Robert Downey, Jr. used his tribute at the American Cinematheque Award Show to ask Hollywood to forgive Mel Gibson.

The evening was held to honor the work of Downey, whose professional comeback from drug use and prison has been nothing short of amazing.

But the most dramatic moments came after unannounced guest Gibson came onstage to present Downey with the Cinematheque honor.

Ever since Brad Pitt spoke with Parade magazine about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, outlets have tried to paint a picture of the exes being at war. According to the new Star magazine, the “outburst stunned Jen,” leading her to tell everyone Pitt’s a “liar.”

“Jen called him right away to ask him just what he was thinking with all of this,” says a tab “insider,” who explains that she’s “humiliated and annoyed.”

Mel Gibson’s decision to make a movie about ancient Jewish hero Judah Maccabee is stirring controversy, and now some organizations are making their outrage known.

Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center tells Gossip Cop it’s “preposterous” and “an insult” that Gibson, long accused of anti-Semitism, would be preparing a film on the life of Maccabee.

“Mel Gibson is no Judah Maccabee,” says Hier.

Mel Gibson is set to produce a movie about Jewish hero, Judah Maccabee.

The actor and director, who went on a drunken anti-Semitic rant during a 2006 arrest in Malibu, is teaming up with “Basic Instinct” screenwriter Joe Eszterhas to tell the story of the Maccabee family, whose revolt against the tyrannical King Antiochus and reconsecration of the Jewish Temple is told on the holiday of Hanukkah.

A rep for Gibson confirms to Gossip Cop that he’s set to produce the heroic tale and possibly direct it as well.

Mel Gibson must give Oksana Grigorieva $750,000 as part of their custody agreement, to be paid in three installments of $250,000.

The former couple will have joint legal and physical custody of daughter Lucia.

The terms of the deal were revealed during a joint court appearance today in Los Angeles.

Mel Gibson is again in an L.A. court, working out custody and visitations issues with Oksana Grigorieva over their daughter Lucia, confirms a source close to the actor.

We’re told Gibson is meeting with Judge Scott Gordon in the hopes of getting close to an equal amount of time as Grigorieva has with the little girl.

The actor played around at the 10th birthday party for Josie and Teresita Cajas, the Guatemalan twins who were conjoined at the head and then separated in 2002 during a 23-hour operation.
