HBO has picked up a new Aaron Sorkin series set in the world of cable news.
Jeff Daniels will star as the anchor of a major news program, with Sam Waterston as his boss, Emily Mortimer as his new executive producer, and a staff including Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Alison Pill and Thomas Sadoski.

Keith Olbermann is out of MSNBC, but is he out of cable TV entirely?
Aaron Sorkin, who’s penned numerous TV shows and films, including The Social Network, has been working on a pilot for some time now about a cable news show, and he could be reaching out to Olbermann for help with rants.

Keith Olbermann will return as host of MSNBC’s “Countdown” on Tuesday, following four days (and two shows) of what had been labeled an “indefinite” suspension. Olbermannn was suspended last week for failing to disclose campaign contributions to Democratic candidates.
