Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist at the heart of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, has died.

The musician suffered a stroke on June 12. Initial signs were good for a recovery after he had two brain surgeries, but his condition later turned for the worse.

Clemons was 69.

Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist at the heart of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, has suffered a stroke.

Its severity and his current condition have not been disclosed.

In addition to his decades-long association with Springsteen, Clemons was a contributor on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way album and performed with her during last month’s “American Idol” finale.
