star, because it’s all (allegedly) a front for their secret bickering over Greene.

In reality, though, things remain as they’ve been and as Gossip Cop has reported consistently.

A source close to the couple tells us there’s absolutely no truth to talk of an imminent breakup or jealous fights.

This is great.

For years, the tabloids have told us that Kristen Stewart is aloof and shows little affection for Robert Pattinson, supposedly not as committed as Pattinson to their relationship.

Then came last week’s hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

“Kristen was all about her man and didn’t care who saw it, including Rob’s parents in the audience!” exclaims Life & Style, referring to the couple’s PDA.

Wow, could the magazine finally be admitting that Stewart and Pattinson are happy and stable?

Of course not!

“Insiders say her motive for getting handsy may be more about marking territory than unbridled passion,” explains the tab.

A so-called “production insider” adds that Stewart “knows she has to keep an eye on Rob because so many women want him.”

But that’s not all!

Supposedly, Stewart is particularly wary of Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene, even though Reed is married now and Greene’s “flirty behavior” with Pattinson on a press junket was pure tabloid fabrication.

Allegedly tense around her female Breaking Dawn co-stars and fearful of every other woman on the planet, Stewart is “desperate to hang on to Rob,” which explains her affectionate behavior, claims Life & Style.

Gotcha.

So when Stewart and Pattinson don’t touch, it’s because they’re a couple in trouble.

And when they do touch, it’s because they’re… a couple in trouble?

Once again, when it comes to satisfying tabloids frothing at the mouth for controversy, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart just can’t win.

Regardless, a source in the know assures Gossip Cop the couple is as happy now as they were “two weeks ago and two months ago — nothing’s changed.”

It’s been one of the more popular themes in tabloid journalism over the last couple of years: If Robert Pattinson is anywhere near another woman in a professional context, it’s (allegedly) reason for Kristen Stewart to worry.

If an adult female works in Hollywood and her career intersects (or is even rumored to intersect) with Pattinson’s… it’s instant (100% bogus) scandal!

At various points in the past it’s been Keira Knightley, and don’t forget the supposed “threat” once posed by Reese Witherspoon!

There were rumors about Uma Thurman and also Emilie de Ravin.

Romantic challenges could come from unexpected people like Caitlin Cronenberg, or even Pattinson’s agent.

Basically, as long as Pattinson makes movies, tabloids will make scandals.

The newest one involves Breaking Dawn co-star Ashley Greene, who’s been promoting the film with Pattinson – and allegedly “getting close” to him, too.

Star magazine’s so-called “insider” says that with Stewart off filming her own movie, “Ashley is making moves on Rob.”

“They have been on romantic dates, just the two of them. Ashley is forward – she made it known that she wants something more than a friendship,” claims this Star source.

The same insider for the mag relates, “Kristen has warned Rob to keep his distance from Ashley and is furious with him for not obeying.”

Uh-huh.

Unfortunately, Pattinson is unable to “keep his distance” from Greene because they are working.

They are pushing Breaking Dawn in foreign markets together.

That is what actors do.

They are not sharing romantic meals, they are not getting too “close,” and Stewart is not panicking about any kind of hookup.

Sources close to all parties tell Gossip Cop the Greene-Pattinson rumors are more of the same nonsense that’s dogged both stars as their fame has grown.

The tabloid declares, “With friends like Ashley Greene, Kristen Stewart doesn’t need enemies.”

And with Star printing stories like these, the world doesn’t need The Onion.

Ashley Greene reportedly has a new man.

The Twilight actress is said to be dating Broadway’s “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” star Reeve Carney.

The pair was recently spotted holding hands on the New York subway.

Carney, who will star in the upcoming Jeff Buckley biopic, was previously linked to his “Spider-Man” co-star Jennifer Damiano.

Gossip Cop reached out to a rep for Greene, who declined to comment.

