Columbia Pictures just released the first picture of the actor in his ‘Spider-Man’ costume.

Garfield takes over for Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker in the franchise reboot, which also stars Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans.

Although the studio and even Emma Stone’s own people expected her to grab the the role of Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming ‘Spider-man reboot,’ she’s instead going to play Peter Parker first love, Gwen Stacy.

The 3D film, due in 2012, will feature Andrew Garfield as the title character.

The Social Network, the eagerly awaited film about the founders of Facebook, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mara Rooney, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake, not surprisingly takes the number spot at the box office. The film sold $23 million in tickets. Coming in second is the animated Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole with $10.5 million, while last week’s winner, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, starring Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, and Carey Mulligan came in third with$10.2 million.
