REPORT: Al Pacino to Play Joe Paterno

Al Pacino is reportedly attached to a project in which he’d portray Joe Paterno, the iconic Penn State football coach who died last January, shortly after his career ended in disgrace when it was determined he had helped cover up longtime defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky’s serial rape of children.

The movie would be based on “Paterno,” the just-released and controversial biography by sportswriter Joe Posnanski.

Joe Pesci is suing the producers of a movie about the Gotti mob family, alleging they cut down his role and paycheck after using him to attract investors.

The actor filed a lawsuit against Fiore Films, the company behind ‘Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father,’ for the $3 million he claims to have been originally promised to play John Gotti, Sr.’s friend and enforcer, Angelo Ruggiero.

According to Pesci, who says he gained 30 pounds for the part, he’s now being offered only $1 million and a lesser role.

For close to a year now, a number of top celebrities have been mentioned for the possible lead in Martin Scorsese’s biopic about Frank Sinatra.

Among the names thrown out in the past were Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and George Clooney.

But now, according to reports everywhere, including one picked up by MTV, Scorsese is “on record as saying that he’d like Al Pacino for the Sinatra role and Robert De Niro for the crooner’s longtime collaborator, Dean Martin.” So, is it going to happen?
