Adele is showing off her vocal prowess for the first time since undergoing throat surgery.

In a clip from Sunday’s “60 Minutes,” the singer wows Anderson Cooper with an a cappella rendition of her hit “Rolling in the Deep.”

Adele appears to have recovered remarkably from the November surgery that sidelined her for several months after doctors found polyps on her vocal chords.

But, as she tells Cooper, she’s not completely out of the woods yet.

Adele risks re-injuring herself if she sings too much.

“If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again,” she says.

The risk, however, won’t stop Adele from taking the stage Sunday for a much-anticipated performance at the Grammy Awards.

Joan Rivers has had how many plastic surgery procedures?

A number of outlets seem to be confused, quoting a staggering figure of operations – 739 – that Rivers said in jest when discussing an “intervention” staged recently by her daughter, Melissa.

The two women promoted their “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” on Anderson Cooper’s talk show, and the host asked Rivers about the whole “739 surgeries” report.

After joking around, she put the issue to rest.

For the fifth time, Kathy Griffin will join Anderson Cooper on Saturday to anchor CNN‘s coverage of the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.

Given the comedian’s penchant for off-color jokes and controversy, Griffin’s involvement always makes Cooper a little… nervous.

On Friday, the two pals previewed their plans for the confetti-strewn scene in New York tonight, and Griffin revealed that she will recreate one of the past year’s greatest moments – Nancy Grace’s nip slip.

Also, she calls dinner companion Ryan Seacrest “the devil.”

It marked the fifth year that CNN honored everyday people making a difference in the world with a star-studded night in Los Angeles.

Kim Kardashian‘s 72-day marriage landed her on Anderson Cooper‘s “Ridculist” on Monday night.

Cooper jokingly defends Kardashian’s decision to divorce Kris Humphries, saying, “I’m sticking up for her, and it’s not just because I’m scared of Khloe,” before quickly conceding, “I’m a little bit scared of Khloe.”

The host continues, “The Kardashians are serious people, who contrary to popular belief, do indeed have discernible talent. For instance they make the umm… the uh… well, there was the time that they did the thing…”

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have landed on Anderson Cooper‘s “Ridiculist” for the $39,000 (also listed as $34,000 on some shopping sites) alligator backpack they created for their fashion line The Row.

The trendsetting twins announced earlier this week that the luxury knapsack was the first thing that sold out at the Paris launch of their new handbag collection, something that Cooper found absolutely preposterous.

While the CNN host acknowledges the Olsens’ business and style acumen, he finds it absurd that anyone would pay $39,000 for a backpack.

But it’s not as if the Olsens are the first to create such a steeply priced purse.

Hermes’ Birkin bag, carried by many celebrities and other women of wealth, can cost well over $50,000.

Gloria Vanderbilt visited her son Anderson Cooper‘s talk show today, and the two discussed the horrifying day when her son (and his brother) Carter committed suicide at 23.

Vanderbilt actually saw Carter jump from the family’s balcony and tells Anderson, “There was a moment when I thought I was going to jump after him, but then I thought of you… and it stopped me from doing that.”

It’s (obviously) an emotional clip, and an extraordinarily personal moment not typically seen on daytime TV.

Amy Winehouse‘s parents, Mitch and Janis, appeared on Anderson Cooper‘s talk show debut today, along with the late singer’s boyfriend, Reg Traviss, and other family members.

In the video clip below, Mitch talks about a few strange occurrences after his daughter’s death involving butterflies and birds, which Amy adored.

It turns out a giant butterfly circled the crowd during her funeral, even landing on Kelly Osbourne‘s shoulder at one point. In the following weeks, there were other weird moments that made the family feel like Amy was still communicating with them.

Amy Winehouse‘s father says he believes the singer died after suffering a seizure triggered by her detox.

Mitch Winehouse offered the theory while taping an interview with Anderson Cooper, which will air during Monday’s premiere of “Anderson.”

“Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” says Winehouse. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.”

According to her father, Winehouse’s system contained traces of Librium, a prescription drug used to combat anxiety and withdrawal symptoms.

