Emma Watson says she partially modeled her Bling Ring role off of the the reality stars in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “The Hills.”

Speaking to the press at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, the actress revealed she some interesting research for her portrayal of Los Angeles teenager Nicki, who is loosely based on real-life “Burglar Bunch” member Alexis Neiers.

Watson reportedly shared, “I watched a lot of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ and ‘The Hills,’ and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible.”

Emma Watson opens up about playing a bad girl in The Bling Ring and not wanting to be sexy in the June/July issue of W.

The star, who portrays a character loosely based on Alexis Neiers named “Nicki” in the film, says playing someone so different from herself was an interesting challenge.

Watson tells the mag, “The iconic detail of Nicki is her tramp stamp. It’s a lotus flower, a Buddhist-like symbol just above her butt crack. Really classy!”
