Dwayne Johnson and Jerry Bruckheimer are developing a one-hour drama set in the world of 1980s professional wrestling.

NBC has bought the project.

Johnson, who, of course, became famous as WWE superstar “The Rock” before becoming an actor, would be an executive producer on the series.

Johnny Depp’s “The Lone Ranger,” has been shut down.

Disney has nixed its big-screen western that was to star Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger, and Depp as his sidekick, Tonto. The reason for the shut down of the production, which was to begin in October, is that there were problems slashing the film’s $250 million budget to $200 million.