He believes that her body might have been reacting to alcohol detoxification, including the pharmaceuticals, and “there was nobody there to rescue her.”

Mitch Winehouse says Amy’s “periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter,” with her recovery “heading in the right direction” before her death.

On July 23, Winehouse was found dead in her apartment at the age of 27.

A full inquest into her death will begin next month.

On his new talk show next week, Anderson Cooper will interview Gerard Depardieu, the French actor whose public pee party on a plane inspired Cooper’s epic on-camera giggle fit last month.

Depardieu will chat with Cooper on September 13′s “Anderson,” a day after the show debuts with Amy Winehouse‘s family.

The second episode will also feature appearances from Kathy Griffin, Daniel Radcliffe and others.

The small-bladdered thespian has already made light of his recent below-the-belt emergency in a parody video plugging his upcoming project.

We’ll be curious to see Cooper and Depardieu interact, although it’s going to be tough to top “The Ridiculist” segment that brought them together in the first place (watch below).

Anderson Cooper good-naturedly mocked Kate Gosselin in his latest “The Ridiculist” segment, and, while he didn’t giggle himself into hysterics, Cooper’s takedown of the reality TV mom’s meltdown over a pizza slice is pretty entertaining.

On a recent edition of “Kate Plus 8,” Gosselin freaked out when her kids’ babysitter, Ashley, allowed one of the “8″ to hand their bodyguard, Steve, a piece of pizza with her grubby paws.

When Ashley tried to reason with the irate Kate, Gosselin’s theatrics continued.

Cooper, who’s spent a lot of time in actual war zones, narrates the “cautionary tale” with some heavy-duty eye rolling.

Somewhere, a liberated Jon Gosselin is smiling.

Amy Winehouse‘s family and boyfriend will be Anderson Cooper‘s guests when his new talk show debuts on September 12.

On “Anderson,” the late singer’s father and mother, Mitch and Janis, will sit down for their first interviews since their daughter was found dead in her apartment in July.

Cooper will also talk with the singer’s brother, Alex, as well as her boyfriend, Reg Traviss.

For the first week of “Anderson,” the host has already taped interviews with some cast members of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Gerard Depardieu has a sense of humor to go along with his small bladder.

The actor, whose public plane peeing last month led Anderson Cooper to lose it on the air, just released a video in which he both parodies the incident and promotes an upcoming movie.

In it, Depardieu is aboard a flight in character as Obelix, from the French comics-turned-movie series Asterix, which happens to star Edouard Baer, Depardieu’s real-life friend and traveling companion during the pee scandal.

Baer sits across the aisle from him in the parody.

French isn’t Gossip Cop‘s strong suit, but a rough translation of the action has Depardieu’s character freaking out when he learns he can’t catch a wild boar before takeoff.

Apparently, he can’t wait, leading to a mess.

Anderson Cooper ends his CNN show with a segment called “The Ridiculist,” during which he pokes fun of one of the day’s most peculiar pop culture stories. Today, the anchor took aim at Gerard Depardieu, who peed in a plane’s aisle in front of his fellow passengers.

Cooper giggled through a series of urination puns until he finally lost it when noting the cleaning crew was glad they didn’t have to deal with a “De-part-two.”

“Survivor” host Jeff Probst is taking on a new challenge.

The Emmy winner will get his own daytime talk show on CBS in fall 2012.

“I’m fascinated with human nature and thrilled that this show will allow me the opportunity to connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level,” said Probst in a statement.

He’s hosted all 22 seasons of “Survivor” since its 2000 debut.

There’s been no indication that he’ll leave the adventure reality series.

Probst is just the latest addition to a daytime TV landscape that’s changing rapidly, with Oprah and long-running soap operas leaving the air, Regis Philbin‘s retirement from “Live!” and primetime news talent such as Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper launching daytime programs.

America’s fascination with recent newlyweds Courtney Alexis Stodden and Doug Hutchison cannot be denied, and now Anderson Cooper has weighed in with a tongue-in-cheek defense of the unusual romance.