The site squeals the two “met up” at a celebrity-filled after-party for the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the nightclub Tao, and “stayed out together until 3 a.m. Hmm!”

What’s more, says HollywoodLife, “they seemed ultra-friendly and like they were both having an extremely good time.”

“Joe and Ashley spent most of the night together talking and laughing,” adds the blog.

So are they “reuniting,” as the site asked?

NO.

They simply ran into each other at the celebrity party, a source close to Jonas tells Gossip Cop, adding they are “not at all” reuniting.

Ashley Greene is trading fangs for Fagin.

The Twilight actress will star as “Olivia” in a gender-reversed adaptation of “Oliver Twist.”

In the project, a modern take on Charles Dickens’ classic, Greene’s character is part of a group of street kids who wind up caught in a criminal turf war.

Greene, of course, will return to screens as vampire Alice Cullen when Breaking Dawn is released in November.

This is definitely an unexpected role for the up-and-coming star.

“Ryan’s Hot Hookup,” reads a headline from Life & Style, which claims Ryan Phillippe has been canoodling with Ashley Greene.

The mag says Phillippe was recently “spotted out schmoozing Twilight star Ashley Greene,” and quotes a supposed “friend” as saying, “I think they’d both been attracted to each other for a while.”

So when exactly did this alleged tryst occur?

“They hooked up right after he’d been partying with Demi Lovato for a week,” notes the “insider,” who adds that Lovato “isn’t going to be happy” about her man’s new fling.

OK, let’s get something straight.

Lovato and Phillippe were NEVER dating.

And similarly, this supposed “hookup” between Greene and Phillippe NEVER happened.

A source close to the actor tells Gossip Cop the tab’s tale is “not true,” pointing out that he’s been on the East Coast for some time, while Greene is in L.A.

And a source close to Greene confirms the story is “untrue.”

Why is that?

“Not only did they have their arms around each other,” the site writes, but “Ashley looked really happy!”

Wait… she was happy?! How scandalous!

According to E! Online, Ashley Greene “gave some serious ‘tude” last night in Los Angeles when photographers asked about her split from Joe Jonas.

The site claims the Twilight star “snapped” when a paparazzo “deigned to inquire about her former fling,” with whom she recently broke up.

“Why so snippy, Ash?” asks E!

One tiny problem… there’s video of the incident, and the only rude ones are the photographers themselves.

Greene and her companions were met by paparazzi who swarmed the actress, almost knocking over some bystanders.

Meanwhile, Greene never gets “snippy” with them at all.

She simply tells one photographer – very calmly – that his question is “not nice.”

That’s it.

Greene then smiles and poses for pictures with fans.

We’re not sure where she shows off that alleged “tude.”

It’s a shame that outlets feel the need to portray Greene and other perfectly polite stars with misleading accounts like this one.

Ashley Greene isn’t moping over her recent split from Joe Jonas.

The Twilight star has been out and about in New York city this week, spending time with Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill.

Greene and Followill were spotted at Avenue on Monday night, where an eyewitness tells Gossip Cop they were “flirting.”

The pair met up again yesterday at Phebe’s Tavern, where they hung out with the actress’ father.

Right now, it seems that Greene and the rocker are just hanging out, but Gossip Cop will keep you posted if anything progresses.

The couple is said to have parted ways shortly after Greene’s 24th birthday celebration on February 19.

Jonas and Greene began dating last summer after meeting through mutual friends in London.

Joe Jonas opens up about his relationship with Ashley Greene, his new solo album, gay rumors, and more in Details magazine’s April issue.

Jonas says his relationship with Greene “feels good.”

“I think what works about it is she really puts my feelings first,” he says. “She understands my busy schedule. She’ll fly out to my shows – she’s been to places in South America that I can’t even pronounce.”

The young stars, who have been dating for about nine months, also regularly spend time with each other’s families. The singer says Greene’s father “can drink me to shame. He’s awesome.”

Jonas says he wants his solo album to be “something you can hear in a club – something that’s me.”

He explains, “I’m growing up, the fans are growing up. I’ve gone through a lot of stuff in my life so far. There are stories I haven’t really been able to tell. When you’re writing with three people, you wind up with a sound that might be – not average – but, you know, expected.”

As for the ubiquitous gay rumors, Jonas says simply, “There’s nothing wrong with being gay,” adding, “but I’m not.”

The issue hits newsstands March 22.

Joe Jonas charmed Ashley Greene for her birthday… with a costly charm bracelet.

While celebrating her (upcoming) 24th birthday at the Las Vegas nightclub Pure, Greene said the gold Chanel bracelet she was wearing on her right wrist was a gift from Jonas.

“The funny thing about it is when I got it, my boyfriend said it’s vintage Coach – and I was like ‘Thanks so much’” said Greene, adding, “And then I put it on and was like, ‘Oh my god, this is Chanel.’”

“It was very cute and sweet and adorable to me because my boyfriend gave it to me,” said Greene, who noted, “Coach, Chanel… makes no difference to him … I absolutely love it because he knows what I like.”

The couple danced all night at the Twilight star’s Candyland-themed birthday party, which had giant lollipops and a three-tiered birthday cake decorated with sweets.

Greene turns 24 tomorrow.

One day after the happy news about Demi Lovato‘s exit from rehab, HollywoodLife almost seems eager to see things go downhill.

As Gossip Cop reported, Lovato has left a treatment facility and returned to her life in Los Angeles, where she’s back with family and friends, and will continue to see doctors.

But trouble lurks around the corner, warns HollywoodLife.

According to the site, Lovato “now has to risk another huge challenge – possibly running into her ex and his girlfriend!”

That couple, of course, would be Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene, whom several outlets blamed for Lovato’s issues this past fall – even though there was no real connection between them.

HollywoodLife is in the business of stirring controversy, though, so the site keeps raising the possibility that Jonas and Greene “drove Demi to her breaking point.”

Now the three young stars are in Los Angeles again, so HollywoodLife says “it is only a matter of time before their inevitable run-in,” the one that could be “too much for Demi to handle.”

Sigh.

Let’s ignore the fact that Los Angeles is bigger than, say, a high school, and that just being there doesn’t mean having to see everyone else who happens to live there.

There is zero evidence that Ashley Greene triggered Demi Lovato’s trip to rehab. Zero. If they do see each other, there’s not going to be some kind of face-to-face cataclysm. This is simply a matter of HollywoodLife creating controversy where none exists.

Gossip Cop is curious to know how HollywoodLife thinks Lovato should avoid Greene. Should the two actresses alternate weeks in Los Angeles?

Miley Cyrus is reportedly at work on her next movie, undeterred by strong reaction to the video that shows her smoking a bong.

While filming on So Undercover has not begun, Cyrus and co-star Kelly Osbourne ran through their lines and rehearsed as scheduled on Friday, according to TMZ.

The outlet cites sources close to the production as saying Cyrus was aware of the bong video’s online release but “kept her focus on the movie.”

In the film, Cyrus plays a street-smart private investigator hired by the FBI to go undercover in a sorority.

Another new Cyrus movie, LOL: Laughing Out Loud, featuring Demi Moore and Ashley Greene, is now in post-production.

Today’s the biggest travel day of the year.

The pop star’s girlfriend, Ashley Greene, tells George Lopez that she and Jonas had some trouble recently while flying from Abu Dhabi to New York — because Jonas, who loves to cook, mistakenly packed knives in his carry-on luggage.

When the couple was stopped at a security checkpoint and asked about the bag, Jonas realized what he’d done and said, “Whoopsies!”

As Greene observes, “Whoopsies doesn’t cut it.”

Eventually, the knives were stowed away and the couple got back to the United States.

The tabloids served up a ton of Demi Lovato stories today in the wake of her recent decision to enter treatment for “emotional and physical” issues.