Cooper is particularly taken with Stodden’s YouTube channel, where she’s posted videos highlighting her musical (ahem) talents and physical assets – all of which she declares to be “real.”

Indeed.

Anyway, in his The Ridiculist segment, Cooper mentions one of 16-year-old Stodden’s proudest claims: “I’ve never done pornography, I never will.”

Anderson Cooper has been attacked in Egypt for the second straight day.

The CNN newsman and his crew are in Cairo to cover the escalating protests against President Hosni Mubarak.

Cooper just tweeted, “Situation on ground in #egypt very tense. Vehicle I was in attacked. My window smashed. All ok.”

On Wednesday, Cooper was “set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters” before finding refuge on a roof.

Meanwhile, FOX News correspondent Greg Palkot and producer Olaf Wiig have “suffered severe injuries” according to reports.

Ashley Webster of Fox Business Network was also threatened with violence.

Attacks against foreign journalists have ramped up in recent days as protesters battle pro-Mubarak supporters.

Anderson Cooper was attacked today by a pro-government mob while covering the demonstrations in Cairo.

“We were set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters, punching us in the head, attacking my producer… my cameraman,” Cooper said on the air. “The crowd kept growing and throwing punches, kicks, trying to grab us. It was pandemonium.”

“Suddenly a young man would come up, look at you, and then punch you in the face,” he added.

Luckily, no one was seriously hurt, and Cooper and his CNN crew quickly found refuge on a nearby roof.

Universal Pictures has pulled a teaser trailer for The Dilemma after viewers including Anderson Cooper complained about its seemingly pejorative use of the word “gay.”

A new version will be available later today.

In the controversial clip from the film, also starring Kevin James, Vince Vaughn‘s character tells a conference room gathering, “Ladies and gentlemen, electric cars… are gay.”

Cooper expressed disappointment in the trailer during an appearance this week on Ellen DeGeneres‘ talk show.

“I was shocked not only that they put it in the movie, but that they thought that it was okay to put that in a preview for the movie to get people to go and see it,” he said.

“The teaser trailer for The Dilemma was not intended to cause anyone discomfort,” the studio said on Friday.

“In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced. A full trailer, which has been in the works for some time, will post online later today.”

The movie, directed by Ron Howard, is due in theaters in January 2011.

Anderson Cooper will host a syndicated daytime talk show.

The one-hour program will launch in fall 2011 and be based out of New York.

According to the press release from Warner Brothers, Cooper will bring “his passionate voice and personal perspective to a topical daily talk show” that “will cover social issues, trends and events, pop culture and celebrity, human interest stories and populist news.”

Potential elements of the show include interviews, undercover investigations, hidden camera experiments, town hall meetings and coverage of breaking news.

“Over the course of the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of daytime programs,” says Cooper.

“It’s fun and interesting to work in daytime television. The format is unique and you can really go in-depth on a wide range of fascinating and compelling stories.”

Cooper will continue to anchor his primetime CNN program, “Anderson Cooper 360.”

Anderson Cooper is being sued by Killian O’Brien, an interior designer, who fell 17 feet through a hole in an old New York firehouse that the CNN anchor is converting into his home.

The hole O’Brien fell through was where the station’s fire pole had been, but was uncovered once removed.

The accident occurred in September.

The all-star “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon raised a record-setting $57 million — and that figure is still rising.

The two-hour telethon, which aired on every network and dozens upon dozen of other stations, drew the biggest names in showbiz to help the island nation, where an estimated 200,000 people died as a result of the January 12 earthquake.

The event was hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Haiti native Wyclef Jean in New York, and featured poignant reports from Anderson Cooper in Haiti.

Among those manning the phones or giving presentations were Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Bill Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Degeneres, and Matt Damon, to name a very few.

The fundraiser had several amazing performances by such artists including, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Shakira.

The money raised was a record, and yet it still doesn’t include donations from corporations or the performed songs that one can download from iTunes for 99 cents.