Outlets wasted no time jumping on Lovato and mining her personal life for the events that troubled her.

One of the biggest sources of “blame,” according to OK! magazine and others, was the end of Lovato’s relationship with Joe Jonas last spring. After ending things with Lovato, Jonas began a romance over the summer with Ashley Greene.

An OK! “insider” is quoted as saying, “Demi’s been a mess. The breakup with Joe just wrecked her.”

Another so-called “source” alleges that “the energy between them was tense” on their joint Camp Rock 2 appearances, and the tab says Lovato responded to the pressure by cutting herself and slipping into an eating disorder.

Meanwhile, Life & Style insists “it was drugs” that derailed Lovato, explaining that her “heavy drinking” and “drug use” were a way for the starlet to cope with the “enormous strain of childhood fame.”

Gossip Cop has pointed out already that a lot of the speculation surrounding Lovato is just plain wrong, and we hope outlets will be cautious before assigning “blame.”

It seems particularly nasty to treat Joe Jonas as the reason for Lovato’s trouble.

More credible accounts explain that the actress-singer’s issues stretch back years, long before her (brief) romance with Jonas. And to blame him for causing Lovato’s very serious self-harm seems like a big, unjustifiable leap.

A source close to Jonas tells Gossip Cop that it’s “not true” that the new Jonas-Greene relationship played havoc with Lovato’s emotional state, and that there simply weren’t issues between the two women.

Jonas himself was “nothing but a gentleman” to Lovato in recent months, adds the source, who also reasonably points out that his numbers with Lovato would have been removed from their concerts had there been actual issues between them.

The point is this: We’re dealing with young performers, and to treat their spring fling as the source of some very serious trauma is unfair both to Jonas and Lovato.

And as to Life & Style‘s flat “It was drugs” allegation, Lovato’s rep tells Gossip Cop that she is “not in treatment for drug or alcohol addiction.”

Demi Lovato has clearly been battling a number of demons.

And while it’s true she’s struggling with several “emotional and physical issues,” including eating disorders, bullying and cutting, there have been a few inaccurate reports about her.

The usually facts-based E! earlier today quoted a source saying that after a fight with a backup dancer in the Peru airport, “The [Jonases'] dad basically said right there, ‘That’s it. You’re going home.’”

E! also reported Lovato “made verbal threats to Joe‘s new squeeze, Ashley Green (sic), who was at the airport as well.”

Here are a few things Gossip Cop has learned from a source close to the situation.

The Jonas’ dad never told Lovato she’s “going home.” “No one kicked her off the tour,” says our source, explaining that it was a decision the singer made after hitting rock bottom.

And there were never any “verbal threats” directed at Greene, assures our insider.

Sadly, though, we’re told in the next few days what will emerge is that Lovato has “larger issues,” mental and otherwise.

Gossip Cop only wishes her the best during this difficult time.

According to the site, which has given us carpal tunnel syndrome for having to correct it all the time, “Joe Jonas is jealous over his girlfriend Ashley Greene’s sexy physical scenes as her character Alice Cullen with her on-screen hubby, Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) — and he’s making sure everyone knows she’s HIS girl.”

Uh, huh…

HollywoodLife says it has a “source” who claims, “Joe is very possessive of Ashley — letting everyone know that she belongs to him –- especially [when it comes to] Jackson.”

Uh, huh…

Here’s what’s accurate: Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene are dating. And Greene and Jackson Rathbone play husband and wife in Breaking Dawn.

Here’s what’s inaccurate: Everything else.

A source close to the Jonas Brothers assures Gossip Cop that the singer/actor knows the difference between play acting and real-life, and that he’s not remotely jealous of Rathbone. The source calls the HollywoodLife story “nonsense.”

If there’s as much drama onscreen in Breaking Dawn as HollywoodLife manufactures about the movie’s stars, it will be another box office hit.
